Author has written 5 stories for Final Fantasy XIII, and Kuroshitsuji.
Hello and welcome to my profile! I've just published my first book, so at the moment my creativity is a bit drained (like how I imagine when you have a baby, sex doesn't seem all that appealing for some weeks). No worries though, I still plan on finishing Unfamiliar Territory, as well as the Kuroshitsuji fic I have out.
Music I listen to while writing: E.S Posthumus & Two Steps From Hell (if you're doing a fight scene, this is the stuff to listen to), Curse of the Golden Flower OST, The XX, Hans Zimmer (the Kraken :D) various game soundtracks (like all the Final Fantasies), Maxis (the sims building music? sheer nostalgia), My Turn to Evil (Letters vs Numbers), Miyavi (sometimes)... I usually try not to listen to songs with catchy lyrics (unless I'm already used to them) because then I find myself wiggling to the beat and singing along instead of writing.
Favorite things to write about: I love writing tragedy (and I'm slightly biased to anything taboo) but really, I'll write about anything. If it can be put into words, it'll be there.
Favorite scenes in games: FFXIII; Lol, I didn't even think of Light and Hope as a pair until a friend of mine brought it to my attention, and I got to the part where LxH just got to the Gapra Whitewood and Hope wants to show Light that he could take point and she's all like, "I'll watch the rear" or something like that, and at the time my dad's watching me and he mutters, "Cougar"...I about died laughing. Now the part where it's just Light, Sazh, Hope and Vanille (relatively early in the game) and Light's doing her little spiel of taking matters to Eden--and her theme is playing dramatically in the background--but she has this line where she's saying seriously, "I don't take orders from fal'cie. How I live is up to me." Catch that? It rhymes! Her face was so...stern, so stoically said--I dunno, I just couldn't take her seriously...not when she rhymes.
Guess what? For all you die hard XIII players, I was going around trying to get 5-star ratings on all the missions (pretty much all you can do once the game is finished) and oh yeah, that really super duper bummerific hard mission at the end with Vercingetorix (or whatever his name is)? I FINALLY beat it! Seriously, I had to try so many times and I'd always get real close to defeating him, but then I'd mess up somewhere, like maybe I didn't change paradigms fast enough and they all got toast, or I freaked because Hope died and who carries around phoenix downs when you can just change Light to medic because it totally won't waste any time, right? I got him though...after 30 minutes or so and I was so stoked because this whole time I've been playing since the game 'ended', there hasn't been any narration anymore, they're all so quiet, running along without ever saying a word--and when you beat this bad boy, Light runs up and shouts, "It's over!" before striking him in half and I get so excited 'cuz I'm like, OMFG, she talked! I got the gold watch and me and my little arrogant self marched to Orphan, thinking I'd easily get a 5 rating so I could unlock the superstar trophy--yeah, it didn't happen. I mean it's not like I died...I just never seem to get all those shiny stars. I even tried using weak weapons like the guide suggested. So that's my new mission.
My thoughts on XIII-2: All I can say is--WHERE IS THE LOVE, PEOPLE? I hate to say it, but love's got something to do with it...I think that's what could've made the first XIII even better. Now before you start throwing socks at me (what's she talking about? She saying what Snow and Serah had for each other wasn't real enough?). No, not at all, but I do believe it could've been deeper; XIII had the potential: with Light looking after Hope and Sazh forgiving Vanille and Fang...holding back no shame...but in XIII-2 (at least so far), I'm not getting the warm fuzzy feeling, there's not enough character growth, everything is a bit superficial. You've got the Noel and Yeul thing going on and Cauis is just misunderstood like most villians, but I don't know man, it's a great game so far and I love it--I JUST WANT MORE, I'LL ALWAYS WANT MORE. Who knows, maybe it'll blow my mind once I actually finish the game. Update: Unfortunately, my opinion hasn't changed. In fact, I'm going to shout a big WTF. The secret ending wasn't so secret (seriously, I figured that out way before) and all it did was vanquish the little respect and compassion I had for Caius (I mean all it did was carve in stone that the guy's a total douche). But I still think his voice is sexy and my desire for him read me a bedtime story will never abate.
