The Nolde updates Thursdays.
Family Ties updates every other Monday (except till the end of September, when I'll try to update twice a week, because I left you hanging over most of the summer)
Finding Balance updates...eh. Whenever I actually make myself write another chapter. There are huge gaps between them, 'cause I've been consumed by inspiration for other fandoms. It might get better after I'm done with editing The Nolde at least, but that will be a while, that story is huge.)
I'm a 26 years old grad student (thesis topic: religion of pre-Islamic Arabia) and a private English teacher (so if you discover any language mistakes, don't tell my students). I grew up with Harry Potter, literally: I was 11 when I started the first book and 18 when I finished the last one. I have a soft spot for all Black sisters, Andromeda being the least favourite and Bellatrix my fav. Narcissa comes a close second, though, after reading Memento Mori by coffeecupcakegirl (a great story, if you haven't read it yet, off with you).
As far as male characters go, Severus Snape is a clear favourite, then nothing for a long time, then Bill Weasley, Kingsley Shacklebolt and Mad-Eye Moody, I guess.
I have a fondness for SSHGs (I might even publish one some day, I already started writing), and I generally prefer post-Hogwarts and post-War fics, since I prefer adult characters; why I decided that Harry Potter is going to be my favourite series is anybody's guess, really.
I detest the Marauders, and so I generally avoid that era; I genuinely like Next Generation, on the other hand. As for other dislikes, I can't do Snarry.
Apart from Memento Mori, my favourite HP stories would be those by AriadneAWS and Loten (yep, SSHG reader to the core), and The Best Revenge by Arsinoe de Blassenville.
As per the release of the last StarTrek film, Into Darkness, I am also officially obsessed with Spock/Uhura. It's the new SSHG. Really, it has everything: an emotionally distant man (well, Vulcan) who has issues with his father, a student-teacher relationship, mind reading...In this area I especially recommend The Logical Choice by writerfan2013. In this fandom, I avoid Spirk like the plague, which probably makes me something of a black sheep, but the idea that two men can't be really close friends without there being anything romantic between them just irritates me.
2014 brought me a new obsession: BBC's Sherlock. Yeah, if it has an emotionally distant man, bring it on. My favourite character there is Mycroft, closely followed by Irene Adler. Stories about both of them are being worked on at the moment, long ones as well as a number of one-shots. Because I obviously have so much free time, with my thesis and everything. I avoid Johnlonck for the same reason I avoid Spirk, see above.
The Hobbit films made me want to get into the universe again, and so after years of being a huge Tolkien nerd, I've started writing and reading fanfiction as well. Tolkien is the only fandom where I read slash in copious amounts, too - either it's because there are almost no women, or because I'm a mean person and knowing Tolkien was a conservative Catholic, I just like messing with him in this way.
More generally, I like to write drama and read drama, because I'm a terrible person who likes torturing characters. I'm also a sucker for Enemies to Friends to Lovers, or just Enemies to Lovers, or just Enemies to Friends...well. You catch my drift. Also, seemingly unrequited pining that gets resolved ftw.
I dislike blatant OOC (unless there's a good reason for it) and, most of all, casual AU*. So please, please, if you find anything contrary to canon in one of my stories that isn't explained in an AN (which I always do when I knowingly deviate from canon), let me know! I'm a canon freak, I can't just let it be! :))
See you around!
(* By that, I mean when things are noncanonical because the author never bothered to check the relevant Wiki entries, not because they made a conscious choice for a reason.)
Currently working on one AU HP novel-length and one Tolkienverse novel length. There are also some Sherlock stories I've started to write, and some ASoIaF ones, and even one Doctor Who. But those were all momentary ideas that I didn't want to let go so I wrote down what I had at the moment and I have no idea if/when I'll get around to making a proper story out of them.
And I still believe I will finish Finding Balance one day - no telling how soon though. It's currently on sort-of hiatus. I have an idea for another sequel after that, and then for a couple of TOS stories with Spock. And perhaps for one Voyager story. And a one-shot with Spock and Sarek. And an Amanda/Sarek story...
Harry Potter stories, apart from that AU one, seem to be on the sidelines for the moment. The main reason probably is that the core story of what I see as my main universe, Born to Fight, sorely needs a rewrite (it was my first long story), but it's 100 chapters long, so I somewhat lack the motivation. All the other stories from that universe tie up to that one, however, so there's no point in posting them before BtF. The original version, in all its dreadfulness, is at HPFF. Apart from that, I have an idea for a Founders' Era, a crossover, a couple of SSHGs and some other things. In other words, I certainly don't lack ideas. Not sure when I'll get around to turning them into reality, but at the very least, I'm planning on continuing my Severus and Hermione birthday series.
I'm slowly starting to post over at AO3 too, and if I ever get around to writing anything really explicit (I've been meaning to for ages, but when I get to the scene in question, my courage deserts me), it'll probably be only posted there.
