Poll: What are the most underused/appreciated HG pairings in the Harry Potter series? Vote Now!
Author has written 2 stories for Harry Potter.
I am working on a 300k story that I plan to finish before posting because I have always hated starting stories that will be abandoned. Its just one of my personal peeves.
Someone has suggested to me that I should actually fill in my profile so people looking at it can decide if their taste is similar enough to be worth taking the time to look at stories and favorites. So… Quick topic and summary overview coming up.
Mostly Harry Potter Stories. Some Buffy, Marvel and DC Comics, Firefly, Riddick, Glee, Janet Evanovich, etc. Lots of crossovers. Most stories in favorites will be complete.
All HP stories will be Hermione-centric
I dislike weak, meek and emotional punching bag Hermione.
Ron is, at best, self absorbed and not that bright. Often both verbally and emotionally abusive. He won’t ever be paired with Hermione in anything I write or read.
Molly is completely overbearing, judgmental, smothering and has an overdeveloped sense of self importance when it comes to her opinions. It didn’t help that Arthur had no backbone.
Ginny is almost a non character in the books. I have nothing against her. Some Ginny bashing will be mixed in and its simply because it is so easy to write and read. A fan girl, an occasional friend, a fellow soldier. No aspect of her was developed enough to matter.
Percy is pompous and self important.
The others I like. Bill, Charlie, Fred and George are all fun characters and pairings.
The old man is either senile, well meaning with a god complex or simply a smarter version of Grindelwald. Take your pick. Regardless many decisions are questionable.
HG/Multi Pairings (FW/HG/GW, BW/HG/CW, DM/HG/BZ, etc.)
Unusual Characters (Adrian Pucey, Kingsley, Oliver, James Potter, Rabastan/Rodolphus Lestrange, Cedric, Luna…)
Alpha Males, I know its cliched but I like dominant, powerful, semi obsessive partners. (Male or Female) She can, and preferably will, be equally Alpha type but I just don't like the tortured poet or sensitive types. Not all stories will be, but probably half share this preference.
Dark, Ruthless, Powerful, Confident, Independent
Sirius, Lucius, Harry, Twins, Bill
Kickass Hermione and Luna
Major Baggage, Angst, Self Loathing, High Maintenance (Snape, Lupin)
Indecision or the inability to choose a partner (i.e. Harry can’t choose between Gin and Hermione)
Faithlessness/Infidelity (no second chances allowed). It doesn't matter if it's her or him, loyalty is one of my big things.
Adding or changing the pairing halfway through the story (turning a HP/HG story into a HG/HP/LL) I have nothing against multiple pairings but they should be clearly marked as such at the beginning.
No suicide or suicidal tendencies.
No self destructive behavior (cutting, addictions, etc)
No authors notes or commentary in the middle of a story. If it's necessary to the story find a way to work it in, if it's not stick it at the end of the chapter.
And for any Non-HP fans
Twilight - Neither Edward or Jacob will make an appearance anywhere on this list
Buffy - Buffy/Spike, Buffy/Angelus, Buffy/Faith or Buffy/crossover character
- I HATE Xander. List below isnt mine but covers many of my reasons and is a great read if interested.
Stephanie Plum Series - Stephanie/Ranger
Inuyasha - Kagome/Sesshoumaru or Kagome/Inunotaisho
Glee - Rachel/Santana or Rachel/Puck
Firefly - River/Riddick (crossover) or River/Mal
