Author has written 13 stories for Dragon Age.
Hi, I'm Epi, and I am a BioWare addict.
I am a high school English teacher. (Yes, this means I'm under more pressure than most to get the grammar right.) I am also the mother of a wonderfully funny little boy and a wife to a patient husband who is encouraging me to write again. (It has been a REALLY long time.) In my free time (if I ever get any) I dabble in poetry, read and play video games.
It has been a long time since I have been inspired to write anything creative and been dedicated enough to see it through to the end. The stories that BioWare create feel so rich to me. The poetry, history and the folklore are so pivotal to that feeling of richness, I felt challenged and wanted to capture that in my own writing. (Not to mention, the characters they created tugged at my heart. In my first play through of Dragon Age Origins, Alistair dumped my elven character after the Landsmeet and I was so stunned and upset I couldn't play again for two days. I wrote some emo poetry, which I hadn't done since I was a teenager. Thus the seeds for my first Dragon Age story were planted.)
I have now immersed myself in fanfiction writing and I'm not entirely sure I can stop. When I am not writing, I am brainstorming and imagining what I want to do next. I am currently flumoxed with my big story. It was only supposed to be twenty chapters and then it exploded. This story writing process is starting to resemble a sheet of directions generated by an early version of Mapquest: I had the start point and the destination clear, its just the route to get there turned out to be nothing like I planned on paper. Maker help me!
This is going to be an interesting endeavor.
I am now a member of a fun forum called the Cheeky Monkeys of Dragon Age:
It is a good community and freqented by many of the excellent authors from this fanfiction site. It is a good place to vent, hash over writing/gaming difficulties and receive constructive feedback.
I have completed one feature length story:
Kadan: Warden Cousland has been set-aside by the future king of Ferelden and has to prepare for the final battle with the Archdemon. Sten is confronted by feelings that are very un-Qunari-like. Look what happens when the one least likely to fall in love confesses his feelings and changes the entire course of events in Ferelden. (This is rated M for sweet lovin'.)
I have two ongoing stories:
The Balance of Wings: This story takes place one year after the Blight in Dragon Age: Origins. The main character is Alistair, who became king of Ferelden, but the love of his life sacrificed herself to end the Blight. He is adjusting to his responsibilities and his losses but it is a difficult road. When an opportunity occurs for a diplomatic trip to the Cauldron in the Frostback Mountains he jumps at the chance for a break from the palace. The trip ends up being anything but simple. (It is rated M for implied physical abuse and violence in later chapters.)
We have been working on this story for over two years now and the end is in sight...I hope.
I am also posting artwork relating to this story on Deviantart. Go to: epiphanyandromeda.deviantart.com and check under my gallery.
You Know You're In Trouble When...: After being released by the Seeker, Varric is worried about the direction of events in Thedas. However, what can a dwarven story teller and crossbow master do about it? Perhaps it is time for the storyteller to pursue his own story? Set after the end of Dragon Age 2 . (It is rated M for the potential of what will happen later.)
This story was begun as a gift for millelibri on the Cheeky Monkeys of Dragon Age writer's board and fan site. It has since taken on a life of its own and I will be trying to add to it regularly as I struggle to finish my other big ongoing story.
Please review if you get a chance and have constructive feedback to share.
