BACK ON AO3!

So, good news: I'm back in the fanfic saddle again!

Bad news (kinda) it's not here on FF. Instead, I have a brand-new account on AO3 (JudasFm) if anyone wants to check it out! At some point, I'll port my Death Note fics (Resurrection and Ghost Woman over there) and leave the others here. All new fanfics (Family Values is finally coming, although I'm not sure when) will be uploaded on AO3. Hope to see you guys there!

So recently I've been getting a surge of PMs from freelance artists that all follow the same kind of spiel (reading your work is like watching a movie, I felt inspired to create art for it, are you active on any other platforms etc.)

Please note that I do not commission fanart of my own works. I wish you well with your artistic endeavors, but you will not be getting any commissions from me; I have my own art team that I use for my professional work, and I can't afford to spend money on paying people to create fanart.

(Of course, if you want to create fanart for free like some awesome people on my profile, then that's amazing and you go right ahead!)

The most recent inmate deleted their reposting of Resurrection pretty much as soon as I asked and even PM'ed me to apologize, so they're free. The oldest one...well, the FoxTVKids website went down and took the plagiarism with it, so that's all fine XD

But let's get one thing straight here: reposting my work with or without credit is not allowed. Period. The only exception is for those people who translate it; so long as you check first and give me credit, that's fine.

If it is not a translation, you DO NOT have permission to repost my work for any reason! (If it is a translation, that's absolutely fine, but PM me so I can link to your translation from my profile)

There is NO expiration date on this! That means I will NOT accept excuses like, "Well, you haven't posted a story for ages so I thought it would be okay to steal an old one and pass it off as my own."

To avoid any claims of "Oh, sorry, I didn't quite understand what you meant," I'll break it down into its simplest form.

You MAY NOT repost my work today.

You MAY NOT repost my work tomorrow, or next week.

You MAY NOT repost my work at any time this year.

You MAY NOT repost my work next year either.

In fact, you MAY NOT repost my work at any time before the heat death of the universe. Clear?

I don't care why you want to do it or what excuses you make; if I find any of my work reposted, I will treat it as stolen. You will be named and shamed not just here on my site but in the comments on your own. I will link to the plagiarized work from the Hall of Shame so anyone who comes here can see what you've done. I will PM every single reader who may already have left comments on the stolen work and tell them what you have done, and I will contact the site mods and admins and just about anyone else I can to report you and get your plagiarism removed ASAP. If you think I'll hold off on reporting you until you respond or until you've had X hours to remove what you stole from me, think again.

If my doing any of the above results in your account or your whole family's account or your Great Aunt Muriel's account being banned and everything in it deleted and/or you being kicked out of communities and forums, that's just too bad. You should have thought of that before you stole someone else's hard work.

Guys, come on. I know some people think I've left FF and no longer check in and so I won't know if you steal my stuff, but that's not the case. I'm still very much around, and if you steal and repost ANY of my work, I will find out at some point and I will come after you with everything I have. Trust me on this one. Because seriously, plagiarists are the worst kind of scum in the Fanfic world.

To the 99.9% of decent, honest readers who just got blammed with the above, I'm sorry. I'm just so, so sick and tired of putting hours of work into writing these stories only to have people try to steal my credit.

To the 0.1% of plagiarists out there, consider the above to be the only warning you'll ever get from me.

Just so you know, none of the external links in my profile work. This isn't because I'm lazy about checking them; it's because FF have done something weird. The URLs show up fine in my account, but for some reason in the public view they all redirect here. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon...

I would just like to reiterate once and for all that:

A) The ONLY name I will EVER post my fanfics under in a forum is JudasFm

B) The ONLY forums/sites which have permission to host the fanfics here are Fanfiction.net, , The J Universe and ATSB

C) A very select few of my stories, such as the Death Note fics, have been or are being reposted by me on my deviantArt account, purely to share with the dA Group I belong to

D) Linking A, B and C, if you find ANY of my stories on ANY other site (no matter what name they're under) they have been STOLEN. Yes, even if they're under the name JudasFm. I don't go in for forums much; I like to write as exclusively as possible ;)

E) The new exception to this is AO3; the JudasFm there is also me. I'll be reposting Resurrection and maybe Ghost Woman there as well, but the other fics can stay here.

REGARDING MY PENNAME

Someone recently informed me - very nicely - that my penname JudasFm may be offensive or disturbing to some people. Please believe me when I say I did not choose it to mock or deride the Christian faith. Yes, I'm fully aware of the connotations and no, I'm not going to change it, but if you're one of those people it does offend, then please accept my apologies.

Story behind penname: Pretty simple. The first real online community I joined (and actually participated in) was one for the actor Jerome Pradon, who played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar. Since I didn't want to give out my real name at that point, I just extended it a bit from Jude to Judas ;)

The Fm part came much later, when I was registering with AOL instant messenging. Apparently the name Judas was taken by a few hundred people already, and I was told to put something in 'about me'. I wrote 'female' and AOL suggested JudasFem. I wasn't too keen on that (not sure why but still) and so I shortened it to JudasFm. It's pretty unique and I like it.

(Even if some grammatically-inclined people do insist on making me into a radio station by writing it as JudasFM =P)

Full name: Jude Mireille Naka Austin. I finally managed to drop two middle names and swap the third (yes, it's official; got the deed poll to prove it :P) At least now my full name fits on the passport application...

I Want To Write This Story Called "Resurrection" But I Read Your Opening Paragraph In Your Profile And Now I'm Worried You're Going To Kill Me With Fire For Plagiarism...:

Yes, I have actually been asked questions like this. And here's how it goes.

There is really no problem with you having the same story name, or same chapter names as anything of mine. Honestly, I can't claim copyright on the word "Resurrection" (in fact, I think there were other Death Note fics called that out there before mine came along), and a lot of my story titles ("As The World Falls Down", "August, October" and "Since You Been Gone") came directly from song lyrics, so I'm really not in any position to jump on someone else for using them.

I'll even take that one step further and extend it to universe-specific phrases. For example, the amazing Sonic author Taranea has used my hedgehog insult "Get blunted" in some of her fics, and I'm absolutely fine with that. Other people have done short spinoffs or used aspects of character backstory and that's cool too.

Basically if the story itself is yours, regardless of what it's called or what your chapters are called or what it's all about or how you came up with the idea, then you and I will never, ever have a problem. If you copy and paste my story chapter by chapter and reupload it on another site, that's the time when I'm going to come after you with all guns blazing.

Are You Ever Going To Return To The Sonic Fandom: I have!

What Does Bait the Jackal Actually Look Like, I Mean Officially: He's in my DeviantArt gallery, username JudasFm if you want to take a look. I keep meaning to redraw him.

What Sonic Universe Are Your Fics Based In: Again something people ask quite a lot (only for some reason I never added it to the list...weird :P) Anyways. The answer is sort of an all-and-none deal. I use the concept of the planet Mobius (Archie and AoStH...and possibly also Sonic X; I don't think Sonic's planet was ever named). I use the idea that Sonic used to be Robotnik's friend and helper until he screwed up and turned the good doc into the evil megalomaniac we all know and love to hate (Fleetway). I've even been known to drop in references to Sonic Underground in my fics. I refuse to tie myself down to one specific version of events; I take bits from everything that catches my interest and combine those bits to make my own Sonic reality that's constantly changing and being updated as more games get released ;)

What Are The Full Lyrics To The Cherry Pip Song That Keeps Cropping Up In Your Sonic Stories, And Did You Write It Yourself: A complete set of lyrics can be found here in my DeviantArt journal. Warning: not for the prudish or easily shocked ;) And yes, I did write it myself.

Can I Use Ideas From Your Stories:This isn't an ego-trip for me; believe it or not, it's something quite a few people have asked me. The answer is yes, of course you can, so long as you give me credit (something along the lines of "X taken from an idea by JudasFm is fine") Read: if I find out you've stolen my ideas - and believe me, if you publish them on the internet then I will find out sooner or later - I will come down on you hard. If you give me credit, though, you're fine :) And a huge thank you, first of all to those who do ask and give me credit, and secondly to those of you who have spotted my work being plagiarized on other sites and let me know (Yes, this does happen; plagiarists be warned, it's not just me you have to watch out for).

Can I Do Artwork Based On Your Stories: Again, this isn't an ego-trip; I've been asked this more than once. Again, the answer is sure! I'd be honoured! I would like to see a copy where possible (okay, so that IS something of an ego trip, though I'm genuinely curious to see what people come up with) but if it's not, then that's okay too :)

Can I Print Out Your Stories: If you have the time, the ink and the paper, yes, of course (again, I've been asked this by a few people). Basically, so long as you don't reupload them anywhere or take credit for them, you're good to go.

Examples of Art: Well, if people take the time to pay me such a compliment, the least I can do is to link back. I do try and make sure there are no dead links (a couple, like the manga adaptation of Secrets of the Emeralds have sadly been deleted by their creator. Not a whole lot I can do about that :(). Again, thanks to FF's weird policy, you'll need to copy and take out the spaces. They're worth seeing though!

Why Do Your Spelling And Terms Keep Changing From British To American: Fair question ;) First of all, I'm English, although I consider myself an expat (my adopted home is the Canaries), so my earlier stories will have UK spelling and phrases. Secondly, I got so many PMs and comments, not so much on this site as on others, saying Traveler isn't spelt 'traveller' or there's only one L in 'dialed' or just so you know, there's no U in 'color' or your spelling is really bad, you never use any Zs in your words AT ALL (grossly paraphrased, but that is an actual review I got on one of my stories here...I think it was Rambutan). In the end I gave into the inevitable and switched to US spelling. It took a while to get into the habit though, which is why some chapters contain a mixture of both. Thirdly, I use whichever terms seem to fit in with whichever fanfiction universe I'm currently writing in.

Will You Read And Review My Story: I'm really sorry. I would love to, believe me. The problem is that unless it's incredibly short (read: under 1000 words) I really don't have the time. I'm trying to juggle a writing career with two part-time jobs and college studies and the kind of reviews I give take upwards of an hour to write.

I Asked You A Question And You Never Replied. What Gives? Chances are you never gave me any way to answer you. I'm happy to answer all questions (or at least explain why I can't if I can't, usually because you've asked me what's going to happen next in a story) but please bear in mind that I can't reply to anonymous reviews, so unless you give me an email addy or some other way of contacting you, my hands are tied. It's not that I don't want to; it's just that I can't :) I'm on deviantArt a lot, though, or you can always drop me an email. Don't worry; I'm friendly =P Just title it something like Fanfiction so I know it's not spam.

PERMANENTLY DISCONTINUED STORIES

I'm really sorry to fans of these stories - I know how infuriating it is to start reading an unfinished story and find that it was last updated about three years ago - but I don't have the time now that I did before.

1. The Facts of Life and Other Stories. Didn't work out as well as I thought. It's a couple short stories though, so it can stay; it just won't be added to.

Slash Fics: Not now. Not ever. Nothing against it; it just doesn't work for me in this universe.

Sonic Fanfics in the Works: Lessee...

Genesis: The title's gonna have to stand for the moment until I can think of a better one. (Though actually I quite like it; kudos to Matt Lans for the suggestion!) It's basically the story of the Sonic the Hedgehog 1 (Master System/Game Gear version; I've never played the Genesis one) I have the first chapter and various chunks written, so I'll put it up at some point. Watch this space. It'll also start way back, beginning with Sonic's childhood and progressing on to Robotnik later.

Family Values: (This will be uploaded on AO3) Sequel to As The World Falls Down. When the latest in a string of murders hits a little too close to home for the NPA's liking, Soichiro is ordered to redouble his efforts to find the killer. As the bodies begin to pile up, his search for the one responsible will bring not only him but his family into dangerously close contact with the seedy world of Tokyo's most infamous red-light district.
