The Reviewer Revolution
I, SC-Jupe, do solemnly swear to review every story I read, both enjoyable and atrocious. I will give credit where it is dues and will never leave a review that reads like “gr8 job! i luv this so much so plz update asap!11”. I recognize my right of freedom of speech, and I acknowledge that I am entitled to my honest opinion – not that of the majority of your readers. I also promise to enforce the rules of this site and will not hold back on reminding you that by posting your work on this site for everyone to see, I am allowed to review how I see fit and if you do not like it, you can either leave the site or limit the viewing of your work to only your friends and family.
My critiquing style:
My critiquing style now is different from the one that I began with. I feel that the style that I’ve adopted is very thorough and easy for most to understand. First, I’ll mention specific sentences/phrases, usually to point out grammatical errors and how to fix them, but sometimes to praise especially good writing. I’ll then summarize how well your grammar and spelling are, and mention the error that you make most frequently. Next, I’ll describe how your characters come across to the reader, whether I’m able to sympathize with them, whether they are OOC, if they have any Mary-Sue traits, etc. After that I’ll describe how well you describe setting, and use it as a literary tool. (My own writing needs the most work in this area.) I’ll also describe how the plot is progressing, and whether I notice any holes. Lastly, I’ll summarize with how good the story is in general and its major strengths and weaknesses. I critique this way usually only when requested; rarely will I do this on any random story, mainly because it takes so long.
My reviewing style:
I go over the four topics (grammar, characters, setting, plot) briefly. I’ll basically say which areas need improvement, and areas in which your writing excels. Occasionally I will cite specific examples in the story for clarification. I review this way most often.
If your story is in violation of one of the site’s rules, my review will be short and to the point. I’ll tell you which rule you broke and how to fix it. If I think that the story is salvageable, I’ll also give some concrit.
Allaying Ennui – Joker/Clover/Heart no Kuni no Alice This is going to be a multi-chapter fic that centers around Vivaldi and Alice. I've tried to look at Vivaldi in a sympathetic way, and show her sensitive side that isn't often displayed in the manga.
Salvation and Despair - Naruto My first fanfic. This is a romance/tragedy fic about Itachi and his lover Kana, my OC. If you're wondering, she is not a Mary-Sue, and scored a 16 on the
