So don't expect frequent updates from me. Don't get me wrong, I am trying to write, but when you work between 50 to 70 hours per week, going who-knows-where at any hour of the day, it tends to get in the way of getting anything done. As of now, I am planning on having three or four 'chapters' ahead of what I post here. That should give me some breathing room in between updates. Such is theory anyway. 4-5-12 Officially published here on . Even if it is a one-shot chapter in someone else's story. It does feel nice. Still cannot help but think that I could have done a better job with that chapter, but I wrote just over half of it at a frenzy that I usually don't have. If I could harness that energy Long Dash Negima would not take so long to write, and my shorter projects would be done. But thanks to Overlord Mao, I now have Chapter 15 in his story Night of Terror written. I think I did pretty good. Go read it and judge for yourself. 9-5-12 Recovering from GenCon writing seminars. I have been inactive since GenCon and I apologize for that. I need to get back into writing again and plan on doing that soon. Still working on the main problem of getting the ideas in my head out onto paper or computer file. Everything listed in the Works Planned is in progress. I might bounce around between all of them more than I really should, but I am trying to work. 10-19-12 Recovering from sciatica. Developed that particular condition out in Colorado, about 600 miles from home, just over a month ago now. Spent a week out there trying to regain the ability to move again, then had a friend come get me and bring me back home so I could finish recovering. Let me tell you something: Sciatica Scucks. The pain felt as if someone tried to beat on my right hip with an axe, then after I was knocked down, they beat on my right leg for good measure. I spent two and a half weeks recovering, and my leg and hip still bother me from time to time. Very annoying when you have to walk at times to conduct business. BUT, I am back and slowly writing again. 3-30-13 I suppose you're wondering what sort of drugs I'm on to write a self-insert fanfic. Yes, that's right. I've been inspired to write Raising Negi: The Formative Years. Why you ask? Two reasons. The first is obvious. There are a bunch of us on that hang out and chat about Negima. Long story short, it was an idea that a member of Ala Iridia had, and I volunteered to write it. The full story of that is at the end of Chapter 3. The second is... more embarrassing to admit. In my opinion, every writer needs to write a self-insert fic at least one time. Just to get it out of their system, if nothing else. Noone has ever written a story and not imagined themselves as the hero or the main character. Most sensible people usually keep those self-insert fics locked away or burn them so they never see the light of day though. But I am setting this one loose. I figure everyone will either hate it or love it. No one is going to read it and think, 'Meh. It's ok, but could be better.' Progress is going to be slow on this. Mainly because I am doing a good portion of the work myself. That means I have to write around my job as time dictates. Read and review please. I am like most everyone else here. I live on reviews. 1-1-14 New Year resolutions 1. Lose weight. (duh) 2. Finish The Meeting. It has languished long enough. 3. Work on Chigusa's New Minions. It has been sitting idle for too long as well. 4. Start two of the four projects bouncing around in my head. 5. A chapter a month. Minimum. Does not matter for what. Just a chapter a month. 1-1-15 New Year Resolutions 1. Lose weight. Because that failed fantastically last year. 2. Finish The Meeting. It REALLY has languished long enough. 3. Keep working on Chigusa's New Minions. I got one chapter finished last year, I can surely do more this year. 4. Start two of the umpteen eleventy projects bouncing around in my head. 5. Fifteen hundred words a month. Minimum. Which means a real chapter, or two RARRs. Which means I might have to really work at writing. Three successes and two fails for last year's resolutions. Let's see if I can't do better this year. For the record, I AM WORKING on updating Joker in the Deck. Really I am. I am needing to do research for it though as I do not know that story as well as I know Negima. Bear with me, as I do not want to give my readers a sucky story. 5-1-15 Success, yet a fail. I have managed 1500 words in the past month. The problem is that I do not have a complete chapter to publish for this month. I am still hammering away at writing, but it is a struggle. Joker in the Deck especially. I have been working on it, but it is a challenge. I have scenes planned out for Negi training Rias's peerage before the Riser fight, as well as how the Riser fight will play out. I am stuck in setting up certain plot points and relationships that I want to happen before those scenes happen. I drive from Southwest Missouri to Texas a LOT. I drive through Oklahoma to do so. To compare my writing troubles to my work, it is as if I have no map of Oklahoma to help me get between Missouri and Texas. To say this is annoying would be an understatement. I need to just sit down when I have a large amount of free time and try to work out the details. Hopefully that will happen soon. 5-31-15 Did not happen as soon as hoped. Work has been quite determined in making me actually work. Yet another successful fail in that I have managed 4000 words. 3000 of which were for a story idea that I bounced off Ala Iridia. The other 1000 is divided between Joker in the Deck and Stultus Pulchram. Still working on writing more though. 10-1-15 New story started. I wanted to have MUCH more written, but as always, Real Life takes precedence. Still working on all my other projects, in addition to being a Beta for Wrathie Winsre's A Flower Amongst Devils. I'd recommend it, but then as I am helping Beta it, I might be a little biased in my opinion. 1-2-16 Resolutions for the New Year, made yesterday but posting today. 1. Lose MORE weight. I have my DOT physical at the end of the month. I would like to not need the sleep test. 2. Finish The Meeting. It REALLY has languished long enough. REALLY! 3. Keep working on Chigusa's New Minions, Joker in the Deck, Raising Negi, Stultus Pulchram and Monster Girl Invasion. 4. Start two of the umpteen eleventy projects bouncing around in my head. 5. Eighteen thousand words for this year. Which averages to fifteen hundred words a month. 67,298 words currently published here. The latest chapters of everything I am working on is starting to become wordy. Two successes for last year's resolutions. Man, I suck. 1-1-17 Resolutions 1. Keep trying to lose weight. Just because I managed to lose some weight does not mean I lost enough. 2. Keep working on Chigusa's New Minions, Joker in the Deck, Raising Negi, Stultus Pulchram, and Monster Girl Invasion. 3. Eighteen thousands words for this year. 72,827 words currently published here. Which blows even if you account for all the words published on Questionable Questing. 4. Keep working on Kitten Cannon over on Questionable Questing. 5. Work on my Beta speed. I swear, I am SLOW. Really need to fix that. 1-1-18 Resolutions 1. Accomplish SOMETHING for pity's sakes! [sigh] I have spent the past year dealing with Real Life smacking me around as if I was a red-headed stepchild. Between my Health, my Money, and my normal fun, I have been too busy dealing with issues to really work on Writing. That needs to change. If I can just keep my focus long enough to get something written, I might make it through the year. We shall see. Works Planned (but might never get to) ROMP: Rip-Off of a Movie Plot: ROMPs are just that: Fun little romps in which I take a movie and plug in anime/manga elements. Not exactly as random as a RARR, but still planned on being silly for the most part. RARR: Random Acts of Random Randomness: RARR is what I am going to put in front of what I call my 'snippets.' This is the short stuff I type up on TVTropes, now to be published here. Complete stories in themselves, but they are very short. Less than a thousand words. Crack pairings, short stories, and whatever enters my mind that I can type up. Start looking for the first of these soon. Variations on a Theme: If Who Was a Vampire?: Already working on two chapters of this. I have three more bouncing around in my head. Of course, we all know the hardest part of writing is taking those wonderful ideas out of your head and putting them onto paper. Taken from OverMaster's shorts of the same name, with his permission. Variations on a Theme: Location, Location, Location: Keep all of the characters from Negima, but move them to a different location. I have one idea in mind for this, and will work on it slowly. I suppose if the short got enough reviews, it might be worth turning into a full story. Long Dash Negima: Crossovers galore. Enough said. This will be a HUGE project. This is also my first priority project. If I am slow on working on other things, then it is safe to assume that I am working on this massive project. I don't intend to start putting it up here on FFnet until I have several chapters written for it. Planned for Sometime before the Sun goes nova, because of the madness that is Raising Negi. That SHOULD give me time. Considering that the scope of this project is equal to 'Unequally Rational and Emotional' by OverMaster, you can easily see why I am going to work on this slowly. Mushroom Madness: Pani Poni Dash story. What if the alien ship didn't completely destroy the mushroom? Takes place after Episode 20. Call it Episode 20.5. Chigusa's New Minions: This got started as a result of a discussion with someone else about another story they are planning to write. Work should progress on this as I do have the broad ideas in my head, but we will see how fast I update. Apocrita Parasitica Megalyridae: Negima Squick. Been sitting on this for well over a year. I figured it was time to get this out in the open. |
