Author has written 17 stories for Avatar, and Harry Potter.
I don't like works that ignore a writer's original storyline; I feel that kind of destroys the point of fanfiction. There are, however, exceptions to the rule, and the one's I like are truly exceptional.
I'm not Harry Potter crazy; there are many far better works of literature out there, I write fanfiction to improve my writing. Once in a while though I read other people's stuff and mostly I enjoy it. I'm not a literature snob though; I enjoy anything with a good storyline. But the very best stuff makes you think deeply and wonder how someone could possibly have come up with that.
I like stories to do with the Marauders and decent portrayals of Teddy Lupin. I don't rate anything non-canon unless some serious thought, followed by very convincing writing has been put towards it. I'm mostly a Rowling writer on here, but I like exploring some Avatar stuff; it's nicely different.
Some books I'd recommend:
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas (Edmond Dantes is my favourite character of all time)
Fight Club, Rant, Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk (just read them)
Glamorama by Bret Easton-Ellis (this will actually blow your mind)
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon (simply enchanting)
