Hello! My name is Karien. If I where to be born a boy I would have been called Karoolis, which became a family nickname... that is why I chose it for my penname. I live in South Africa and I am fifteen year's old. English is not my first language, though I am fluent in it, and was brought up Afrikaans. I suck at spelling so please excuse that and any other gramatical or punctuation mistakes I make.

I started reading fanfiction when I was 12, but only joined when I was fourteen after I was encouraged by a very good friend. Firstly I read Sea Patrol, then Twilight and finally Harry Potter.

I am an avid reader and enjoy all types of books. I also love music, I play two instruments myself. I listen to all types of music, from classical to jazz to metal.

My favourite subject is History. I do a lot of extra-reading and watch a lot of documentations. I do Latin as a school subject and when I am in University I want to learn Ancient Greek, Spanish and Manderin. Maybe even Russian or Hebrew if I have time...

Anyway, if I was at Hogwarts I would be in the Ravenclaw house and would not play Quidditch, but be an avid fan. My favourite subject would be History of Magic, Arithmancy and Defence Against the Dark Arts.

I have never written a 'flame' in my life, though I have read some horrible stories. I always opt to just stop reading and go out, as it is much more civil. I have received unconstructed flames myself which I just ignore because quite frankly I do not care what you have to say if all you do is critize me in a rude tone. If you tell me of a mistake in a nice way, I will fix it with pleasure and be very grateful for your review.
