![]() Author has written 112 stories for Tangled, Star Trek: 2009, Lord of the Rings, Danny Phantom, Merlin, Silmarillion, Romeo & Juliet, and Hobbit. I'm AzureSkye, or just Skye. (Or you can call me Azure...whichever) I almost exclusively write for the works of J.R.R. Tolkien these days, and have some rather distinct ideas about that canon. I take Tolkien's idea that the Red Book of Westmarch (LotR and the Hobbit) and the Quenta Silmarillion are historical documents, and deal with them as I would any other such work (I have a BA in History). What that means is, not all of my ideas are really canon, or compatible with Letters, but could exist in a world where the Red Book and the Silmarillion were written. Mainly, this difference centers around Sauron. I find evil for evil's sake rather boring, and write him as a complex, conflicted individual. As a result, the view I often give him is rather sympathetic. Innocence seems to be the only story that really stands behind all the others, and it might be helpful to read that one if you are confused about some of the backstory mentioned in the others. One other original idea of mine that would be helpful to note is that in my stories, Gandalf and Sauron are brothers, with Gandalf (Olórin) being the elder. I tend to forget that people don't know that, and throw it into my stories very casually these days. :) So, for those confused about the order of my stories, I'm making a list of all the major ones. Almost everything I've written is interconnected, even if it's an AU. But to really understand my universe, here's some suggested reading... Innocence: This one really stands behind most of the others. This story is the one that explains why my Sauron is the way he is. Redemption/Reclamation AU: Post Silmaril fiasco, Beren and Lúthien find and care for an extremely wounded Sauron. This leads him to *actually* take Eönwë up on the whole returning to Valinor thing. Reclamation explores the consequences of that action. It's not yet finished, but not abandoned. Chained: It's a short oneshot, but it does tie into Reclamation. Salvation: It's a short little oneshot, but somehow so many of my stories end up with echoes of it... Forging Rings: One of my few second age fics. Explores the creation of the Rings. Oneshot. One Small Change AU: Ar-Pharazôn decides to take Sauron with him when he attacks Valinor. Oneshot. Fallen AU: Forth Age, Frodo decides to have mercy even on Sauron, and convinces the Valar likewise. The Bond Between Brothers AU: This was a originally a series of one-shots that I later wove together into a full story. Saruman claims the Ring, and Sauron rescues Gandalf from Orthanc. |
