Fan Fiction writers have enjoyed creating a history for Matthew Stetson, but what if the family tradition of service in the intelligence field went even further back, all the way back to the American Civil War? This is my idea of a historical prequel to the story of our favorite 'spy family'.

For this story, I've used my imagination about the years before Lee joined the Agency, since the show's writers told us very little about his early life. When dealing with events during the years the show was broadcast, I've tried to stay in canon, but once the show ended, I let my imagination run free, while still staying in character, I think.
