Author has written 4 stories for Warcraft, and Star Wars.
Thanks for taking the time to read my profile. I hope this means something I've said sparked your interest.
I have been an avid reader since kindergarten, but only got into online video games and anime after my husband introduced them to me in 2004/5. Since then, though, I have actively pursued both hobbies as well as continuing my interest in books. Favorites include Terry Brooks' "Shannara" series, R.A. Salvatore's "Forgotten Realms" series, Robert Aspirin's "Myth Inc" series (God rest him), David Eddings' "Belgariad" and "Mallorean" quintets, and Orson Scott Card's "Ender" series. It should come as no surprise to anyone who has read those novels that the majority of my World of Warcraft characters were magic users (my avatar is a mage), and my SWtoR characters are generally support rather than tanks or straight DPS. Given the nature of my two SWTOR stories, you've probably guessed my main is a smuggler. You'd be right.
Anime is a relatively recent addition to my list of pastimes, but so far I have managed to follow Naruto up through Gaara's rescue, the entirety of Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha (Takahashi-sama is a frickin' genius! Curse Viz for stopping her short on both projects), season 1 of Angelic Layer (did they ever continue that series?), Martian Successor Nadesico, and several others which have not demanded my attention quite as fully. As much as I enjoy reading, the mangas for these shows (the ones which are available, anyway) don't seem as entertaining. However, I have read a number of fanfics with my husband, over his shoulder (see shameless plug below), and lately on my own. For some reason, they are almost always more fun to read than the manga - kudos to you writers! Between that and the desire to post my own story (Mourning Glory), I finally decided to create my own account.
I would like to point out "Mourning Glory" is not the first story I've ever written, but it IS the first one I've managed to see through to completion. More recently, I have finally finished a couple fics based on the SWtoR universe - a pre-canon fic following Imara Mathon from a pleasant home on Balmorra, through her experiences as an Imperial slave, and into her life as a smuggler; and a followup which was originally intended to be a oneshot, but evolved into its own story. If you haven't already, read them through and let me know what you think.
Shameless plug - Thanks to FrictionX42 (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2200974/) for introducing me to anime, video games, and fanfiction.net. Most of his fics so far are based on Ranma 1/2. More often than not, they include a large amount of waffles ("'Warm And Fuzzy Feelings' Literature in Each Story".) If you like my work, feel free to send him a pm as well.
Shameless plug #2 - Some of the parts of "Infiltration" are a collaborative effort with writer BuriedBeneath (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2764547/). She's a frickin awesome writer, and when she mentioned her smuggler in "Questionable Cargo" and Imara could very easily be good friends, I jumped on the idea. Later chapters of "Infiltration" heavily reference QC, so go check that out. It's well worth the read.
Footnote: My beta profile is screwy because the site refuses to save it properly. It keeps adding line breaks and deleting chunks of what I've typed. Please don't hold that against me. If you want an accurate picture of my writing skills, go read my stories.
Updates, 11 Feb, 2013: It's worth repeating how much I love getting reviews from you guys. Seriously - sometimes I go back and read through them. Some of them make me laugh, others make me feel all warm and fuzzy. It's almost as good as reading fics! And they definitely give me incentive to keep writing.
On that note, I have a few more fics in the works. I recently had a poll up to see which one I should start with, but each of the three ideas received exactly one vote. *facepalm*
1) "Captain's Log" - Captain Amnon Goodspeed kept a datapad with him and diligently recorded events, including his capture and time on Dromund Kaas. Companion piece to "How I Became a Smu... Businesswoman".
There's also a possibility of another collaborative fic involving Raya Dace (star of "Questionable Cargo") and Imara Goodspeed, early on in their friendship. No promises there.
Update, 18 July, 2013: Sorry about the extended absence. After finishing "Infiltration", I really wanted to see what happened next. My Imperial Agent joined an RP guild whose goal is to reform the Empire. Imara is conflicted whether to continue with her original plan of trying to bring the Empire down entirely, or work with these people she's come to... well, "like" is a bit of a strong word, but not by much... these people who want to eliminate the infighting and other corruption within the Empire's leadership. She's level 55 now, and nearly done with that story arc. Sorry, but that's where all my creative energy and a good chunk of my time has gone. Still love you folks. Good fortunes!
Update, 15 Feb, 2014: Yeah, I really need to log in more often. I promise, I'm coming back around to it. But for now...
IT'S HERE! If you haven't read it already (it's been up since October, ffs!), BB and I finally got around to creating that origins piece for Raya and Imara. Go have a look. It's frickin hilarious!
Update, 16 March, 2014: Just realized I have the perfect theme song for Imara. "Live and Let Die", by Paul McCartney. Give it a listen with Businesswoman and especially Infiltration in mind, and PM me your thoughts.
In other news, I got an actual PAYING job. Motherhood is great and all, but I'm really enjoying the independence I gain having my own income, not to mention getting out of the house more often. Downside is I have very little time for fanfics or even gaming. I really do miss you guys (you know who you are), and promise I'll get back to R/R'ing soon!
Update, 08 Aug, 2014: I did get a chance to R/R a few of the fics from my favorite authors. Thank you SO MUCH for continuing to post these wonderful stories! I only wish my latest contribution to the community were anywhere near as good. "CMB" was a song-inspired one-shot which doesn't do justice to the past couple years of Imara's life, but it's all I have for now.
I've also changed the names of my three SWTOR fics to make them easier to read in order, and to separate them from any potential non-legacy stories.
I'm still working, and very busy overall. Love my job, but I miss you guys!
Edit 23 August, 2014: Apparently a few idiots ruined it for the rest of us, so I have to take down "Catching My Breath" until I have time to edit out the song lyrics. Of course it will still reference (and cite!) the original song, but the powers-that-be say I can't leave it as it is. %blows a raspberry at said idiots and powers% Shame on them for ruining it for honest writers. Maybe I'll go get specific permission from Ms Clarkson...
Edit 28 August, 2014: And it's back up. Still not happy about the required changes, but just look up the real lyrics and substitute them for the write-ins. Enjoy!
Update, 25 Nov, 2014: I hope everyone is enjoying SWTOR's x12 XP as much as I am. Even with that and everything else going on, I always have FFnet floating around in my head, waiting for me to get back to it. To that end, I posted a couple pictures in my DeviantArt account (same name as here), including an amusing find at the grocery store. PM me with your thoughts.
Update, 28 May, 2015: Starting to get caught up on my reading, but all my writing is being siphoned off to another site. Imara has been BUSY! PM me if you want a link to the chronicles of what she and her friends have been up to lately.
Apologies to Corso and Amnon for not getting around to their stories. I promise I haven't forgotten!
Also, the job I had kept falling through on hours, so I got a new one. Now instead of having nearly every other day off (something frequently went wrong on the shop's end), I'm working a steady 5 days/week, with my boss wishing I could come in more often. Busy as hell, but it's work I enjoy. Only real downside is it cutting into my gaming and fanfic time. Miss yall!
