Well, looks like it's time to revise my profile again. Hopefully, this one lasts longer than three months before I become dissatisfied with it.
Yes, hello, welcome to my profile page, and whichever other pleasantries to which you are accustomed. You may be expecting a grandiose, detailed, or otherwise impressive introduction, and it would certainly tickle my fancy to write such an introduction, but I shall (mostly) abstain, for two different reasons. First, and most importantly, that isn't who I am. I'm not the sort of person to extol my own virtues; I'd much rather let others make their own judgements, and let my accomplishments, such as they are, speak for themselves.
Second, I rather like cultivating an air of mystery about myself, with regards to certain aspects of my identity. So, to that end, here is how I've decided to introduce myself:
As you've probably guessed simply from being here, I am cerebralconfinement, though I'd much prefer that you call me Cici for short. I live somewhere in the United States, attend a school of one type or another, and am in possession of a particular mental disorder that tends to interfere with my endeavors in the field of writing. As for the rest, I'll leave that for you to figure out. I can't say I care one way or another.
Now, a bit of elaboration on that mental disorder, seeing as I consider it rather important information. I've been diagnosed with ADHD-PI, the predominantly inattentive form of the disorder. I realize that it's probable that when I mention ADD or ADHD (which, for the record, are simply two names for the same thing), the impression that you immediately get is that of someone who constantly interrupts themselves to point out a butterfly or something shiny for no purpose but that of making themselves seem "interesting"; mainly because that's the image of the disorder I had when I first joined this site. It's probably easy to guess what statement I was leading up to with that, but that's a laughable simplification. I don't get distracted by silly, superficial things like that, and even if I did, I certainly wouldn't go to the trouble of typing it out or saying it out loud.
To be brief, ADHD inhibits the prioritization of thoughts. A normal person might start searching for a specific thing in a room, and categorize anything else they see as "unimportant", and therefore not pay those other thing a significant amount of attention. However, when I begin searching a room for something specific, nearly everything catches my eye. I am unable to categorize any of the objects scattered around the room as "unimportant", and as such, I may find myself sitting down to play a game of solitaire when I had meant to be looking for my phone, or I might start browsing the Internet during time I had intended to spend writing.
Hopefully, that makes sense. I can never be sure with this sort of thing.
Right, I should probably say something about my fanfics.
Most of 'em are dead, either due to lack of interest in the subject matter, or because I ran out of ideas midway through.
Pretty much the only one that I'm going to be continuing is Aegis of Mist. Right now, I'm rewriting the first chapter to be more coherent and meaningful, seeing as the current form of the first chapter is basically all fluff. I'm also planning out the plotline a lot more than I did before, so once those two things are done, I should be able to actually update it on a semi-regular basis. And finally, I'm renaming it to Starlight Guardian, mainly because Aegis of Mist feels...formulaic, for lack of a better term.
Update: I'm doing NaNoWriMo for the second year in a row, and I'll be writing Starlight Guardian through November. I don't know whether I'll post chapters as I finish them, or just use November to build up a backlog before I finish the fic (since I'm not sure I'll finish in one month) and begin posting in December. Either way, that's coming soon.
