Author has written 21 stories for Sonic the Hedgehog, A-Team, Sherlock, and Death Note.
AN: I welcome all PMs, but PLEASE read the FAQs further down; if you want to ask me something, chances are someone else has asked it already ;) Please note I am no longer answering questions/reviews about "When are you going to update Master of the Emeralds" or "When are you going to write Endless Winter" Both these questions have already been answered on this page and those answers haven't changed, so if you want to know, scroll down ;)
SECOND AN: Okay, I know that ages ago you guys voted to keep my permanently discontinued stories on the site. However, I really hate leaving things unfinished and so the following stories have been removed.
Four Kids and an Echidna
Underneath the Dying Rambutan
Again, I do have hard copies of all of these, so if anyone wants one for some obscure reason, let me know and I'll happily send it to you, on the obvious condition that you don't reupload it anywhere else.
Also, because the PM system here tends to swallow email addresses, when you put yours, please do so as: name [at] mailserver [dot com]
Now on Twitter
Of course, I'm still trying to figure out how it works, but I'm on there as - what else? - JudasFm. Tweets to follow XD
Back and published!
YES! Finally! After several tries, I managed to get a publisher for my novel Tsunami (now available at all Amazons and various other online bookstores)! For anyone interested, you can read more about it.
I would just like to reiterate once and for all that:
A) The ONLY name I will EVER post my fanfics under in a forum is JudasFm
B) The ONLY forums/sites which have permission to host the fanfics here are Fanfiction.net, Knuckleschaotix.net, The J Universe and ATSB
C) A very select few of my stories, such as the Death Note fics, have been or are being reposted by me on my deviantArt account, purely to share with the dA Group I belong to
D) Linking A, B and C, if you find ANY of my stories on ANY other site (no matter what name they're under) they have been STOLEN. Yes, even if they're under the name JudasFm. I don't go in for forums much; I like to write as exclusively as possible ;)
THE HALL OF SHAME
Reserved for plagiarists the world over.
Current inmates: sonicfan15
Stole Secrets of the Emeralds and posted it on the FoxTVKids website. It was some years ago, but so far the mods are refusing to take it down.
TRANSLATIONS OF MY STORIES
Yes, some amazing people have actually taken it upon themselves to translate my stories! So without further ado:
, translated by Clopina. This only has the first five chapters. I don't know if the translator is going to do any more (I found it quite by chance; I didn't know it even existed until very recently!)
When Mycroft Met Anthea
REGARDING MY PENNAME
Someone recently informed me - very nicely - that my penname JudasFm may be offensive or disturbing to some people. Please believe me when I say I did not choose it to mock or deride the Christian faith. Yes, I'm fully aware of the connotations and no, I'm not going to change it, but if you're one of those people it does offend, then please accept my apologies.
Story behind penname: Pretty simple. The first real online community I joined (and actually participated in) was one for the actor Jerome Pradon, who played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar. Since I didn't want to give out my real name at that point, I just extended it a bit from Jude to Judas ;)
The Fm part came much later, when I was registering with AOL instant messenging. Apparently the name Judas was taken by a few hundred people already, and I was told to put something in 'about me'. I wrote 'female' and AOL suggested JudasFem. I wasn't too keen on that (not sure why but still) and so I shortened it to JudasFm. It's pretty unique and I like it.
(Even if some grammatically-inclined people do insist on making me into a radio station by writing it as JudasFM =P)
Full name: Jude Mireille Naka Austin. I finally managed to drop two middle names and swap the third (yes, it's official; got the deed poll to prove it :P) At least now my full name fits on the passport application...
Favourite food: Chili! I also have an extreme weakness for baklava and pashka. And souvlaki
Favourite drink: Either apple juice or Suso. Or Dr Pepper
MSN/Windows Live Messenger ID: None. I used to have one, but it's now gone. I really don't go in for IMs or chat.
Are You Ever Going To Return To The Sonic Fandom: I have!
What Does Bait the Jackal Actually Look Like, I Mean Officially: He's in my DeviantArt gallery, username JudasFm if you want to take a look. I keep meaning to redraw him.
What Sonic Universe Are Your Fics Based In: Again something people ask quite a lot (only for some reason I never added it to the list...weird :P) Anyways. The answer is sort of an all-and-none deal. I use the concept of the planet Mobius (Archie and AoStH...and possibly also Sonic X; I don't think Sonic's planet was ever named). I use the idea that Sonic used to be Robotnik's friend and helper until he screwed up and turned the good doc into the evil megalomaniac we all know and love to hate (Fleetway). I've even been known to drop in references to Sonic Underground in my fics. I refuse to tie myself down to one specific version of events; I take bits from everything that catches my interest and combine those bits to make my own Sonic reality that's constantly changing and being updated as more games get released ;)
What Are The Full Lyrics To The Cherry Pip Song That Keeps Cropping Up In Your Sonic Stories, And Did You Write It Yourself: A complete set of lyrics can be foundin my DeviantArt journal. Warning: not for the prudish or easily shocked ;) And yes, I did write it myself.
Can I Use Ideas From Your Stories:This isn't an ego-trip for me; believe it or not, it's something quite a few people have asked me. The answer is yes, of course you can, so long as you give me credit (something along the lines of "X taken from an idea by JudasFm is fine") Read: if I find out you've stolen my ideas - and believe me, if you publish them on the internet then I will find out sooner or later - I will come down on you hard. If you give me credit, though, you're fine :) And a huge thank you, first of all to those who do ask and give me credit, and secondly to those of you who have spotted my work being plagiarized on other sites and let me know (Yes, this has happened, twice).
Can I Do Artwork Based On Your Stories: Again, this isn't an ego-trip; I've been asked this more than once. Again, the answer is sure! I'd be honoured! I would like to see a copy where possible (okay, so that IS something of an ego trip, though I'm genuinely curious to see what people come up with) but if it's not, then that's okay too :)
Can I Print Out Your Stories: If you have the time, the ink and the paper, yes, of course (again, I've been asked this by a few people). Basically, so long as you credit them to me and don't reupload anywhere, you're good to go.
Examples of Art: Well, if people take the time to pay me such a compliment, the least I can do is to link back. I do try and make sure there are no dead links (a couple, like the manga adaptation of Secrets of the Emeralds have sadly been deleted by their creator. Not a whole lot I can do about that :().
A very sweet picture of Tails right at the beginning.
Tails getting ready to pounce on an unsuspecting Sonic...
Chibi Bait :P So cute...
Tails drawing his picture for Sonic. I really love this one!
Tails' finished picture. Very sweet and one of my favourites!
Why Do Your Spelling And Terms Keep Changing From British To American: Fair question ;) First of all, I'm English, although I consider myself an expat (my adopted home is the Canaries, although I also consider it a compliment when people mistake me for American. Yes, it has happened), so my earlier stories will have UK spelling. Secondly, I got so many PMs and comments, not so much on this site as on others, saying Traveler isn't spelt 'traveller' or there's only one L in 'dialed' or just so you know, there's no U in 'color' or your spelling is really bad, you never use any Zs in your words AT ALL (grossly paraphrased, but that is an actual review I got on one of my stories here...I think it was Rambutan). In the end I gave into the inevitable and switched to US spelling. It took a while to get into the habit though, which is why some chapters contain a mixture of both. Thirdly, I use whichever terms seem to fit in with whichever fanfiction universe I'm currently writing in.
Will You Read And Review My Story: Again, really not an ego trip; I've been asked this a few times and the honest answer is, it depends.
First of all, if the story is slash (unless it's between two OCs or characters that are canonically gay) then the answer is probably not, so any Hannibal/Face, Face/Murdock, Sonic/Shadow, John/Sherlock, L/Light, insert-random-pairing-here won't get a viewing. That's not because I'm homophobic, but simply because I like characters in a story to stay in character. Having openly heterosexual canon characters suddenly turn gay for no better reason than well, they spend LOADS of time together, therefore it MUST be true because I want to write about it is about as OC as it gets. Again, I've nothing against it in principle - fanfiction is based around the whole concept of what-if - but I'm not interested in reading it either.
Exceptions: Okay, having said all that, I will admit that if it's a really unusual or rarely seen pairing, such as John x Moriarty, with a well thought out plot as to how the other characters would be affected by it, then I might get curious enough to take a look. That's unusual pairing as opposed to downright weird (Sonic x Robotnik...no. Let's not go there).
If it's smut (and yes, this has happened) then forget it. Period.
Secondly, if you ask me to review a story in a fandom that I know nothing about, my answer is also no, although in this case I will always let you know. Since I only write for a few of the TV shows or games or movies that I like (I love M*A*S*H, for example, but have no plans to write anything for it) it's worth asking me.
To save time, however, if it's a soap opera of any description, in any country - with the exception of Casualty, and even then it's just the earlier series - I won't have seen it.
Thirdly - and this is just something to bear in mind if you're exceptionally sensitive - when it comes to reviewing, I don't pull my punches. If something in your story doesn't work or characters are OOC, I'll tell you (though I'll also offer suggestions on what might work better and will never flame you or get personally abusive). This does go the other way; if something you wrote made me laugh or I loved the way you wrote about this situation or that one, then I'll tell you that too ;) But if you're looking for someone who's just going to gush about your wonderful story and not mention that you spelled every other word wrong or that new dialog needs a new line, then you don't want me for a reviewer ;)
Why Haven't You Updated Insert-Story-Here Yet and When Will It Be Updated: In answer to the first question, probably because - believe it or not - I do have a life outside of writing fanfic. Rest assured that few stories shall be left abandoned ;) As for when they're updated...they'll be updated when they're updated. I'm not one of these people who update every three days just so they can say, "Hey, look at me, I update every three days, aren't I cool?"
If you really want some idea, I try to update at least one of my stories once a month. Please don't submit additional reviews just saying UPDATE or wen r u gonna update? or anything that means the same thing. It makes no difference to how fast I work or how fast you'll get the updates in question.
I also never tell people that I'm going to update on a certain day or time, or even a certain month, as very often I can't meet that deadline.
I Asked You A Question And You Never Replied. What Gives? Chances are you never gave me any way to answer you. I'm happy to answer all questions (or at least explain why I can't if I can't, usually because you've asked me what's going to happen next in a story) but please bear in mind that I can't reply to anonymous reviews, so unless you give me an email addy or some other way of contacting you, my hands are tied. It's not that I don't want to; it's just that I can't :) I'm on deviantArt a lot, though, or you can always drop me an email. Don't worry; I'm friendly =P Just title it something like Fanfiction so I know it's not spam.
Which Story Are You Going to Update Next: This is something I've also been asked, although not as regularly as the previous two ;) I update fairly regularly, just not the same story. I also have a priority list of stories...the further down it is on this list, the longer your wait is likely to be. I can't update five or six stories simultaneously, much as I would like to. If you really want to read the list, here it is:
1. My own, professional writing. Takes priority over everything. No exceptions. I do try and balance it with other fics wherever possible though.
2. Sequel to Resurrection. I really am doing my best to try and get back to a semi-weekly update on this one, like I did for Resurrection.
3. Endless Winter. It's too early to tell how often I'll be able to update this one. I have a lot of ideas for it, but right now I'm not going to commit to a schedule that I might not be able to stick to.
4. Adopted. I've hit something of a wall with this one, so it's moved down in the list. I will get back to it, as soon as I can sit down and completely rewrite the next chapter.
5. Underneath the Dying Rambutan. Not sure if this one will be updated again. It hasn't been abandoned yet, but you shouldn't look for updates anytime soon.
6. Master of the Emeralds. Okay, I can safely say that this one will be updated and finished. However, I have no plans to return to it until after Endless Winter is finished. When that's done, I'll concentrate on this one.
PERMANENTLY DISCONTINUED STORIES
I'm really sorry to fans of these stories - I know how infuriating it is to start reading an unfinished story and find that it was last updated about three years ago - but I don't have the time now that I did before.
1. The Facts of Life and Other Stories. Didn't work out as well as I thought. It's a couple short stories though, so it can stay; it just won't be added to.
Slash Fics: Not now. Not ever. Nothing against it; it just doesn't work for me in this universe.
Sonic Fanfics in the Works: Lessee...
Genesis: The title's gonna have to stand for the moment until I can think of a better one. (Though actually I quite like it; kudos to Matt Lans for the suggestion!) It's basically the story of the Sonic the Hedgehog 1 (Master System/Game Gear version; I've never played the Genesis one) I have the first chapter and various chunks written, so I'll put it up at some point. Watch this space. It'll also start way back, beginning with Sonic's childhood and progressing on to Robotnik later.
Death Note Fanfics in the Works:
Family Values: Sequel to As The World Falls Down. When the latest in a string of murders hits a little too close to home for the NPA's liking, Soichiro is ordered to redouble his efforts to find the killer. As the bodies begin to pile up, his search for the one responsible will bring not only him but his family into dangerously close contact with the seedy world of Tokyo's most infamous red-light district.
And one last thing, Ninety-five percent of the kids out there are concerned with being popular and fitting in. If you're part of the five percent who aren't, copy this, put it in your profile, and add your name to the list. AnimeKittyCafe, Hyperactivley Bored, Gem W, Bara-Minamino, Yavie Aelinel, Crazy Billie Joe Loving Freak, Shadow929, The Astrology Nerd, brown-eyed angelofmusic, piratesswriter/fairy to be, The Gypsy-Pirate Queen, loop-de-loop-ride, wfea, Iaveina, Mizz Molko, JudasFm
Okay, that's it! Thanks for visiting my little corner of FF.net!
