Thank you all so much for sticking with me through Legacy! I know it's a bit early for an "end of story" spiel, but we're close enough. Honestly, I don't think I've ever had as much fun writing a story as I have with this one, and it makes me sad to see it end for that reason, but I don't plan on stopping with this 'verse with the completion of Legacy. I want to write a couple shorter stories with my OCs, and then I'd really like to extend the universe into the actual plot of FFVII, starting with Genesis' degradation. And I know some people have been a little disgruntled with my use of OCs, but I can't make everybody happy. There are tons of (better) stories in this fandom that deal strictly with the canon characters, no OCs included. Noir is who I'm having fun with, so Noir is who I'm going to stay with
Anyway, thank you all so, so much for reading, and you can look forward to what might end up being the last chapter! I don't know! Depends on how long it takes for me to wrap everything up.
A collective Happy Birthday to Laito, Kanato, and Ayato Sakamaki! I had my wisdom tooth pulled out on Laito's birthday. Thanks, Laito. I'm glad to know you love me too.
My first Final Fantasy VII fanfiction was Woodchuck Day. Before that, I wrote Star Wars fanfiction that you don't want to read, and what I wrote before that isn't something that I'm willing to admit on the internet. After watching Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children with absolutely no frame of reference, I embarked on a mission to find more context. Wikipedia led me to the game Crisis Core, and after watching a Let's Play of the game, I was a little stunned because I hadn't realized a video game, of all things, would have me in tears by the end.
I was prompted to write Woodchuck Day due to circumstances similar to the story; my new laptop had gotten a virus, so I was forced to use my ancient desktop computer until the laptop was fixed. I posted it, not thinking it would amount to anything because I'd never tried writing short stories before. Then I got a couple of positive reviews and so I thought to myself, “Hey. Perhaps I can do this fanfiction thing.”
Aside from writing fanfiction, I also write a lot of my own original fiction. I aspire to, someday, be a published author. My spare time is spent writing, drinking tea, watching Let's Plays, listening to music, and wishing that I had a horse. I have this weird habit of constantly changing my avatar and the information in my profile.
Final Fantasy VII: Genesis Rhapsodos, Zack Fair, Kadaj, Cloud Strife
About Cloud and Genesis
It was a bit of a fluke that Cloud and Genesis even became a thing. My original intent was to write Zack and Genesis as friends, but that all changed when Genesis caught Cloud hanging up posters for Sephiroth's knitting classes in Knitting. That story was never finished and has since been removed, but the two have been pretty inseparable since. My FFVII stories usually feature Genesis as Cloud's mentor, and I will usually specify whether Cloud is a cadet or a SOLDIER Third at the beginning of the story. Very often it's the latter.
About Intelligent Conversation
Intelligent Conversation is a collection of short stories in which Genesis Rhapsodos and Cloud Strife attempt to solve the mysteries of the world surrounding them and/or get into trouble. There is no overarching storyline, but the events are somewhat sequential. In this series, Genesis acts as a mentor-figure to Cloud. Intelligent Conversation is updated at random and I take suggestions for future chapters in reviews.
About Making the Cut
Making the Cut centers around Genesis Rhapsodos, who is challenged to a bet by Sephiroth that he won't be able to train Cadet Cloud Strife well enough to pass his SOLDIER performance evaluation. However, Genesis is faced with a moral dilemma when he begins to see Cloud as more than just a means to an end. Making the Cut is my first novel-length piece, and was completed on December 18, 2013. It was originally supposed to be only 4 or 5 chapters long, but it took on a life of its own rather quickly. The response to this story has been mind-boggling. Know that you, dear readers, are the reason Making the Cut has a “The End.”
Legacy is the sequel to Making the Cut, and is currently in progress. Cloud Strife has been accepted into SOLDIER, but all does not go as planned. His new roommate is his arch-nemesis, his new instructor hates him, and one of his classmates seems to have it out for him--but he doesn't know who. Legacy features a partial-OC cast: SOLDIER First Class Noir Décès, Cloud's instructor, and SOLDIER Thirds Vivien, Belle, Renata, and Eve, Cloud's classmates. The reason I've opted to use OCs is because Legacy captures an aspect of FFVII (the lower levels of SOLDIER) where there just aren't characters. Plus, I wanted to share some of my own characters with you all.
Why do all your male OCs have girl names? ...Well, why not? :D
About My Characters
The antiRemnants are my personal creations. Sort of. Jadak, Yuza, and Zol are backwards versions of Kadaj, Yazoo, and Loz. They first made their appearances in Making the Cut, and are cadets alongside Cloud Strife. They have no actual ties to the real Remnants, however. The Jadak who makes a cameo in Intelligent Conversation was the prototype version of the current Jadak. Credit for Yuza's name goes to Constance Truggle.
Storm Fairbanks was first introduced in Lost. He's my original character and, outside of his role in that story, usually gets to be "that random cadet." He's kind of like a replacement of Cloud Strife, as Cloud is usually a SOLDIER Third in my AU. His physical description is as follows: Shaggy brown hair, green eyes, short. Shorter than Cloud.
hates everyone. Including you. Especially you. SOLDIER First Class.
Vivien loves everyone. He is a perpetual flirt and doesn't hold his alcohol well. SOLDIER Third Class.
Belle is highly introverted and is always very frank about his opinions. Has a minor (major) obsession with moogles. SOLDIER Third Class.
Renata is an idiot. He can most often be found with Belle. SOLDIER Third Class.
Eve doesn't understand the point of having friends. Especially friends like Vivien. SOLDIER Third Class.
Making the Cut
The LOVELESS Incident
I get asked a lot about where Genesis' can opener obsession came from. Here's how it went down: My mom and I stay over at my aunt's house a lot while she's away to take care of their animals and while we were there a few years ago, my mom decided to clean the kitchen. She found not one, not two, not three, but nine can openers in the drawers. And the only one of them that actually worked was the one with the broken handle. It became a bit of a joke between my mom and I; having tons of can openers for no apparent reason. I liked the idea so much, I decided to apply it to Genesis. And that's how it happened.
