Author has written 21 stories for Harry Potter.
I haven’t updated my profile in a while so I thought now would be a good time. There seems to be a lot happening in the FF world at the moment. I guess the main one is one of our own has started posting again. It is so good to see Old Crow as he has been one of the ones who have inspired me to write my own stories.
If you look at my favorite authors page, those are just but a few of the ones who I would recommend almost any story they come up with. I see robst putting out these stories that just make me say ‘wow’ while others like Herman Tumbleweed keeps me amused.
I would like to say thanks to many of them who have taken the time to coach, support, and advise me over the last couple of years.
I think something most readers need to understand is that we, the writers of FF, really face a challenge for originality. If you look at the number of stories available and remember we are dealing with one series of books, the potential for 'clichés' is enormous. If others are like me, and I know they are, we read so much in here that ideas do blend together whether we intend to or not. Many times we are giving a similar story our own twist.
Something about me is that I will never write smut or horror. I just don't feel comfortable with writing those topics. I will also try to keep the language fairly clean. I am not putting down anyone else and I mean that sincerely but to me, droppin the 'f' bomb all the time does not add to the story. In fact in some cases, I just move on and stop reading it and that is sad because there are some truly great stories out there that do just that.
I guess it would help to add a little about me. I am 50 years old and live in 'The South' of the US. My interests have been in history and quite the opposite, science fiction. I'm a big fan of Star Wars, Star Trek, Farscape, Stargate and many others.
It goes without saying that I am a Harry Potter fan every since my twenty year old twins began bringing the books home when they were in elementary school. In a search for more to read on the topic, I ran across this site and have been hooked ever since.
Some of my favorite movies are "The Mummy" series, The 'National Treasure' series, the ‘Underworld’ series, and the Highlander series. In my ideas folder on my computer, there are files that I have been playing with for some time in an effort to create workable stories.
Some of my favorite pairings in Harry Potter are:
I also enjoy most stories that pair Harry with Hermione, Tonks, Luna, and any of the lesser known characters.
Any of you who have read the stuff I come up with know that I am not a fan of Harry/Ginny. I had a
Ok…it’s no secret that I am not a fan of the Weasleys. I love Fred, George, and Arthur. I actually like Ginny but not with Harry. In fact, I take non developed characters and pair them with Harry just like JK did and just so you know, one of my ideas is actually a Harry/Ginny pairing which shows just what she did to win Harry. Thankfully, in my story, she doesn't use potions or sex to win his heart. When I will post it I don;t know as it is a WIP.
Anyway, I will admit I can be mean to Hermione but that does not mean I don’t like her. In fact, I’d have to say that except for a few qualities which we at FF tend to exaggerate, I absolutely adore her. In my eyes, she has been and always will be Harry’s soul mate. They were just too connected and in tune with each other for there not to have been a romantic connection. I mean come on, both of them would have gladly died for the other and almost did on several occasions. The things I do to her or the way I make her act at times is no reflection of what I would have really wanted to see at the end of the story. I think I proved that point with Escape.
As far as Ron is concerned, I just can’t help but to not like his character. He does manage to redeem himself on occasion but after the way he treated Hermione when they were younger, it just screams wrong to me. Harry would have been a much stronger character if he had made friends with some of the other boys in the school even if they were Slytherins.
I also like the stories where Harry and Neville do the male bonding thing and both come out stronger for it. One of the best is Clell’s marriage contracts story. I’ve read it so many times.
The best Dobby story has to be Kassien’s Runic Animagi and it is where I get most of my Dobby inspiration from.
As far as where I stand on my current stories.
My remake of Harry and Suzy is currently stalled. I got hung up on a part and it has made me rethink a lot of what I wanted to do. I know it has been over six months since I posted on it and hopefully I will get over my block sooner or later.
In the meantime, I have a couple of possibilities that I am working on which we might see posted soon. I have also debated on one of those one shot/idea stories that seem to be popular these days. That may or may not happen as I might just work them to completion and post them individually.
01/08/16 - Yes I'm still around but haven't been very inspired lately except to read. I've taken down my Harry & Suzy stories for the time being until I start working on them again. They are not dead or up for adoption but on a continuing hiatus.
