I Solemnly Swear that I Am Up to No Good
Well hello; dawnoftheceruleansky here (formerly firelily1228)
12/17/13 Wow, it's been over a year since I last updated my profile. Tis been a long time and I have to say, this past year's been crazy. Everything happened at once and nothing will ever be the same.
10/01/12 AKA the last update. This was about the time things began to change and I sorta stopped writing fanfiction. It was also about the time I started working on this exciting new project, more of a work in progress. Basically, I'm in the process of writing a book. But at the beginning of this year, I halted production on that because it was taking up mental space that need freeing. Plus, it was stalling and rather than force the ideas to come, I put the book down for a while.
Until about a few days ago when I wrote my first scene for this book in a LONG time. And I gotta say, it was pretty darn exciting, the feel of the keys beneath my fingertips. It was effortless. I didn't even realize it was happening until I was done. Until the thought was written-typed- out. Before then I was genuinely afraid that I had lost my ability to write since I hadn't written in so long. But it turns out that all I needed was a good book to read and time. Lots of time. Time to think, time to read, time to imagine.
And there it was, staring right at me. I like to think that I somehow knew writing would come back to me when I was ready.
Pessimistically, I'm waiting for the writer's block to return and tell me that my book's not good enough or will never even become completed. Realistically, I know this will happen, but I'm optimistically hoping I'll remember to take a break, breathe, and let the words come on their own.
But enough about that since this is a site for fanfiction and not original fiction after all ;) I like to think that in some odd way I'd return to my writing roots and take on fanfictional writing once more, but I have a feeling I won't. I do love coming back here and seeing the messages and the followers asking if I'll continue the stories I've started (and deep down knew I wouldn't finish). I do feel a certain amount of dedication toward my few, yet wonderful followers to continue on, but alas, like the ideas for my unnamed book, I cannont force them toward completion. If anyone wants to pick one and continue with their own story I'd love that :) At one time I would have loved to collaborate with someone on any story, not just my own, but I have decided to dedicate myself wholly to my book (and the occasional drabble).
So in the end, I thank each and every person that reviewed, followed, and private messaged me about anything and everything. While this doesn't mean that I'm leaving the site forever, I just won't be publishing fanfiction. I will return to message and read and comment to my heart's content. This is where it began and there will always be a certain amount of attachment to FF.Net :)
I found this really great quote by N. Scott Momaday that makes total sense about writing: "I simply kept my goal in mind and persisted. Perseverance is a large part of writing."
Other great quotes:
“Where there is no Struggle, there is no Strength.”
"What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger."
Some people are like slinkies...they're really good for nothing...but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs!
Everything here is edible. Even I'm edible, but that is called cannibalism, my dear children, and is frowned upon in most societies.
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
Me I'm dishonest, and you can always trust a dishonest man to be dishonest, honestly, it's the honest ones you have to watch out for because you never know when they're going to do something incredibly stupid. Captain Jack Sparrow
I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by. Jack Sparrow
I'm still in the process of writing my X-Men Evo fic. I've posted a poll asking who would like to see which fic idea get finished merely out of curiousity. But for the record, I'm probably not going to finish either just because I hardly have time for it now due to various reasons. I apologize :(
But I really do hope to finish part of the X-Men Evo. Hopefully I don't lose interest the way I did with the Avatar one. I think I'll be less likely to because with Evo there's so many directions one could go about writing a fic, and I've already come up with the plot and subplot as well as many, many plot bunnies I need to congragate.
So, yeah...that's it...You're dismissed. Thank you :)
Current Story: I have something in mind, but I don't to put it out there just yet; not until I come up with a sound plot for it. I will give you a hint, though...It's an X-Men Evolution fic :D I've drafted many plot bunnies that pop into my head every now and then. The plan is to, hopefully, bring them all together under one central plot and tie in (an)other subplot(s). I'm open to suggestions even though I do have a plot in mind.
Hiatus/ dead?: What is my Destiny Book 1 (3 part/ book series)
As of now, this story is in a weird limbo state where I don't want to give it up, yet I really don't want to work on it anymore...It's weird, like I said...Very sad :(
"What is my Destiny?” is the story of an OC (the main character's name has been changed) and how their story unfolds during the war, how they affect the other characters, and the outcome of the war. (I don't want to drastically change anything. I plan on it sticking as close to canon as possible, highlighting issues that might have flown under the radar.
Dead: that Hunger Games fic...can't remember the name...
I apologize to anyone who faved, alerted, etc. or came up with an OC for me to use. When the story was taken off by FFNet I said, "To heck with it!" and didn't bother reposting because I knew I had lost interest in it.
Reviews are appreciated.

Excerpt from the second installment of 'What is my Destiny? Book 2" Enjoy :)
A loud crack echoed in a nearby alley. She stopped dead in her tracks. Her heart was pounding so hard she thought she was going to be sick, or maybe it was just her nerves.
She pulled her helmet up and saw a black object swishing in the air. And then it growled; her eyes met a pair of cold orbs. Its teeth were bare and dripping of saliva and blood. A ravaged carcass lied beneath its feet.
Before she knew it the beast was on top of her, breath reeking of dead animal. Her first instinct was a swift kick to its stomach. It lunged again but this time she wasn’t the only thing it landed on. It screamed in pain as she twisted the dagger into its chest, but it wouldn’t die. She pushed on the knife trying to keep the monster at bay. The pigmy puma craned its neck closer and closer, focusing its attention on her neck. It was a mere inches away; blood splattered on her cheek, her hand was wet and warm, her grasp on the hilt slipping. At any moment the puma would use the last bit of its energy to maul her; a slow painful death.

Hunger Games Quotes:
Katniss- “Fire is catching! And if we burn, you burn with us!”
“Well, don't expect us to be too impressed. We just saw Finnick Odair in his underwear.”
“The mayor finishes the dreary Treaty of Treason and motions for Peeta and me to shake hands. His are as solid and warm as those loaves of bread. Peeta looks me right in the eye and gives my hand what I think is meant to be a reassuring squeeze. Maybe it's just a nervous spasm. We turn back the crowd as the anthem of Panem plays. Oh well, I think. There will be twenty-four of us. Odds are someone else will kill him before I do. Of course, the odds have not been very dependable of late.”
Katniss: I’m coming back into focus when Caesar asks him if he has a girlfriend back home.
“My spirit. This is a new thought. I’m not sure exactly what it means, but it suggests I’m a fighter. In a sort of brave way. It’s not as if I’m never friendly. Okay, maybe I don’t go around loving everybody I meet, maybe my smiles are hard to come by, but I do care for some people.”
May the Odds be Ever in Your Favor
Yeah I have so many! I guess I'll have a maximum of one per character...yeah right.
Ah my favorite set of quotes that ended "The Ember Island Players" and subsequently forshadowed how "The Last Airbender" was and did play out...
Zuko- "That...wasn't a good play."
Aang- "I'll say."
Katara- "No kidding."
Toph- "You said it."
Sokka- "But the effects were decent."
...Scary accurate, I know...
Zuko- "You rise with the moon, I rise with the sun."
Zuko- "All I wanted was for you to love me, to accept me. I thought it was my honor that I wanted, but really, I was trying to please you. You, my father, who banished me just for talking out of turn! My father who challenged me, a thirteen year-old boy, to an Agni Kai! How can you possibly justify a duel with a child?"
Katara- "No. No way am I apologizing to a sour old man like you! I'll be outside if you're man enough to fight me."
Katara- "I will never ever turn my back on people who need me!"
Sokka- "Smoochie, smoochie. Someone's in love." (fish slaps him)
Sokka- "Great, Aang. Maybe instead of saving the world, you can go into the jewelry making business."
Sokka- "It's a giant mushroom. Maybe it's friendly!"
Toph- "There it is!"(Gaang looks, then frowns)"That's what it'll sound like when one of you spots it."(Waves hand in front of face)
Toph- "You can go ahead and let me drown now."
Toph- "I'm beginning to wonder who's really the blind one around here!"
Toph- "I’m going with Zuko!" (Silent pause as the Gaang stares) "What? Everyone else went on a life changing field trip with Zuko. Now it’s my turn."
Aunt Wu- "Your destiny. This is incredible! You will be involved in a great battle. An awesome conflict between the forces of good and evil. A battle whose outcome will determine the fate of the whole world!"
Aang- "Yeah, yeah, I knew that already, but did it say anything about a girl?"
Aunt Wu- "A girl? You want to know about love?" (pauses for answer) "I'm sorry. But I didn't see anything... (Aang looks down at his lap, sad.) Oh, look I've missed something. Right here. It says 'Trust your heart, and you will be with the one you love.'"
Mai- "You're so colorful it's making me nauseous!"
Azula- "That's a sharp outfit, Chan. Careful, you could puncture the hull of an empire-class Fire Nation battle ship, leaving thousands to drown at sea... because (points), it's so sharp."
Azula- "I think your friend just said that genius. And since you can't see, I should tell you I'm rolling my eyes."
Ozai- "Nooo! My royal parts are showing!" (...technically he never did say that...)
Ursa- "Remember this Zuko: No matter how things may seem to change, never forget who you are."

If you could read that put it in your profile.
Want to put your OC to the test? Check out the link on Princess Kitty 1's profile for a Mary Sue/ Gary Stu test. It's crazy accurate and will definately set you straight. It has flaws just like an other test so don't judge too harshly, but I recommend taking it's advise and unbias opinon. As long as you answer honestly it will give an honest result.
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeoning’s of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
