Wow... I'm actually kinda amazed, I've been at this site for 7 years come this December. That's a very long time. Looking around at my collection of stories, I have to say I am not impressed. If anything, I'm kinda embarrassed by it, part because well, I write fan fiction, what does that say about me, haha, but mostly because of the quality of my writing. I re-read alot of my old stuff, and to say I cringed would be putting it mildly.
What brings me back here after an approximately 5 year hiatus? Well, you have FF8 to thank for this, I was playing it again after not having touched it for maybe 3, 4 years and while wandering around the Hasberry Plains near Dollet (you know I'm a geek when I can name the damn place I was wandering in) in search of Wendigoes for steel pipes, I thought of all the fan fiction I used to read and, well, giving up that fruitless quest (which came to naught because my game got CORRUPTED argh!) I came online and to my surprise (although why I was surprised I do not know) found all this intact. I use parentheses too much.
I wrote most of the stories I have here when I was bloody 13, I feel so old right now and I know I'm gonna get flamed at about this, Rachel you're not old you're not even a proper adult yet! I'm 19 by the way. I know alot of the writers here are waay older than I am, haha, but let me muse! Anyway, I'm actually a bit impressed by the quality of writing I produced, if you take into consideration the fact that I was just 13. That doesn't take away the fact that I'm embarrassed by it, I mean, I spelt 'signature' as 'signiture', whatever happened to spell check? "I'd rather marry an ugly woman who was as smart as Einstein than a dumb blonde who barely knew left from right."??? That's just juvenile and shows a lack of creativity and vocabulary. And for some idiotic reason I got into my young head that the longer and more intricate the description, with as many big words as possible, the better the story. Sure it's fun to describe stuff alot, and maybe some of you like reading very descriptive writing, but I'm not one of them and I get bored reading my own fics. They're too lengthy sometimes, and I tend to write irrelevant stuff, and you can see the level of my maturity through my writing. It's not very high.
(I know you're not supposed to start a sentence with 'and', and I try my best to avoid it but this situation really calls for it, please forgive me)
Maybe I'm being too hard on myself, but I'll let my work speak for itself. I've decided to completely revamp my profile, I want to edit the stories I wrote, most probably update and continue the stories (good news to the people who actually read my fiction pieces from, I dunno, 4 years ago?). I like to think my writing has matured over the last 5 years, so humour me. I've also become very pedantic about my writing, which is just a nicer way of saying I've become really analabout it. Anyway, the originals are the UNCUT labelled k, I'm not too sure if this is approved by fanfiction.net, but surely it's not wrong to put up the old versions of my writing so people can tell me how I've improved? (Like they can be bothered, hah!)
However, please note that I've lost (or destroyed) pretty much all my drafts and notes for the stories, and it's been about 5 years since I even thought about them, so I'm actually as interested in what's gonna happen next as you are. I have a vague idea what I had in store for my fics, so we'll see k. Although, I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you. It's one thing to edit a piece, that's easy, you have the foundation all set up for you, it's just a matter of fixing it. Writing a whole new chapter, now that's a whole different pie altogether. I'd have to fit this in between school (I'm currently a full time student studying for a Diploma in Business Administration, though I may jump over to Accountancy because accountants earn a bloody lot), work (I part-time a tutor to a 12 year old kid who's having some major exams coming up in a bit, as well as occasionally help out at a cafe that feeds the US Army when they fly into town for like training sessions or something I dunno, and that is a real killer, once I worked 9 to 9 for about a month almost every day) as well as my other interests, i.e. music (trying to learn the guitar) and art (I draw, visit my profile at though currently there really isn't anything there yet, couldn't be bothered to scan in my latest drawings).
Okay, I've run out of things to say. If you've reached this line, congratulations, you've survived me talking about me!
