![]() Author has written 18 stories for Harry Potter, Star Trek: 2009, Sherlock, Silmarillion, and Night Watch. Look, I have tumblr! barbarakaterina. tumblr. com/ My WIP: Family Ties updates twice a month, so roughly around the 30th/1st and around 14th/15th. Bio: I'm a 32 years old grad student (thesis topic: religion of pre-Islamic Arabia) and a private English teacher (so if you discover any language mistakes, don't tell my students). I grew up with Harry Potter, literally: I was 11 when I started the first book and 18 when I finished the last one. I have a soft spot for all Black sisters, Andromeda being the least favourite and Bellatrix my fav. Narcissa comes a close second, though, after reading Memento Mori by coffeecupcakegirl (a great story, if you haven't read it yet, off with you). As far as male characters go, I like some fic versions of Severus, then Bill and Fleur Weasley, Kingsley Shacklebolt and Mad-Eye Moody, I guess (again in some versions). I have a fondness for SSHGs (I might even publish one some day, I already started writing), and I generally prefer post-Hogwarts and post-War fics, since I prefer adult characters; why I decided that Harry Potter is going to be my favourite series is anybody's guess, really. I detest the Marauders, and so I generally avoid that era; I genuinely like Next Generation, on the other hand. As for other dislikes, I can't do Snarry. Apart from Memento Mori, my favourite HP stories would be those by AriadneAWS and Loten (yep, SSHG reader to the core), and The Best Revenge by Arsinoe de Blassenville. As per the release of the last StarTrek: Into Darkness, I was also officially obsessed with Spock/Uhura. It's the new SSHG. Really, it has everything: an emotionally distant man (well, Vulcan) who has issues with his father, a student-teacher relationship, mind reading...In this area I especially recommend The Logical Choice by writerfan2013. In this fandom, I avoid Spirk, which probably makes me something of a black sheep. I think it's because I was introduced to the fandom through the new films. 2014 brought me a new obsession: BBC's Sherlock. Yeah, if it has an emotionally distant man, bring it on. My favourite character there is Mycroft, closely followed by Irene Adler. I tend to avoid Johnlonck, once again, probably because I really got into the fandom only after season 3 was out, and I really like Mary. The Hobbit films made me want to get into the universe again, and so after years of being a huge Tolkien nerd, I've started writing and reading fanfiction as well. Tolkien is the chief slash fandom for me - probably because I'm a mean person and knowing Tolkien was a conservative Catholic, I just like messing with him in this way. At any rate, Russingon and Ecthelion/Glorfindel give me life. As does Glorfindel/Erestor. 2017 update: I caught the Dragon Age bug, and am now living in Solavellan fanfic hell. 2021 update: Untamed. I even started learning Chinese, so... More generally, I like to write drama and read drama, because I'm a terrible person who likes torturing characters. I'm also a sucker for Enemies to Friends to Lovers, or just Enemies to Lovers, or just Enemies to Friends...well. You catch my drift. Also, seemingly unrequited pining that gets resolved ftw. I dislike blatant OOC (unless there's a good reason for it) and, most of all, casual AU*. So please, please, if you find anything contrary to canon in one of my stories that isn't explained in an AN (which I always do when I knowingly deviate from canon), let me know! I'm a canon freak, I can't just let it be! :)) See you around! (* By that, I mean when things are noncanonical because the author never bothered to check the relevant Wiki entries, not because they made a conscious choice for a reason.) My stories: On this website, I'm currently working on one AU HP novel-length. On AO3, I'm in the middle of posting a long MCU FrostIron story, and an ASOIAF AU saga. I'm there as BarbaraKaterina as well, if you want to check it out. |
