Note about the poll: Rin seems the definite choice, I probably won't start writing the Free! fic until the second season has finished airing.
About me: 23 years-old, engaged, and currently attending Uni. Majoring in Linguistics, minoring in Japanese.
I like writing OC stories. There is just something about being able to inject a new character into a series that is just very exciting for me. I love designing that character to be flawed and as multi-faceted as possible, to give them room for growth and development through the course of the story. I want to write characters that represent real people. That's always a work in progress, and I'm always trying to improve on that front.
I dislike the term Mary Sue. It is a literary criticism that is recurrently thrown at female characters that people dislike (you don't see male characters taking this criticism in the same proportion), and it is so vaguely defined that is completely unhelpful to any writer. Perhaps the intention is to say, "This character is poorly developed," but why not say that instead? I contend Mary Sue is disproportionately used far more against female characters and young female writers who honestly just want to have fun with their story. And if you want to help them improve because you see a spark of amazing creativity and potential in them, the least helpful thing you can do is say, "Your character is a Mary Sue."
about why people (focus on young girls) write "Mary Sue" characters.
UPDATES DELAYED - My computer recently died, and while I have a new one, I don't know when I'll be able to recover the Tangled chapter I had finished on my old hard drive. So until then, Tangled updates are delayed. My Little Firefly will resume shortly and An Overcast Skyline should be posting soon.
An Overcast Skyline - Haikyuu - Tsukishima x OC
"If there's one thing she's certain about, it's that this failing grade in math is entirely the fault of the extraordinarily tall volleyball player sitting in front of her, and it's about time he take responsibility for it."
Any stories not listed below are updated on an inconsistent basis.
My Little Firefly will update every other week.
Tangled 22 - already written, delayed until some time in December possibly January unfortunately.
