Author has written 4 stories for Lord of the Rings.
Just posted my first story and it seems like people are enjoying it, so that's cool. Figured I'd better put something here.
I first read The Lord of the Rings in junior high school and quickly got obsessed. I then read everything else Tolkien and Tolkien-related I could get my hands on at the public library. It was one of those things that got me through rough times, as with many readers.
Fast forward to this past winter – on a whim I decided I wanted to read LOTR again for the first time in twenty-odd years. From an online Middle Earth map I found a link to www.henneth-annun.net, and from there went down the rabbit hole. Not sure where the idea came to try writing my own story, but it happened, and here it is.
"Needle-Point" was not my first idea, but kind of came out when I started assembling things, and I went with it as a warm-up. Don't hold your breath for the next one, though – it's taken me six months to get this one done! The next will require more "research," i.e. re-reading The Silmarillion.
For the record, I've never seen the movies, and have no interest in them. Following the rule of "the movie is never as good as the book," why would I bother ruining my mental images of one of my favorite books with some hack director's version? Have to admit, I admired the ambition (or is it hubris?) of attempting such a feat, but the few minutes I've caught while flipping through cable have confirmed my feeling that it would be disappointing. It is interesting, though, how the movies have sparked a whole wave of new interest, including this creative outlet, so that's good.
Thanks for reading and enjoy!
