Author has written 15 stories for Emergency.
I found FanFiction over three years ago while recovering from Spinal Fusion Surgery. Six weeks of rest, NO WORK, and a new laptop led me here. And, I am glad to have found a group of folks with similar interests--though it is hard to call someone "friend" whom one has NEVER met in person...I feel a kinship with many of you (and, we communicate on FaceBook as well :-)
I am a 40-something, single female residing in beautiful southeast Texas. I have lived here for over 20 years--moving from my home state of Indiana. I reside in a suburb of Houston, TX, with four cats (Ellie - 16 years; Pepper - 9 years; and Ditto and Jesse--two perfectly adorable Tortoise shell kittens - about 1 year old).
I am waiting (some say 'impatiently') for the man that God will provide to be my husband (if that never happens, I am okay with that; but, I am hopeful). I hope to have children and have a big family soon!!
As a child, the television was my babysitter, my imaginary world, my friend...it provided an escape when I did not particularly like my own world. So, these shows (Emergency!, in particular) were a fantasy world to which I could escape. I so desired to be a paramedic (firefighter, nurse, doctor--it changed from week-to-week) and help people. I wanted to marry John Gage :-) And, my imagination was filled with stories and plots for all the shows I watched.
As I mentioned, I have found a kinship with the fans and writers here and a renewed "energy" and love for writing. Creative writing became my joy as early as 8-9 years old. I wrote poetry mostly, some short stories, and all my English assignments in high school ended up being creative in nature (even my research papers--I drove my teachers crazy!! :-)
My imagination is still ripe with stories, plots and "wishes" for my life. If I could have chosen another line of work (I work for a non-profit, homeless mission), I think I would have liked to write for television--I am "in tune" with the writers of the shows I watch (my Dad is amazed by me most of the time--I usually can figure out who the killer is; where the plot line is going; and, what will happen next!--it freaks him out sometimes). Now, on an amatuer basis, I am able to use this medium to set my ideas and stories to "paper" and share with others. It is a release for me...cathartic...comforting, almost.
Influenced by my dad, I enjoyed cop/fire fighter shows, detective shows, mystery shows...and, that carries on to today. I also had some "sci-fi" influence as well (Star Trek, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Twilight Zone, etc.). TV was my life...for a very long time.
At age eleven, I attended a summer church-camp with a friend of mine and, it was there that I accepted Christ as my Savior. I am a Christian who does not claim to be "perfect" or having arrived at some state above others. I am merely a sinner, saved by grace and thankful for it. My beliefs, fears, regrets, and experiences over the years will undoubtedly make their way into my writing. If I offend, don't read; if I inspire, I'm humbled; if I make you think about what you believe, I challenge you to read the book of John in the Holy Bible. It is a wonderful place to begin, or continue, your spiritual journey.
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." John 14:6 That is the core of my belief.
I pray for honest reviews and input from you all as I submit my stories...kindness will be appreciated also (I have seen some very scathing reviews here--there is no reason to cause hurt; "speak the truth in love")
Grace and peace to all of you!
Just found this quote--sums up why I write: "Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self." Cyril Connolly
