The world I live in is far too steeped in reality, so I turn to fiction when I need to be reminded that people are truly good. Dipping my toe into the fanfic world for the second time with Castle, after living in the Pride and Prejudice universe for a while.
I read and write news like it's my job (it would be, if I got paid...) so I'm a little less confident with writing fiction. But the few things I've written, I'm proud of how they've turned out.
Currently working on two Castle stories and hoping to pick up a Beta or two along the way. I don't publish until the story is completely outlined and more than half finished, since life has a way of interrupting the best-laid plans and I don't believe in leaving readers hanging (for more than a few days!):
- Missed Connections - a multichap fic picking up a year or so after Season 3 (minus the finale... I started writing it before the finale and since the events of that episode shifted canon so much I would be telling a totally different story if I wanted to account for Kate getting shot/Castle's declaration). A serial killer has started dumping bodies on a beach in Long Island, but a Manhattan connection lands the case on Kate Beckett's desk. She and Castle have spent four years working together, and now that he's nearly done with his fourth Nikki Heat novel, will they have a future together?
- Untitled (so far) - a multichap AU fic that re-imagines Castle and Beckett's first encounter: Kate Beckett's world was rocked when her mother was murdered, and she mostly channeled her pain into her training at the Police Academy. But one night after she meets a young forensic pathologist named Lanie Parish, they hit the town looking for a distraction. Beckett can't imagine her shock when, years later, she comes face-to-face with the One Night Stand whose eyes had haunted her all these years--but whose name she never knew.
