I'm an old fat bald guy that has read Harry Potter fan fiction exclusively for at least 12 years. After all that time, I was prompted to write my own story as a way to use ideas that I hadn't seen anywhere before. I mentioned them in a final author's note but I thought that I would mention them again here.

There have been many things that I have not run across in all the fan fiction that I have read. We have all read stories that Harry has found his vault full of many things besides money. Harry's ancestors placed items in the vaults that they thought had great value or meaning and most of these stories state that there are many books within the vault. Yet these stories show Harry ignoring the rich source of knowledge available to only him, in favor of buying common books at Flourish and Blotts. I have never understood why he doesn't take the time to use the valuable books and items in the vault to his benefit. This idea lead me to have Harry spend time in his vault. The original concept of the tent was to facilitate the idea of giving Harry a lot of time to explore his vault. Of course, it provided more possibilities than that.

Having Harry come from a long line of ancestors that were less than honest and were like the Robin Hoods of their time is something else I haven't read anywhere.

We have all heard “money is power”. I have never understood why no one used money as the “power he knows not”. There have been countless stories where Harry has been super rich and nothing is ever done with the wealth. I finally wanted to see this idea in print. I couldn't remember seeing a story where a bounty was placed on Voldemort and the Death Eaters and wanted to see this idea used. I had reviewers point out to me that Robst's 'No Hurry at All' used this idea, and I stand corrected. I will state that this idea is vastly underused.

Having the entire student body rebel against Umbridge and Snape was another thing that I haven’t seen. Having Gryffindor house decide that house points are meaningless and do what it wants is new to me. I have read many stories where Harry declares war on Snape and/or Umbridge, but never leading the entire school to demand justice. Dumbledore and the school administration are not exempt from feeling the forces of rebellion to unpopular and oppressive actions and decisions, and having Harry lead the rebellion is a fun idea.

I haven't seen the idea of using the dark mark against Voldemort before. How the dark mark works and the possibilities of using it in a story has never been used in anything that I have read. J K Rowling mentions magic mirrors twice in her books, yet I haven't seen anyone take advantage of the possibilities this gives to a fan fiction writer.

In many super rich Harry stories, Harry will discover that he already owns the Daily Prophet or he simply buys it. I haven't seen a story where he must plot, plan, and exert a lot of effort to wrest control of the paper. Having Harry go to extremes to get control and then putting Remus in charge is unique to me. I don't remember any story where Remus runs the Daily Prophet.

We have all read stories of Harry's super patronus, but I have never read where it was used as the instrument of death against Voldemort. Most commonly it is used to destroy dementors, but why not the big guy himself?

When I decided to write my own story, I gave a lot of thought as to what "my" Harry was going to be. I wanted him to be rich and without super powers so that "the power he knows not" could be a major part of the plot. I also needed to decide the rest of Harry's personality. So many stories have him be a righteous, infallible, supreme force that never makes a mistake and must never suffer the consequences of his actions. It was an easy decision to have Harry start out being a shy, naive, and clueless teenager that doesn't understand or consider the consequences of his actions. As he uses his photos to manipulate the wizarding world, he is sure that he will be embarrassed when he goes back to school but he is clueless as to how bad it could be.

Many people think that I may have gone over the top with how the girls have acted. I have read many accounts of real life teenage idols and rock stars who have to have a large guard force to protect them from screaming frantic fans. Many former teenage idols have published memoirs of being stripped, groped and assaulted by wild uncontrollable teenage girls. In my story, Harry is famous, rich and good looking. He is even more famous because of his pictures, and viewed as even more rich because he is viewed with gold, and his good looks are enhanced by his nudity. Add in the "bad boy" nudity and you have all the elements there for a major teenage idol. Hogwarts is full of girls the right age to be teeny boppers and groupies. It seems to be a natural situation to me.

Having Harry suffer the consequences of his actions from ill-conceived plans, which a typical teenager wouldn’t consider, is another thing that is rarely used. Having the consequences of his actions result in forcing him to lose the life that he has known in Hogwarts with his friends is another thing that I haven’t seen.

I don't know that I am going to write another story. I don't want to use the same ideas that have been used many times before. I have a couple of ideas that I have been thinking about but they are not enough for a long story and that is the only kind of story that I like. Writing this story was fun and reading the reviews is far more thrilling than I thought it would be. The experience has been fun and it would be fun to do it again.
