My name is beky and I’m a very avid reader/writer. Obviously I have yet to write my own fan fiction stories. Currently I’m having too much fun reading everyone else’s creativity. But when that changes, you guys will definitely be the first to know.
If you can’t tell from my variety of favorited stories, I have a very random taste when it comes to fanfiction. Fandoms I will read about are: Game of Thrones/A Song of Fire and Ice, Harry Potter, Twilight, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, Glee, Community, Tin Man, Star Wars, X-Men, and several movie fandoms that are too many to list here.
Couples/Pairings that I like LOVE:
One of my best friends once told me that I have a thing for doomed relationships. I was quick to deny it, but I have since realized there might have been some truth in what she said. Because try as I deny it, the couples I love to read about, obsess over, are always considered au or noncanon couples because they only exist in my little fangirl obsessed mind. My reasoning for that is that if I wanted to read about a canon relationship then I would just read/watch about it from its original source. I have no desire to read an Edward/bella fic (despite how much I love them) because in my mind there story has already been played out within the Twilight series. The same thing goes for other canon couples. I think the few canon pairings that I still obsess over are Annie/Jeff from Community, Jeremy/Anna and Damon/Elena from Vampire Diaries and Dan/Blair from Gossip Girl, who have only recently been considered a canon pairing. So enough blabbing on my part, here are my favorite pairings: From Harry Potter, Hermione/Severus, Hermione/Draco, Hermione/Charlie, Hermione/Lucius, Hermione/Sirius, Hermione/Remus, Hermione/George, Hermione/Fred, Hermione/Bill (honestly I could probably ship Hermione with anybody except Ron), Bill/Luna, Draco/Luna, Charlie/Gabrielle, Neville/Victorie. From Twilight, Jasper/Bella (seriously one of my favorite OTPs). From Vampire Diaries, besides Damon/Elena and Jeremy/Anna, I absolutely adore Klaus/Caroline and Elijah/Elena. The random other pairings I love: Jaime/Sansa (another OTP) and Sandor/Sansa from A Song of Fire and Ice/Game of Thrones. Wolverine/Rogue and Cyclops/Rogue from X-Men. Azkadelia/Ambrose and Azkadelia/Cain from Tin Man. From Glee, Will/Quinn.
If you haven’t noticed from some of my favorite pairings, I like a few that have a number of years separating their ages. There are a few things I wanted to address about that. First off I am definitely not ok with fics that portray the girl as 16 and younger. (My main exception from this involves the ASOIAFpairings where Sansa is very young, but often is portrayed as older than she is. Of course my favorite stories of her are future fics where hopefully she’s a little older than she is in the original books). Even 17 is sometimes cutting it a little close. But 18 and up I am totally fine as long as they are portraying their age probably or at least making them seem even more mature than their age might suggest. I cannot tell you have many fics I have read, where although the girl is supposed to be 18, she just sounds like some whiny 15 year old which totally ends up icking me out. Other than that, I don’t really find it that creepy because for one I am 22 and would not have a problem dating an older man. Even if he were 20 years older than me, well let’s just say if he looked as fine Johnny Depp, Paul Rudd, or Will Smith then I would definitely not be complaining. There are also some pairings like Will/Quinn that I end up loving more because of the chemistry portrayed between the actors and since Matt is only 8 years older than Diana, then it’s just not really creepy to me. But I am sorry if anyone disagrees with me, I have no wish to offend anyone, I am simply sharing my personal thoughts on the matter.
What I will read:
As is obvious from my fandoms and pairings, I have a wide variety of taste. So really I will read anything, especially if it focuses on one of the noncanon couples I love. If you ever want to recommend a story, just pm me. My only real requirement is that it is written well. Minor errors don’t bug me, because I often make my own. But huge grammatical mistakes will sometimes ruin a story for me. Luckily, I have been around fanfiction for awhile now and can honestly say that the good writers outnumber the bad! Many of you have very promising futures in publishing, if you should ever decide to pursue something like that.
Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.
