Author has written 1 story for True Blood.
Ah, fanfiction... where the bad boy changes for the good girl in an angsty ride marked by multiple mutually satisfying orgasms and a certain gracious plenty.
What I read:
-- Anything well (carefully) written in terms of character development. I'm more interested in character than plot although a great fic needs both of course in order to effect change in the characters.
-- H.E.E.A.: The second E is important: Happily Ever EVENTUALLY After. That means NOT happy from the beginning (I think the official FF term is 'fluff').
-- R.B.B: Reform-ING Bad Boy. Ie: stories that show insight into the process of personal growth and change realistically.
-- Lemons. Nuff said. Naughty.
-- Fixing True Blood.
-- I'll dabble in A/H SMV and TB where particularly angsty or lemony.
-- I'll dabble in other FFdoms especially where particularly angsty or lemony. (Recently Draco and Hermione, strangely enough. Seems I'm a sucker for a total lost cause. Sigh. Daddy issues much?)
What I don't read (as a general rule... I make some exceptions):
-- Fated-to-be-together stories
-- Pregnant Sookie
-- Vamp Sookie
If I were to change my profile name it would be 'Mister Eric's Girl'. Although there is no mystery about what that means, to get the actual reference for this you have to read CaliforniaKat's 'Back and Forth.' So I am obviously "Team Eric". If you're not you might as well move right along. I find the search engine here frustrating and end up finding some great stories by reading others' lists of favourite stories. What I love most is an angsty/badass Eric grappling with his feelings for Sookie (although CaliforniaKat has shown me the beauty of a well-written, loving, REFORMED Eric). Generally I love stories dealing with the best and worst of TB. While I love the books - and especially Sookie in the books - I was shaped first by the TB universe and those stories are generally my favourites. Maybe that is because Charlaine Harris's world is already created for the written word and is therefore quite fleshed out and detailed from Sookie's perspective, while the TB universe had to shift the focus from Sookie. FF gives us the opportunity to take the great parts of TB and rethink them from Sookie's perspective... and also to fix the bits that we Team Eric folks would like fixed of course!
"PS": I started writing the EPOV for season 5 but haven't gone any further than episode one... yet. I'm not quite creative enough to do more than reflect on the scaffolding that TB provides in plot and dialogue though so if you want the real deal, read California Kat's "Inner". It's bloody genius! (Kat you know that pun is for you.) It's also like the wonderful fleshed-out-and-non-angsty-more-mature-almost-identical-twin of "Undone" so if you read them together it's like... Team Eric crack.
So I'm organizing a list of some of my faves - although I didn't make it through my whole list of favourite stories so I'm sure there are lots I'm missing.
>> FAVE AUTHORS I very rarely add a 'Favourite Author'. But there are a few authors whose work demanded the honour. I suggest that you read their work, like, yesterday! Seriously. Go! Now!
California Kat* (Back and Forth is a masterpiece of FF. Read it now. The sequel is Come Back to Me and it's almost finished now. Sigh.)
FicLit78* (The best lemons while remaining so true to character it hurts. Eric is rough, raw but we see his vulnerability. Amazing! Angst is off the charts in 'Five, As Agreed Upon'. Both 'Five' and 'Pretty Kitty' are just too good for words!)
Wylis* (Her rewrite of the ending of Season 4 was too die for. I can't recommend it highly enough! I recently devoured "She's Not There" and it's highly recommended!
Honeypop* (I haven't laughed so hard as I did during Fangtasia Stories. My cheeks ached and tears rolled down my cheeks and my stomach cramped. Seriously. Again and again and again. The funniest story EVER while also remaining so true to those two characters that we love so much.)
DeedeeINFJ* (Her classic rewrite 'Eric' is on most devoted readers' list of faves. It's great and led me to read the SMV books.)
MissyDee: LEMONY good angsty fun.
SOME STORIES SORTED BY SEASON:
>>SEASON 5 AND OTHER NEW MISC STORIES:
Inner* by CaliforniaKat.
Where do I start? She really is fixing TB. I gave her a challenge and she's filling in a beautiful world around the plot and dialogue of TB. She's magic and so is the story. MUST READ.
I can't recommend this story enough. I honestly don't know how it slipped through my radar!! MUST READ. She picks up on the early season 4 issue of Sookie's house where the house becomes a bargaining chip for Eric ... I laughed so hard and my stomach dropped and I got butterflies... and Sookie and Eric are just as feisty but they're starting to be honest ... and not everything works out right away. Just trust me: read it now!
What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?* by Princess Brigant
Another season 5 story but this one takes a very different direction and doesn't stick with the plot -- although sometimes it's a bit ooc, there are some wonderful details and it is nice to see where the plot could have gone.
"She's Not There" by Wylis. As I've said before, I am not the biggest fan of vamp-Sookie fics, but this one is snagged me! It's a SMV fic with Sookie as a vampire but with a completely refreshing plot twist and great character development too. Angst and an eventual HEA. My favourite!
"To Be His" by crazyvildru. A version of season 6.
"A Vampire's Guide to the Galaxy"
Based on both SMV and TB but set in a future when Sookie's with Eric although he had to turn her to save her life. I usually stay away from vamp-Sookie but the premise of this story is a fun time-travel version which adds to the concept. It's well written and funny with a bad-ass Eric and Godric ca. 1500.
"A sky Fae and a Viking Vampire" by Cante. Sookie's the powerful fairy princess, Eric's the king used to getting what he wants. Godric's still alive. The writing is a bit stilted at times but it's angsty goodness!
>> SEASON FOUR/FIVE
Back and Forth*
A MUST READ. Heck, it's a must RE-read too! Sookie breaks her ties with both Bill and Eric and has to make 'the' choice. Perfect fusion of the books and show - with wiser and stronger Sookie and Eric. Amazingly careful and sensitive writing with many, MANY moments of genius. Great writing of Lala, Jesus, Pam and others. This is driven by character development and psychological 'drama' rather than gratuitous plot twists and shock and awe 'action'.by CaliforniaKat.
"The Choice" *
A FAN-FREAKING-TABULOUS rewriting of the end of season 4. Such a great response to the mess AB has created. Loved it! Don't miss the sequel either!
"Five, As Agreed Upon" *
After Eric confronts Sookie at 'her' house at the beginning of season 4. Sexual tension and angst is off the charts!! Rereadable to the extreme! AMAZING!!
A Thousand Bloody Moons*
Set after season 4... but 6 years later. Great writing and dialogue.
"Wild Heart, Eternal Light"*
"The Seven Seas of Rhye" *
"Dangerous Decisions" *
Sookie sends Eric away after the finale and deals with the consequences. Angry Eric = angsty goodness.
Season 5 version. Short?
an intriguing one shot following season 4 finale.
The Blood Bond*
Redo of season 4 blood bond with Sookie
Set roughly after book 5 I think. Totally TTC.
Set when Sookie returns from Faery. Some great Eric lines here and some snappy Sookie lines too. Sookie is 'needed' by both Eric and Bill for a new reason. A pleasure to read. Complete.
Set after the fourth SMV book. By Confetti.
>> SEASON FOUR
Masters of the Scene *
Strong plot and Sookie POV mostly makes this TB story read like the books. A much smarter Sookie returns from Faery. Someone surprising gets hit with the amnesia spell. Sookie has to look after Eric for a different reason. Although she bonds with Eric right away she doesn't hop into the sack with the Viking. A couple of nice little lemons and a good dose of angst are snuck in amongst the plot too.
Tying a Knot* Refreshingly written - clean and simple. Sookie returns from Faery, Eric asks more nicely, Sookie says yes. Fabulous dialogue and a great mix of the show and books! Highly recommended.
The Living Dead*
An incredibly well written and carefully crafted re-conception of the 4th SMV book. Really well done. Sookie is - for better or worse - just as stubborn and clueless about Eric as she is in the books. Sigh. But it's a great story.
By June Smith.
Under Your Spell*
Just one chapter dealing with the aftermath of the season 3 finale.
Begins with Sookie's return in 4.1.
Follows some of the major points of season 4 with a stronger Sookie. Lots of lovely tension between our hero and heroine. Well written and ttc! by Bambieyes
Rhonda Night. Starts after season 3 finale. Sookie doesn't go to Faery though.
Season 4 filler*
by wickywyld. A nice little fic set after season 3 where it takes awhile to get them together and Eric has an unfortunate run in with Hallow. Unfinished but doesn't stop in the worst place at least.
>> SEASON THREE*Binding Truth*
Starts with Sookie asking Eric for the money from Dallas. Eric is quite out of character but it is eventually revealed why. By Adhara Tamar.
Follows up from when Bill leaves - some sudden lemons, then an unexpected poignant end.
Everything's Not Lost*
Starts up around the end of season 2 with Sookie coming to see Bill's scheming sooner thanks to a new twist.
This is Only the Beginning*
After the end of season 3. Eric and Sookie coming together - though Eric remains more harsh and cold than usual, it makes for an interesting read. Three chapters.
An End has a Start *
Starts right after the season 2 finale with Sookie searching for Bill.by moxiemo.
Starts with their kiss in Eric's office.
"If I meet the True Death"*
Starts off rewriting the kiss in Eric's office in Season 3.
Absolutely Nothing Corrected *
Starts from Eric's daydream of Sookie - but it's not a dream. With an interesting twist.
Belong to You*
Set from about the middle of the season. Sookie helps Eric fix everything.
Close Enough *
Starts after Eric and Sookie bury the werewolf but Sookie never ends up going to Mississippi. Unfinished.
Blood in the Air *
by True Ink...
What the Fae*
SMV Sookie and TB Sookie swap storylines at the point where TB Eric locks TBSookie up in his dungeon after 'the' kiss and SMV Sookie is about to get staked. Clever. Sadly it remains unfinished.
A Deadly Future*
Set in the SMV universe after Sookie is attacked in the trunk by Bill. EPOV and SPOV. Some really good writing TTC. VikingVampireLover
Starts from SMV book 2 during the orgy and Callisto tries to bring Sookie and Eric 'together' to realize their attraction in a totally new way!
Home is in your Arms*
A pretty good story that doesn't fall into the E/S/G traps of most fics that let Godric live but adds a new character for him as a love interest. By AshleySue. Complete
Starts from 2x09. EPOV. Unfinished.
True Colors *
Starts around 2x08.
You Deserve Much Better *
A nice little post-2x09 story.
Blood and Love*
Meet the Moon*
sometime after season 2 / book 2? by SuperGeek7190
Sookie talks Godric off the roof. Some great angsty Eric and a wonderful relationship between Sookie and Godric - plus a bit of S/E/G. By sleepy lotus
All Tomorrow's Parties*
Starts roughly after book 2/season 1. Slightly ooc as it's her first ff story but well written. By makesmyheadspin.
>> SEASON ONE / BOOK ONE
Bought and Paid for* An nice little alternate story set in pre-civil war period.
Move Like you Want it *
A fan-tabulous True Blood rewrite from the beginning of season 1. Sookie calls Bill out as a douche from the get-go. She's much smarter in this fic. Eric comes along in chapter 3 and that's when things really get going! Eric's not sappy and there is lots of EPOV too which is always a bonus!
"The" EPOV classic. The books told from the Viking perspective.
by Deedee INFJ.
Bored to Death *
Re-readable! Amazingly perfect EPOV with all the snappy inner dialogue you could wish for and plenty of struggling with feelings as they (slowly) emerge!! A fabulously smart, cheeky, saucy Sookie. Great writing of Gran and Pam. Love it love it love it! Complete.
Never Let Me Go*
Sookie meets Godric and Eric when she goes to Fangtasia with Dawn.
The Sheriff and the Viking*
Bill's Sheriff and Eric's not...by GoddessD.
A Debt to a Viking *
Slightly different universe where Eric -- ever the bad boy -- runs a gambling ring in the basement of Fangtasia and Jason goes into debt. When Sookie gets involved Eric gets hooked, of course. Lots of bad boy EPOV - though he's struggling with the 'emo' self too. by Goddess D.
A Smarter Sookie *
Whole new timeline. Lots of EPOV. Funny Pam. Saucy Sookie and she's got a bit more wherewithal. Gran and Sookie chez Northman. And, oh yeah, great lemons. by Sophie Myst.
Dead and Alive *
Starts before the great revelation, generally follows the timeline of the stories. Unfinished. by vighnngaigh.
Sookie's Choice *
Rewrite from after Eric and Sookie meet at Fangtasia with Eric determined to court Sookie.
by Bathsheba Rocks.
Eric is King of Louisiana and sends Bill on a reconnaissance mission about a telepath, but there's an even bigger twist too. And then another one.
Topsy Turvy *
Sookie's the vamp and Eric's the telepath.
Sookie meets Eric first but in a different way...
by JR Watson.
by Morgaine Swann
Dead and Blonde*
A story where Eric was sent to 'aquire' Sookie by the Queen but it's all above board. Complete. by Math Princess.
A beautifully written story set from around the beginning of the books but not following their plotlines closely. This is a completely new premise for how Sookie and Eric meet. Very true to character through some extreme plot twists that I usually don't go for but worked really well here!
By JR Watson.
Are You The Rabbit?*
Starts around book 1 - but an entirely different storyline. It's a great Eric Sookie story that doesn't have them hop right into bed.
Single and Defective *
Bill is simply not there. Follows the books and Sookie is remarkably ttc, resisting Eric - but still playful! A great one.
A pretty good redo from the beginning. Unfinished.
A much more hardened Sookie and also one that is more damaged. She maybe seem out of character but really just a new take on Sookie that includes very well written dialogue and excellent characterization of both she AND Eric. Some stellar writing of Lala too. Still being updated.
A whole new world*
A simple retelling of the plot from season 1 where Sookie meets Eric first. It is a familiar take but what is interesting in this story is how it kind of inverts the Bill-Eric-Sookie triangle so that in several instances, Bill's actions parallel related actions that Eric did in True Blood. A few grammar errors but worth a read. By xsarahx101. Hasn't been updated for awhile.
