RIP Katherine Petrova. Fuck you, Francis and Mary, for doing what you have to Bash.
Alec was emerging in a cloud of steam. He had a towel around his waist and another around his shoulders and was rubbing energetically at his wet black hair. Isabelle supposed she shouldn't be surprised to see him; he'd been trained to wake up early in the morning just like she had.
"You smell like sandalwood," she said by way of greeting. She hated the smell of sandalwood. She liked sweet scents -- vanilla, cinnamon, gardenia.
Alec looked at her. "We like sandalwood."
Isabelle made a face. "Either that's the royal "we" or you and Magnus are turning into one of those couples that think they're one person. 'We like sandalwood.' 'We adore the symphony.' 'We hope you enjoy our Christmas present--' which, if you ask me, is just a cheap way of avoiding having to buy two gifts."
Alec blinked wet lashes at her. "You'll understand --"
"f you tell me I'll understand when I'm in love, I'll smother you with that towel."

"You speak of sacrifice, but it is not my sacrifice I offer. It is yours I ask of you. I can offer you my life, but it is a short life; I can offer you my heart, though I have no idea how many more beats it shall sustain. But I love you enough to hope that you will not care that I am being selfish in trying to make the rest of my life -- whatever it's length -- happy, by spending it with you. I want to be married to you, Tessa. I want it more than I have ever wanted anything else in my life." He looked up at her through the veil of silvery hair that fell over his eyes. "That is," he said shyly. "If you love me too."

"Father..." Gabriel began. "Father is a worm."
Will gave a short laugh. He was in gear as if he just come from the practice room, and his hair curled damply against his temples. He was not looking at Tessa, but she had grown used to that. Will hardly ever looked at her unless he had to. "It's good to see that you've come round to our view of things, Gabriel, but this is an unusual way of announcing it."
Gideon shot Will a reproachful look before turning back to his brother. "What do you mean, Gabriel? What did Father do?"
Gabriel shook his head. "He's a worm," he said again, tonelessly.
"I know. He has brought shame on the name of Lightwood, and lied to both of us. He shamed and destroyed our mother. But we need not be like him."
Gabriel pulled away from his brother's grip, his teeth suddenly flashing in an angry scowl. "You're not listening to me," he said. "He's a worm. A worm. A bloody great serpentlike thing."

Softly, Magnus said, "Aku cinta kamu."
"What does that mean?"
Magnus disentangled himself from Alec's grip. "It means I love you. Not that that changes anything."
"But if you love me --"
"Of course I do. More than I thought I would. But we're still done," Magnus said. "It doesn't change what you did."
"But it was just a mistake," Alec whispered. "One mistake--"
Magnus laughed sharply. "One mistake? That's like calling the maiden voyage of the Titantic a minor boating accident. Alec, you tried to shorten my life."
"It was just -- she offered -- but I thought about it and I couldn't go through with it-- I couldn't do that to you."
"But you had to think about it. And you never mentioned it to me." Magnus shook his head. "You didn't trust me. You never have."

"Yeah," Jace said, "but you're a vampire. Blood isn't like food for you. Blood is... blood."
"That's very illuminating." Simon flung himself onto the armchair across from the TV; it had probably once been a pale gold velvet but was now worn to the grayish pile. "Do you have a lot of other profound thoughts like that? Blood is blood? A toaster is a toaster? A Gelatinous Cube is a Gelatinous Cube?"

"Honestly, Jace," he said. "The idea that you thought you could get away with something like this just knocks me out."
Jace's hand tightened into fists as the iratze, black as charcoal, began to sink into his skin. His words were eked out, breathless. "Next time..you want to be knocked out...I'd be happy to help you. Maybe with a brick."
Sebastian made a tsk noise. "You'll thank me later. Even you have to admit this death wish of yours is a little extreme."
Clary expected Jace to snap back at him again. But he didn't. His gaze traveled slowly across Sebastian's face. For that moment there was only the two of them in the room, and when Jace spoke, his words came cold and clear. "I won't remember this later," he said, "But you will. That person who acts like your friend -- " He took a step forward, closing the space between himself and Sebastian. "That person who acts like they like you. That person isn't real. This is real. This is me. And I hate you. I will always hate you. And there is no magic and no spell in this world or any other that will ever change that."

“My name is Hazel. Augustus Waters was the great star-crossed love of my life. Ours was an epic love story, and I won’t be able to get more than a sentence into it without disappearing into a puddle of tears. Gus knew. Gus knows. I will not tell you our love story, because—like all real love stories—it will die with us, as it should. I’d hoped that he’d be eulogizing me, because there’s no one I’d rather have . . . Okay, how not to cry. How am I—okay. Okay. I can’t talk about our love story, so I will talk about math. I am not a mathematician, but I know this: There are infinite numbers between 0 and 1. There’s .1 and .12 and .112 and an infinite collection of others. Of course, there is a bigger infinite set of numbers between 0 and 2, or between 0 and a million. Some infinities are bigger than other infinities. A writer we used to like taught us that. There are days, many of them, when I resent the size of my unbounded set. I want more numbers than I’m likely to get, and God, I want more numbers for Augustus Waters than he got. But, Gus, my love, I cannot tell you how thankful I am for our little infinity. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. You gave me a forever within the numbered days, and I’m grateful.”
