![]() Author has written 21 stories for Tangled, Hunger Games, Avengers, Harry Potter, American President, Brave, 2012, and Cthulhu Mythos. NOTE: I post new content only on Archive of Our Own now. (Link: /users/betagyre) I'm still working on The Idealist and the Maleficar on that website, and there are several stories for the Dragon Age series of video games that are only available on my AO3 page. This is because I prefer the freedom to write whatever I want, even if is Fiction MA, without worrying that it could get taken down. Most of my Dragon Age work is indeed Fiction MA, called Explicit on that site. Dragon Age pairings that I write: Anders/Female Mage Hawke (Red/Aggro personality), pro-mages and Anders-positive; and Leliana/Female Cousland (Rogue, Ranger specialization, Neutral Good) so far. Choosing Grey and Bad Influence (extended/AO3 edition) are available as fancy illustrated PDFs and e-books. If you'd like that (and/or you'd like to see some screenshots), the downloads are available from this link: /post/150325765544/finally-e-books-of-choosing-grey-and-bad TOMIONE STORIES My current project: I am writing a crossover between the Potterverse and the video game Dragon Age II, called The Idealist and the Maleficar. It occurs in the Dragon Age setting and contains many of the characters from that game, but it "stars" Potterverse characters, including our favorite couple. I don't suppose I need to say who is the maleficar. Harry is also in the story, and there juuuuuust might be others who show up later. This story is only going to be posted on Archive of Our Own (link below in this profile) due to the expectation of very explicit sexual content. About Serpentine Moves: Well... if Choosing Grey and A Marked Deck are "Tom Riddle is AU'd to be a hot dark wizard politician and antihero," then this story is "what if the Potterverse was an A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones-type universe in the Norman Conquest era?" I've never written anything approaching the length of this for a true novel, so I hope it went well. There are many canonical characters in this thing, and I attempted to write both a very intricate multi-threaded political plot and a complex relationship for my main pairing as they grow up. Chapters 16 and 18 of this story have been trimmed on ffnet due to (consensual) sexual content involving two 14-year-olds. I did not write it to be creepy, but rather, because the story is set in the Middle Ages. To read the uncut version, head to Archive of Our Own (see below in this profile). About Choosing Grey and A Marked Deck: What can I say? It's a guilty pleasure. The idea is to "redeem the villain," sort of—at least, make him not so utterly wasteful of his life and potential. But it is also to indulge my own dark side—which is to say, my fascination with ruthless amoral political maneuvering, dysfunctionally possessive relationships, and dark magic in fantasyverses. Choosing Grey is intended to have the feel of 1940s noir/suspense/mystery within a magic setting. This story has inspirations from The Godfather (this is probably the biggest one), House of Cards, and 50 Shades of Grey. In other words, lots of shady s*t going down. I say this in the authorial notes for it more than once, but Tom does not give up dark magic or ruthless scheming in this story. There's a reason for the title. A Marked Deck is more episodic, with a lot of one-shot chapters and several multi-chapter but short-lasting plot arcs detailing significant events in Tom and Hermione's careers, relationship, and family life through the late 1940s-early 1960s. Some of the plot arcs are heavy on political wonkishness; some are emotionally intense; some are fluffy. Some are self-contained, but most reference earlier events from chapters in this fic. With the completion of the latest plot arc, I have marked the story as Complete; however, it's distinctly possible I'll write more for it later. I just didn't want an episodic series fic to look like an abandoned novel to prospective new readers. OLDER STORIES About Bad Influence and related fics: This story and its universe(s... since there are now several AU-of-AUs) are special to me, but I'm not expecting to write anything more for this setting. It was already apparent that this universe had started to engulf everything remotely falling into the category of "modern-era story occurring in part in DC"... as evinced in the final chapter of Filibusters, "The House Always Wins." It was best to stop that before it ceased to be Rapunzel and Flynn's story for everything else that was getting sucked into it. I am thrilled that people still read it and that apparently it's become something of a "classic" in Tangled fanfiction. Thank you so much. :) It actually reawakened my own liking of DC political culture—and it also, I think, was the fic that made me a "mature" writer. About my other Tangled fics: Personally, I think that Bad Influence remains the pick of the litter when it comes to my novella- and novel-length Tangled fanfics even though it is not the final one I wrote. (This is why I have not cross-posted anything else for this fandom on AO3.) However, people still read and enjoy them, so they will never come down. The same is true for the one- and two-shots for this fandom; some are, IMO, much better than others (I'd particularly recommend "Everything She Dreamed It Would Be," "The Lighthouse," and "Hues of Red"), but all are remaining. About the American President fics: Sigh... these feel so melancholy and nostalgic now. But this couple remains my happy place for when the, uh, "complications" of my main 'ship are a bit much. I don't know when I may write for this small fandom again; I never wrote anything of length for it because there's really nothing in the canon that I would want to "fix." I'm happy to send them on their HEA in one-shots, and apparently there are others who wanted to read that too... so enjoy! About that Harry Potter-Lovecraft crossover: This (like Choosing Grey) was written well before Fantastic Beasts the movie, but I knew that Wizarding USA was not "really" Lovecraftian. I like the crossover AU, though! This fic is gen, basically just playing in the sandbox of this crossover AU with a fusion of my all-time favorite Lovecraft story and a defining characteristic of Tom Riddle. GENERAL I have a fandom blog () for stuff related to my fics. I post updates about my stories, the occasional item of commentary, artwork, crafts, or whatever. Also, some of my writing can only be found there, including draft-quality pieces, drabbles, "bonus scenes" from stories I've posted on this website, and items I consider too mature for this site. Fics on the blog include headcanon material, random AU short pieces, and all my Hunger Games crossover one-shots except "Smile for the Cameras." I have a listing of every story I've put online (/my-stories). There is also a listing of things I like and dislike in fiction (original and fanfic). I've migrated to Archive of Our Own (/users/betagyre) and consider it my primary fanfic publication site now. I have not cross-posted everything over there, but several things are there. To summarize what's different there: There is an M-rated "extended edition" of Bad Influence on AO3. It includes most of the Filibusters pieces that fit into the narrative of the story, seamlessly woven into the text. It also contains embedded illustrations in the form of small images in the chapter headers. Filibusters itself encompasses "Safe Place" on AO3, unlike on ffnet. It does not contain the pieces that went into the AO3 "director's cut" of Bad Influence. If you want to read the originals for these stories, stay on ffnet; they are unchanged from when they first went up. "Victory Speech" is more explicit on AO3. Serpentine Moves is uncensored on AO3, as previously mentioned. Choosing Grey and A Marked Deck have embedded illustrations. Both of them have icon-like chapter title images (like Bad Influence). There are also four "real" illustrations for Choosing Grey, the same ones listed in the end notes for the chapters (9, 15, 21, 26) on ffnet, but the images themselves are visible in the text on AO3. (The story text for these fics is the same as it is here.) There are some fics that are only on AO3:
I think that's about it! Thanks for stopping by. |
