Author has written 5 stories for D.Gray-Man, and Bleach.
I am back online but I'm still on a bit of a hiatus from writing though I will try and get new stories and new chapters of 'Spiral' up soon. Apologies for all of the delays.
I wanted to give a nice little shout out to a couple of friends, I will list them in order of when I met them:
Shizuhana author of many great stories, so please go and read them (though they are currently on hold until December 15, it doesn't mean that you can't enjoy them).
M.Nikolai author of one story currently but it is worth the read (expect to see good things from this author).
whisperypath who while not currently an author is an artist at deviantArt under the name painted-mask . whisperypath is a rather elusive reviewer so if you get one then you should feel appropriately honored.
Famelia Ly also not an author but a great giver of feedback! If you should get any advice, you should listen to it.
So if you see these people please treat them nicely.
I'd also like to thank Kichou for your support at the beginning.
I finally took the seme/uke test () and I had to laugh at the results.
I am apparently a 'Don't Fuck With Me Seme!'
"Serious and to the point, and sometimes bordering on the sadistic, it takes a special breed of uke to satisfy your needs. You tend to be anti-social with little patience for most people. You need someone to challenge you and push you to your limits, and then be able to take your intense reactions, which possibly involves rope and sensual torture. This is what makes the Badass Uke the yin for your yang, as you're the only one able to put them in line and satisfy each other."
Most compatible with: Badass Uke
It's a little frightening how accurate some of those descriptions are; however, I like (and feel bad for Innocent Ukes) so how odd am I?
This is how odd I am, I took the test again (two times the next day because I couldn't decide between some of the answers) and came out with totally different results.
The first time it was 'You are a Clueless Uke!'
Most compatible with: Opportunist Seme, Romantic Seme
The next time it was 'You are a Innocent Uke!'
Most compatible with: Romantic Seme
To think that I would come out as not only an Uke (twice) but that both times had me as incompatible with the results of my first time of taking the test. That's irony but I shouldn't be surprised, all my life I've been something of a contradiction. Has anybody else had similar weird results?
Another rant-Is it bondage or rape?
I am not a prude, I've read and liked many stories about rough sex, bondage, dubious consent (but at least they were honest in there warnings and summaries), toys, various kinks, various partners (furries, etc), and multiple partners (threesomes, etc) and yes even rape stories (some of them very violent and explicit but again the authors were responsible and warned about it).
Some people are just unsure (or rushed) so they may make mistakes that can be corrected in future stories and warned about for the present one(s).
Giving Grace (also a Bleach story) by StarkBlack the summary is as follows: "HisagiUkitake Hisagi’s collar sparks Ukitake’s interest and the conversation leads to an exploration for both of them. Warnings: Yaoi, language, anal, rimming, bondage."
Simple Submission its summary is as follows: "Sequel to Giving Grace. Hisagi Shuuhei is stressed and worn over Kira, and uses his moment of vulnerability to ask Ukitake Jyuushiro for something he's wanted for some time. Warnings: BDSM themes, Language, MalexMale"
Again I won't complain because you want to write a story about a particular subject (I don't even care if you want to write about a character being f*cked by the Eiffel tower, while aliens are dissecting him alive) but I do ask you to be a responsible author for the reader and give a fair and honest warning about your stories content.
sigh* There are probably a few things people wonder about me, a few people might guess about me and a very select few who actually do know something about me; so for everyone else let me say that I write this to hopefully clear up some questions about some of my seemingly harsh reviews. First off let me state that I love yaoi whether you want to call it MxM, lemon, PWP, yaoi or whatever you choose to call it, I enjoy it all. After saying that also know that I do not like rape fics, no matter what you call it; though I have read quite a few and even have some in my list of favorites. I'm not a hypocrite, I simply like some stories that happen to have rape in them; though a certain amount of pull to include them is that they deal with the issue of rape more responsibly than other stories featuring rape, mostly it's just because the stories are good to me.
These are some of my views on the subject of rape (and I wish that some of people who write rape fics would pay attention to them):
- There is never an excuse for rape, the victim never deserves it.
-There is no such thing as not being guilty because you did not participating, if you were there and did nothing you are at the very least an accomplice to the rape.
-While many people think that rape means only sexual penetration and leave it there, rape can mean any unwanted penetration by fingers, toys, etc. in any situation not just sexual.
-Don’t think that the victim enjoys it simply because their body is responding; it’s a physical response only that the mind can’t control it and it certainly doesn’t mean that the person’s enjoying it at all. In fact it usually makes the rape worse because of the added humiliation.
-I dislike uninformed authors who write rape fics in a way that makes the victim seem to not only deserve it but want it. Let me state that no rape victim suddenly falls in love with their rapist, nor do they magically forgive them.
-Rape is a violation against not just the body but the mind and it damages both equally.
-If you don’t want me to think of your story as a rape fic I suggest showing consent from both (or multiple pairings) in your “romance” stories, just having someone express love in their minds doesn’t show consent because the other person doesn’t know their feelings therefore taking them or taking advantage of them is still rape.
-Some think that it isn’t rape because there was love involved (in one or both sides) let me tell you that rape can happen between to people who are or were in love, even between spouses and significant others.
-It is also rape if you’ve taken a person’s ability to voice their consent or lack thereof. Gagging someone then taking them is rape. So is drugging them and then have your way with them, because you have taken away their choice.
-If you wish to write about rape at least study psychological studies on rape victims or even the writings of a rape victim (some doctors suggest it as a way to “get it out” and try to move on), no matter your passion for writing you can hurt people with your uneducated guesses at what a victim goes through.
-Also I dislike stories that joke about or don't treat rape as a "real" crime, when they joke about or downplay any true damage they dismiss the very real suffering any victim of rape who is reading their story feels.
That being said know that no matter my views on rape I would never tell an author to not write what they want to, I just ask that you please be responsible and know that I have a true respect for anyone who has the courage to write and post their stories, so please understand that none of my reviews are meant to be an attack or to be offensive in any way, I’m merely stating my opinion and if you disagree feel free to write me back and we’ll talk, because you likewise deserve to have your opinion.
Let me also express my opinion that rape is not yaoi and while yaoi stories can contain rape they are not the same thing. Any story that does not clearly show the consent between the involved parties, then features sex is rape; even dubious consensual sex is still rape.
Some people have gotten reviews where I’ve stated that they should place a warning before a story that contains rape [or even before the specific chapter(s) that contain it if it’s only in one chapter out of many]. This is advice only but should be considered as being responsible and as a good prevention against flames at the very least; it is also called being considerate for the readers who, like me, don’t wish to read a rape fic (or perhaps are just not in the mood at the moment). By not giving us an appropriate warning (or none at all) you have taken away our choice to read or ignore your story.
Author reaction has varied: some have been considerate and listened (though they have not changed their warning), some have actually heeded my advice and changed the warnings on their stories, other’s still have completely ignored me and other reviewers who have pointed this lack of attention out.
I have nothing against anyone who wishes to write such fics. that is your choice as a writer. Likewise I would never tell you not to write what you want but we also have our right to choose, and by not giving us the necessary information we lose much of our choice. So please be respectful and responsible and give appropriate warnings on your fics that we may enjoy them better.
And let me clarify that when I say give an appropriate warning I mean a factual concise warning. I’ve come across authors who say that they have given an accurate warning with their vague wording. Some examples are: using “sexual situations” to describe rape; yes rape is a sexual situation but so his consensual sex, yet there are clear differences between the two. Others use the term “torture”, yes there was actual torture in the fic but there was also rape and again no warning of it. I don’t care if you want to write it but you should know what you’re writing about and state it as such. Abuse, mature themes, adult themes/situations, explicit sexual content between males, lemon, and even yaoi are some of the terms I’ve come across in stories that have contained rape; yet not one of them stated that there was rape in the fic. Yes those terms could pertain to rape but they also pertain to other things. With no clarification we readers do not expect to come across the rape, and none of those descriptions states rape.
Again to restate yaoi, lemon, MxM, PWP, etc. do not equal rape; and that abuse torture, adult/mature situations/themes, dark themes and countless other descriptions can be interpreted in many way but they do not state rape, either.*
So please be responsible and give accurate, appropriate warnings sometime before we, the readers, have started your stories. It may turn some readers off but you may not lose as many as you believe, as I have stated earlier I myself have several stories in my favorites list that have rape in them. The stories were very good and above all (in all but one) there were warnings in place to prepare me. In the one that didn’t give a warning I was in contact with the author who said that they would address the issue.
Another issue I have with some authors/stories is inaccurate themes. I’ve come across rape fics that stated that their stories were “romance/comfort/hurt”, they were out and out rape; there was no romance involved only a greedy person who wanted to sate their own desires, likewise there was no comfort for the victims of the rape, they were tossed aside or used again. Rape can be many things but romantic and comfortable are not involved in it.
I am not a prude I have enjoyed stories/PWP that have featured bondage, toys, kinks, rough sex, and some truly hard yaoi. I have also been disgusted by stories that have claimed they carried those things yet carried only rape. The biggest difference between the two is consent, if you want a story to be believed as romance than please try to write it as such.
If you received a review that states or asks that you add a warning, know that the reviewer is speaking for him/herself and other reviewers who may not have bothered leaving reviews (either in annoyance or disgust). Please pay heed as it is not an attack against you as an author nor is it necessarily an attack on your story, it’s merely a call for you to be more responsible; because just as you have the right to your opinion other’s have the right to theirs. Personally if I find a story truly disgusting I will simply not leave a review at all, or if I feel the need (as in some rape fics) I’ll simply ask them to add a better warning and then leave, never to return.
No matter my opinion of a story I will always try to stay at the very least cordial, so please try to be the same. If it seemed mean or hurtful know that it just means that I was unable to get my true message across (I do sometimes have a hard time expressing the correct words), so please feel free to contact me in a private message and I’ll try to better explain my words and actions. Alas, I am human so I may seem to rant in my review to you; but it is still not against you personally, I’ve too much respect for the bravery of the author to out and out say that I hate their story, and as I don't know you personally I simply can't make a decision like hating you, either.
You don't want to get a bad review from me it's easy to avoid: be thoughtful and accurate in your chosen theme and above all be honest and accurate in your warning, at the very least I'll leave you alone and at the most I'll give you praise for your thoroughness (even if I don't read your story, I do more times than not leave a review/PM stating my pleasure at your responsibility and thoughtfulness). So win/win yeah?
Here's an example of a story that contain many of my issues (including no warning)follows as:
In it there were three individuals involved together, there was a war that separated them so that two of the three were together and one was left behind. During the 2/3 years that the war waged the two had sex every night (consensual, so no problems yet) after the war ended they returned and discover that the one that they had left behind had an affair. The most dominate one then proceeded to rape him using his fingers, leaving him quite bloody, because he felt he deserved it for cheating. All the while the other one that also returned with the dominate one sat and watched (almost feeling guilty) but did nothing to stop it. The victim is them portrayed as enjoying the fact that they were there (he didn’t enjoy that act and even told him to stop), after the rape the dominate one walks off and the other one then proceeds to have sex with the injured one because he (the victim) “wanted it”. After they had screwed, the dominate one returns and has sex with him as well, because suddenly everything’s okay since he was “punished”. There are so many things wrong with this story. Know that there is NO excuse for rape at all. Yes, he cheated but there was no agreement at all that they would all remain celibate (remember that the other two remained screwing that whole time).
This story was also presented as a romance/comfort story, which quite frankly I never saw.
I'm intentionally leaving the specifics of it vague as I don't wish to disparage the writer, though if you doubt me or are curious I can tell you what information about it that I remember (series and pairings) in a PM, then I'll let you be the judge.
On the bright side if I like you as an author I will read and review all of your stories that look interesting to me (sometime I’ll read all of them). So if you suddenly get a crap load of reviews Congratulations I truly love your work and that means that I'll likely add you to my favorites! I'll also address you in a private message to applaud how highly I think of you as an author and how great your writing skills are because at that point I feel that you truly deserve the recognition, so please accept the praise.
Got an issue with anything I've said or do you agree or disagree with my views? Feel free to write me and ask, you don't have to act like my best friend (but try to at least be cordial); likewise I'll try to be respectful to you. Know that I'll also update my profile if I find out anything else that bugs me enough.
