Author has written 429 stories for Man From UNCLE, Wild Wild West, NCIS, and Doctor Who.
A bit of a long winded explanation: (hope this all makes sense)
First and foremost; my stories are based on the original TV show and characters, not the movie! I have several OC's in my series and I hope you enjoy their presence. Even in stories that venture into the realm of AU still focus on Illya and Napoleon.
Everyone has their own ideas on what Illya and Napoleon are like, based not just on the show, but on the fanon that has evolved over the years; expanding on their experiences in life...these stories are our own personal fantasies, so I sometimes combine "canon/fanon" with my own thoughts of what their lives in and out of U.N.C.L.E might be like.
Some people have told me that my portrayal of Illya is rather dark in my early stories, and that's partly correct, but taking his backstory from a reality based point of view, it is a very plausible characterization. He was a child of war, and there were many atrocities that took place in his home of Kyiv.
My stories are often grounded in history...real places and not "somewhere in the Swiss Alps" etc. as they vaguely used on the show. ( though I do take some flights of fancy with some sci-fi and fantasy themes) I try to use bits of different languages for authenticity and beg your forgiveness if my translations are a bit off...I try. I will most gladly accept help with anything that is incorrect. PM me! (As of late though, I've been venturing into the world of the supernatural that get away from the reality of my other pieces)
In many of my stories you will see Illya's journey is one in which he experiences a very cruel life in Russia, with a lot of dark secrets that haunt him, and as he continues moving forward, he grows and learns to face his demons and comes into the 'light' so to speak.
I focus on his growth process and what influences caused Illya to become the man that he did. I explore many of the characteristics displayed by Kuryakin on the show. I have numbered most of my stories that are part of a series, now to make it easier to follow, as some of them should be read in order since they are part of an on-going sequence.
The Illya series has now been put in chronological order... The first in the series "Family" will be an ongoing series in itself, with each chapter a stand alone story dealing with Illya and his family until he's 8 years old. There are some stories I'll be adding to the later part of the series, when IK is an adult, some overlap with his being at UNCLE.
I have five story groups: the "Illya-series, These stories go from his childhood onward, with his experiences in USSR, and just as he joins UNCLE. I've numbered these in such a way as to allow me to add chapters to certain stories, more like stand alones, as I continue filling in the gaps in his life.
The Napoleon-series: Napoleon's stories are usually told from his POV (point of view) and take place at different periods in his life before and while in UNCLE.
Next is the Pre-saga-series which are mostly mission based stories that take place when they are the spies that we know and love, are working for UNCLE with no girlfriends/wives/family ties. If you are a fan of canon, then these are the stories for you. These do not have to be read in any specific order.
The main group of stories called the "Saga-series," are on-going AU (alternate universe) involving their personal/family lives, often combined with mission-based stories. Many can be read as 'stand-alones' but behold be read in order, so they'll make sense since I have made a habit of foot-noting/ cross-referencing to other stories in order to help those readers who have not read the series in the correct order.
My newest group of stories that usually involve Illya under a separate heading are called "The Bowery-Mission Stories." They're about his unlikely friendship with an older woman who runs the Bowery Mission in New York City.
For those of you confused by all these series, and cross references... think of it as a time line with the Illya and Solo series in the beginning, the Pre-saga series in the middle (which includes the Bowery stories) then the Saga-series/AU at the end of the on-going time line. Illya and Napoleon are the same throughout the entire time-line, only the people around them change.
Comments and suggestions are welcome, and can only serve to help improve my writing! If you have any ideas for stories, feel free to send me a private message (PM) and let me know, as I love getting those sort of prompts! And I will give you credit for any suggestions of course! I have several stories underway to fill a few requests, but it's been taking me some time to work them out. I'm working on a period piece for Darkwood Princess right now, and recently posted a story for Lindafishes8 called "The Seven Cities Affair."
Please be kind and constructive in what you say to me and all the writers here as well. We're all amateurs and here to enjoy ourselves, whether to read or to write. Negativity really has no place here, whether you do it via review or in pm. There are many common themes, background information, concepts and names that run throughout 'canon' and 'fanon' that no one owns, so there's a lot out there for us all to share!
We don't own the rights to the Man from U.N.C.L.E. either the characters or concept but have been graciously permitted to use them in having our fun ( the late Norman Felton had given his blessings to fan fiction using his concept and characters)
So I hope you enjoy reading my offerings and please remember to let others have their enjoyment as well. It is after all "fantasy." but just a bit of seriousness to interject; the original characters, story-lines/plots and content here belong to me. No one has the right to reference copy or parody them without my express permission/authorization.
It has come to my attention as of late that a particular writer posting very brief stories here has been cherry-picking many original ideas and scenarios from my series as well as from a few other writers.
This is a person I reached out to help learn about MFU as she never saw the show before, nor knew anything about the characters yet she had the NERVE to write stories about something she knew absolutely nothing about. So she repays my kindness by taking from my stories as well as other writers who post here.
YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! SHAME ON YOU! Can't you come up with some original ideas of your own?
Back to niceness now...Spacibo, vas vsem! (thank you all, in Russian) Go raibh maith agaibh! ( thank you all, in Irish)
