Author has written 15 stories for Harry Potter, Star Trek: 2009, Sherlock, and Night Watch.
Everyone who writes or has ever written any Harry Potter fanfiction, could you please fill out this form for me? It takes five minutes, tops, and I need it for a paper I'm writing...thanks!
I'm a 25 years old MA student (majors: religious studies - Islam and Christianity) and a private English teacher (so if you discover any language mistakes, don't tell my students). I grew up with Harry Potter, literally: I was 11 when I started the first book and 18 when I finished the last one. I have a soft spot for all Black sisters, Andromeda being the least favourite and Bellatrix my favourite character ever. Narcissa comes a close second, though, after reading Memento Mori by coffeecupcakegirl, my favourite story of all time. If you haven't read it yet, off with you.
As far as male characters go, Severus Snape is a clear favourite, then nothing for a long time, then Bill Weasley, Kingsley Shacklebolt and Mad-Eye Moody, I guess.
Lately, I have a fondness for SSHGs (I might even publish one some day, I already started writing) and Severus-adopts-Harry, although I'm extremely picky about these.
I generally prefer post-Hogwarts and post-War fics, since I prefer adult characters; why I decided that Harry Potter is going to be my favourite series is anybody's guess, really.
I like to write drama and to use OCs to glue together various canon characters, even though paradoxically, I don't often read stories that are like this. Probably because the danger of Mary-Sue with OCs is so high.
I detest Marauders, and so I generally avoid that era; I genuinely like Next Generation, on the other hand.
Apart from Memento Mori, my favourite stories would be those by AriadneAWS and Loten. Yep, SSHG reader to the core, if not writer. From the mentor Snape bucket, The Best Revenge is a clear favourite.
As per the release of the last StarTrek film, Into Darkness, I am also officially obsessed with Spock/Uhura. It's the new SSHG. Really, it has everything: an emotionally distant man (well, Vulcan) who has issues with his father, a student-teacher relationship (see the note bellow), mind reading...In this area I especially recommend The Logical Choice by writerfan2013.
2014 brought me a new obsession: BBC's Sherlock. Yeah, if it has an emotionally distant man, bring it on. My favourite character there is Mycroft, closely followed by Irene Adler. Stories about both of them are being worked on at the moment, long ones as well as a number of one-shots. Because I obviously have so much free time, with my thesis and everything.
There are also things I dislike in fanfiction. It's some pairings, like Snarry (considering Severus' romantic connection to Lily, it feels a bit too much like incest), Spirk (it just seems like an insult to their friendship, like somehow assuming it couldn't be deep enough without some sex involved), Johnlock (the same reason) and Mystrade (seriously, WTH?). I really don't like slash in general much, because usually it just seems like raping canon. The one exception I've discovered so far (apart from Dumbledore/Grindewald, obviously) is Sirius/Remus. I don't write it because it didn't occur to me and now it's too late to incorporate it into my HP universe, but I just think it fits so well with everything we know, or don't know (no women ever mentioned, until Tonks - Remus is obviously bi), I'm sorry I didn't think of it. So, cheers to Sirius/Remus, but boo to any forced slash pairings.
See you around!
(Note: The obsession with student/teacher relationships is apparently not my fault. My grandmother married her high school teacher. It's in my blood.)
Currently working on a number of Sherlock stories, mostly Mycroft-centric.
Finding Balance is currently on sort-of hiatus. I have an idea for another sequel after that, and then for a couple of TOS stories with Spock. And perhaps for one Voyager story. And a one-shot with Spock and Sarek. And an Amanda/Sarek story...
Harry Potter stories seem to be on the sidelines for the moment. The main reason probably is that the core story of what I see as my main universe, Born to Fight, sorely needs a rewrite (it was my first long story), but it's 100 chapters long, so I somewhat lack the motivation. All the other stories from that universe tie up to that one, however, so there's no point in posting them before BtF. The original version, in all its dreadfulness, is at HPFF. Apart from that, I have an idea for a Founders' Era, a crossover, a couple of SSHGs and some other things. In other words, I certainly don't lack ideas. Not sure when I'll get around to turning them into reality, but at the very least, I'm planning on continuing my Severus and Hermione birthday series.
I'm slowly starting to post over at AO3 too, and if I ever get around to writing anything really explicit (I've been meaning to for ages, but when I get to the scene in question, my courage deserts me), it'll probably be only posted there.
