Author has written 6 stories for Tales of the Abyss, Pokémon, and Harry Potter.
Hello there, and welcome to my Profile!
Things about me:
I'm a girl, my age is 20, and my name is Ashley. Anyone who knows I'm a fan of Tales of the Abyss might find it funny to know that on more than one occasion I've accidentally spelled my name as 'Aschley'.
I LOVE reviews, seriously. Can't love them enough. I'm not gonna lie, you guys, sometimes I get a little irritated when I see a whole bunch of people follow and favorite one of my stories and don't leave even a small review. I have close to 100 followers on one of my stories and only an average of about 3-7 of them review every chapter. The thought makes me sad and doubt my writing.
Though I am extremely grateful for the reviews I DO have, I love feedback from everyone and anyone.
I won't lie and say I promise to update my stories constantly, it gets less likely when no one shows interest in my work. Of course my motivation to write on that subject and how much I have going on in my life is a big part of it too. I'm sure most of the other authors on this site understand what I'm talking about. After all, we're not being paid for this.
But even if I haven't updated a story in months because no one has reviewed, I refuse to be one of those irritating authors that complain about not getting as many reviews as they wanted on a chapter or actually hold their story hostage for reviews. You all know the ones I'm talking about, the ones that say things like "I won't update until I get ten reviews on this chapter!" They annoy the hell out of me (and to be honest, make me not want to review and stop reading their story immediately even if it is decent).
On the subject of reviews, I try to review as often as possible when I'm reading a story I enjoy. Though I admit I'm not the best at reviewing, I do try to say SOMETHING.
Since everyone else seems to be doing it:
Books: Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Blood Red Road, Lovely Bones, Lord of the Rings, too many others to list.
TV Shows: The Big Bang theory, How I Met Your Mother, Criminal Minds, Hostages...etc.
Anime/Mangas: FMA:Brotherhood, Ouran High School Host Club, Bleach, Naruto, Pokemon, Deathnote...too many to list.
Games: Tales of the Abyss/Symphonia/Vesperia/Graces/Xillia, Pokemon, Harvest Moon, Devil Survivor, and more.
Things I look for in writing/stories:
Pairings: Anything that's not GuyxNatalia, basically. xD Or anything that isn't some weird HermionexAny of her teachers/someone way older than her/doesn't make any sense. I also don't care for male on male, female on female stories, though that's just personal preference and not an opinion on anything.
Do they have a proper grasp on the language?: Of course I'm more accepting if it's a person who doesn't speak English as a first language, but if they DO speak it as a first language, there's really no excuse for not capitalizing the word 'I'. -_- In conversations with friends on the internet it's one thing, but in actual stories? Not so much. If I see hundreds of very obvious grammar mistakes in the first chapter, I'm out.
Are the canon characters in character?: This is the biggest thing for me! If you're going and butchering my favorite character(s) in any given fandom, no way in hell I'll be continuing to read. Personal opinion: if you don't know the story and characters well enough, maybe play the game/watch the show more until you do before starting your story. Do your research, please! All the greatest authors on this site have the greatest stories on this site because they know who/what they're they're writing about!
Are the OCs likable?: In other words, if they're Mary-Sues, no thanks. If I see someone writing a character who I think will end up being a Mary-Sue, I try to point it out to them in the nicest way possible just so they're aware. If they take the advice and try to steer clear of Mary-Sueness, good for them, and I'll stick around and see how their story goes. On the other hand, if they're one of those ignorant writers who thinks their story/character is just the most awesome thing around and yells at anyone for not agreeing with them, then goodbye.
I give a lot of things a shot, but they'll most definitely lose my interest if they're not written well. But really, doesn't everyone here have their preferences that they stick to?
Stories I'm working on right now (In order of priority during the moment I'm typing this):
1) Not What it Seems (Tales of the Abyss, OC insert, changes in game plot (mostly later on))
2) Identical (Harry Potter, OC insert, based around Fred and George Weasley, starts in their first year)
3) Titles (Series of drabbles based on the titles each ToTA character gets during the game. No OCs.)
4) The Way We See It (Title is still up for debate, hasn't been published yet. Essentially this is a series of one-shots from the POV of the God-Generals in Tales of the Abyss. Will be done in order of their deaths. Spoilers for the game. No OCs.)
5) Fate Has a Twisted Sense of Humor (Pokemon, self-insert, based in Kanto, plenty of OCs, gameverse with bits of animeverse thrown in. The second chapter was accidentally deleted and I had no backup since I got a new laptop, so I've lost a bit of inspiration for this one)

I like to think I'm a friendly person, so feel free to message me if you feel like it, or even if you have a question or would like someone's opinion on something you're working on. :) I love talking to people here and on dA.
The only thing I will ever paste onto my profile:
A large percent of writers don't know the difference between:
