Author has written 3 stories for Books of History Chronicles, Elantris, and Dust: An Elysian Tail.

UPDATE 3/14/14: I'm 17 now, and my life is completely different. However, I didn't want to just erase the bio below, because I feel it was very well written, though not at all true anymore.

I'm no longer a writer. I can write a short story every now and again, but I've given up on the possibility of writing for a living. I used to be unable to imagine not being a writer, but things happened. A mental condition developed that could make even the simplest things difficult, and writing fiction was one of the abilities that I lost. I tried to hold onto it for so long, but in the end I could not. Now I can only write on occasion, but I still do enjoy it when I can do it.

Also, I'm now a soundtrack enthusiast. That's all Doctor Who's fault.

P.S. In the original bio below, which I've left for you to read, I say that Runescape sucks. It doesn't, really.

Original Profile, 1/5/2012:

My name is Reuben Horst, and I am a man of 15. Whether a person is a child or a man depends on their mind, not their age. Well, partially their age, but that's beside the point. I was just explaining why I called myself a man, rather than a boy. I could go by either, but I prefer man. It sounds less... childish.

I've been writing for multiple years now, and I am a frequent reader and fan of authors such as Ted Dekker, Steven James, Tosca Lee, Erin Healy and Randy Alcorn. I am a Christian, though that term is bashed around so much these days, so I refer to myself as an Elyonite. Elyon is the name of God in Ted Dekker's fantasy series, the Circle Trilogy (Black, Red and White), along with many spin-offs and sequels that ultimately make up a mega-series called the Books of History Chronicles.

I've been writing fanfics since I was about 10, originally writing fan stories for franchises such as BIONICLE. At that time I was a bigger Lego/Bionicle fan then probably anybody you know or will ever meet. I own all of the books and comics, and a ton of the sets. A Bionicle fan website, BZPower, was the first site I ever regularly visited on the internet (Runescape doesn't count, because it pretty much... sucks), though I have long since moved on.

I am a huge fan of the Stargate franchise, and Stargate Atlantis is my favorite TV series of all time. Other science fiction franchises I enjoy are Firefly, Star Wars, and occasionally Star Trek. My favorite science fiction novel is a YA novel, Invitation to the Game by Monica Hughes, though that is mostly because I have not been exposed to enough science fiction novels. I plan on reading the Ender's Game series sometime soon, and I plan on eventually writing a science fiction novel or series. My favorite science fiction video game series is Metroid.

I am a part of a Facebook writing group that is pretty much made up of the coolest people in the entire world, and they have really inspired me to write more in these past several months then ever before. I seriously see no future for myself except as a novelist. I'm best at formal writing and I'm an experienced apologist, but writing stories just take the cake. At present I am writing a young adult novel called Starborn.

You can go here to check out my personal blog. There are a few original short stories by me there, but they're mostly buried in the archives.

And now here are some of my favorite things:

Favorite author: Steven James
Favorite novel: The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster
Favorite book series: The Paradise Books by Ted Dekker (Showdown, Saint, Sinner)
Favorite movie(s): The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Bourne Trilogy
Favorite sci-fi TV series: Stargate Atlantis
Favorite comedy TV series: Hogan's Heroes (the only decent comedy ever made)
Favorite actor: Richard Dean Anderson (MacGyver, Stargate SG-1)
Favorite actress: Jewel Staite (Firefly, Stargate Atlantis)
Favorite video game(s): The Legend of Zelda, Metroid
Favorite band(s): Theocracy
Favorite food(s): Strangely unknown

Thank you and good luck!

Reuben Horst, a.k.a. Arkatox
