yo. i've been on this site for a little while but i've been a bit lazy in updating my profile. well here it is.
name: not telling
occupation: like i'm going to put that on the internet.
Thats all i'm putting about myself. i've got a lot of favorites but my all time favorite categories on this site are: naruto, ranma, inuyasha, bleach, negima, mass effect, halo, and danny phantom. i've got others but i'm too lazy to actually remember their names off the top of my head.
things i hate
crossovers where the writer can't even out the characters abilities. i don't really count dragonball z in that. its impossible to really even out dragonball z with anything because the fighers can blow a planet up with their freaking fingers.
people who interrupt what others are saying.
overpowering characters. i don't like god like characters. it just takes away some of the fun of the story if the character can just kill the opposition with a flick of their finger
country music. nothing wrong with it but my sister listens to it all the time and it has finally driven me to the point of near insanity.
not really a hate but it definitely annoys me that some people don't do the proper research and get something wrong in universe when they're writing a fanfic. I can understand if the canon doesn't give any real explanation for how things work but if you actually have the ability to research it, you should. for example: i read a lot of the naruto fanfics and people usually don't get the fact that just because one has an affinity doesn't mean that they can instantly use that element in their jutsu. also, an affinity isn't needed in order to use an element, the affinity just means that it's easier to train that element. the reason you don't usually find people using all of the elements is because it takes a ludicrous amount of time just to train in one element; years if i remember right. it's why there's special circumstances needed to actually gain mastery in all of the elements. the Sharingan allowed a user to simply copy jutsu, the Rinnegan allowed a Ninja to have an affinity for all the elements, and another example is fuka from the anime, who used a technique to suck out the chakra of other's and then gain all of their techniques and strengthen her own affinity, note that in order to keep from damaging herself she put her soul into her hair and in order to use techniques of a certain element she had to switch bodies. i think the strength of the affinity just dictated how fast one could learn to change their chakra nature.
recently, I've come to hate harems that aren't already a part of Canon.
crossovers i don't really like? there's only one really. dragon ball z and it's other incarnations. there's no real way to even out the two realities. you can get a character to become stronger to match them but then goku just goes super saiyan. there's no way to even them out so when i finally have something out, I'm never gong to do a dragon ball crossover.
there is one thing i hate above all others: Bash Fics. Bash Fics are Fics in which the Author constantly belittles or exagerates the bad qualities of a character to extreme ends in order to express their distaste for that character. for instance, a bash fic might have Sasuke from Naruto turn completely bat shit insane and power hungry from the very beginning, exclaim that all people around him are nothing more than tools, and mean it, and is willing to kill all of those around him in order to gain more power. that's a bash.
Die for our ship: I hate bashing in general. I understand that there are characters that people don't like, but that doesn't mean that they should go out of their way to bash them in their fics. Die for our ship, though, is something that I particularly dislike. It comes about in two ways: the first is that one of the pair in a canon pairing gets killed off so that the desired partner is free, while the second is when one of the pair gets bashed to oblivion and back so that the desired partner feels disgusted by their canon pairing partner. I hate both.
Nerfing: well, I didn't even know that I hated this until a little while ago, but i apparently don't like it when a character gets nerfed. It bugs the hell out of me in a way that I just can't put my finger on, and it's seriously annoying. it seems even worse when the character hasn't been crossed over. I understand that the writer might need to nerf a character to fit their plot, but it bugs me to no end to see that done to a character that should have been able to at least draw with another character but only end up getting horribly stomped. That is all.
Well, this just popped to mind: why is it that when i read a good fic where the writer appears to have some skill with the english language that i find out that a good number of them are written by authors in places like Sweden or other overseas countries? A good number of bad fics i find on here that look like they were written by a five year old with dyslexia are written by people here in the States...it's a depressing thing when people who have English as a second language can write better than us...so very depressing.
kinda random thought: I was reading some Naruto fanfiction, and i noticed that authors who gender-bend naruto tend to emphasize any possibly enhanced senses from the kyuubi than other naruto fanfiction authors. Just saying, could be wrong.
