I am of the firm belief that in order to be a proper fanfic geek you need to have a particular brand of humor. One that can be properly expressed through the written word, complete with sarcasm and inside jokes that never really do make sense. If that goal sometimes requires that you have to make up words...well then who am I to stop you. Honestly, I'll probably start using them myself because I end up falling in lurve with them.
Example: "Lurve" - a special brand of love that oozes a residue that has been linked to Squee and over enthusiastic geekness. I blame Rebel Paisley for that particular words' genesis.
You'll have to excuse my apparent lack of tact - I am a sailor by occupation, and sometimes it shows. So I apologize in advance if anything I may happen to say/write comes across as disrespectful. It is not my intention - I just have a low B.S. tolerance, and a strict no drama policy.
That being said. I'm super duper enthusiastic about fanfic. It's so much fun to read and talk about. I have a difficult time writing it, but I try. As a clarification, the conduit between my brain and the keyboard doesn't function well enough to actually get a story out in any kind of timely fashion. Most of my work could probably be considered as "drabbles". Since I like to think of myself as a somewhat benevolent creature I tend to keep such monstrosities from the public eye. There is no sense in providing only a tease.
On the other hand, I will beta and review and gladly act as a phone-a-muse for my fellow writer friends.
I tend to lurk in a few different fandoms.
I am a huge Power Ranger nerd. My geek flag flies high within this particular fandom. I prowl through Dark Angel, Mutant X, Supernatural, and a little to a lot of Star Trek here and there. Firefly/Serenity are also treasured fandoms.
