Author has written 11 stories for Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Lord of the Rings, How to Train Your Dragon, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Well hullo there curious reader. I'm Syrlai and this is my profile. A little bit about me? I'm currently in my third year of collage, taking up a four-year course on Hotel and Restaurant Management. I'm a girl and I have tons of fandoms that I just can't seem to hold - like seriously lol. Want a list of it? I have it categorized and everything ha!
Let's start with what got me to writing in the first place. My favorite shounen anime,
Katekyo Hitman Reborn - now I've written for quite a lot for this one. There's just something charming about KHR and the way it develops its characters. I'm a sucker for character development so to see a character like Tsuna, grow into this bipolar bishie, gave me this great intense feeling that could only come from reading novels. It was just so good. Despite its many flaws, KHR has heart and I really do admire that. Plus it's very original, from its powers to villains, I'll always be a fan over this.
Fairy Tail - is in my top 5 favorite animes but the only reason I like it is for its characters. Something about FT and its characters aren't really that deep but its the freedom of imagination that just get's me going to stick with this anime. It has a lot of characters and despite the fanservice, you have gotta enjoy the ships. I'm a big shipper of Nalu and Gruvia - they're just so adorable. Hiro Mashima may be a troll but he's a great shipper. Now I haven't written a story for this yet although I did use to plan a crossover between KHR and FT.
FT got op-ish. Seriously, Fairy Tail is good at its best but the whole 'Nakama-power' is bullshit when its played over and over. KHR had it's moments of absurdity but when it comes down back into the battle system, the foundation is solid. There are pros and cons and sometimes, when force doesn't work, you have to use your head and be creative. I love writing KHR fight scenes because there is so much you can do with Flames and box weapons. Even if I came up with an amazing story line, FT would just keep on becoming super saiyans. Seriously, Erza's fight with the demons of Zeref had bullshit x 1000 to highest power.
CAN THOU SEE WHERE THY IS GOING?
I'm glad I didn't write the crossover. I'm not afraid of doing it because FT is more powerful or something - its because I'm afraid that fandoms would clash. Though being a bit baised, KHR would still win. What you can't match against KHR is that some of the characters are seriously dark - something that the anime sadly censored. If it continued to Tsuna's growth to seriously be the boss, things would have gotten darker, I'm so sure of that. Some of them would play really dirty. Oh FT can do it too? Probably, but in the long run, KHR would win with tactics. They don't rely on nakama power to be strong all the time after all.
My favorite book though is...
Harry Potter - nobody will ever see me write a story about this. I love it too much to change anything. Besides, I'm happy with the way it is.
To what I have actually written to before, one of my favorite book series is Percy Jackson.
Its a crossover between PJO and LORT (Lord of the Rings). I won't say much about it, only that you people should try to read it and see it for itself.
Favorite Animated Film?
How To Train Your Dragon - that's right, I'm into that. I've mentioned this before but it's more than just character development. It's progress that compels me to write. Hiccup was the not-viking, the weakest in terms of physical strength but he was a brilliant young man. So to have him mature slowly into a chief has always been my dream for him. When I saw the 2nd movie, I don't think I'll ever be able to pull out a story for have him put into chiefdom. It's canon and I've never been one to disregard canon. If I'll ever write about HTTYD, it would be from his years that were skipped.
Well, those are the fandoms that I've been writing for. But let me just dive in deeper to the rest of my fandoms now shall we?
Avengers MCU - because, character dynamics oh, and the amount of sass brought in by Iron Man. Its not a secret that I love Tony Stark more than any other Avenger. Tell me what you want, he's a goddamn douchebag in the comic books during Civil War Arc - I'm not gonna deny that - but he's a brilliant character. He's human and has many flaws and that's what I like. A flawless character, is a boring character. So what if he's a douchebag or an asshole? He's been a dick since the first movie and people still like him. I still love him, regardless of his mistakes. Plus he'd make into an awesome villain like Loke.
Surprisingly enough, his canon genderbend self, Natasha "Toni" Stark is married to Steve Rogers AKA Captain America. I've never been a yaoi shipper, so to find out that this ship was canon in genderbend form delighted me because I really so ship girl!Tony and Steve. Oh my gods, the friction between these two... *sweats bullets*
I also have another ship in the Avenger's that I love which is the ScienceBros. It's glorious in every way possibly omfg! Bruce and Tony are just awesome together. They bounce science off of each other like sound and so the music is just amazing to behold. Pepperony? - its adorable. Having Pepper keep Tony's ego in check is very, very cute.
Harvest Moon - the phenomenon of a game that is totally addicting. Farming simulator and farmville my ass, those lousy ripoffs. HM more than just farming. It's getting to know characters, build relations to them, farming, earning money, how to spend your money on stuff, cooking, winning contests, falling in love, getting married and having kids. Seriously, it's like an otome game except more realistic. My main ship is Claire x Gray because he's... ADORKABLE. I'm obsessed with Chase too (he's a fucking chef. How could I not have a man like that?!)
Adventure Time - I'm not even going to bother to explain this. What I will say though is that I ship Finnceline and Fiolee. Why the vampire? It's not because of Twilight (
Merlin - is a tv drama series produced by BBC that tells the reimagining of the Arthurian Legend. It's a wonderful show that has lots of actions, comedy, heart and bromance. Lord I cannot get over this show. The dynamics of Arthur and Merlin is just so purely deep that its something that Asian or Japanese animation could ever pull off. Why does love ever end in romance? What about the love you share with family and friends? Something that strong? Every time I see something like that in anime, when they try to, it looks so forced it makes me cringe. Don't even get me started on shoujo and harems - I know there are good ones out there, despite the cliches - everything is damn overused I might as well go read hentai. Way more simpler. But back to this series, Merlin has characters that I would relate too and the MC Merlin? He's the sweetest man ever with the most adorable ears and beautiful eyes. The choices he makes are like a double-edged sword so the foreshadowing is really well done.
This is the root of my desire to give a deeper meaning between characters that is not just romantic love and because I'm a girl, brotherly love always fascinated me. Friendship between men have always been admirable to me because there's just something about exchanging jokes and grinning with each other like boys that makes me swoon.
