Introducing the 80's Power Ballad Song Prompt Contest
Thank you all so much for entering and taking the time to write such wonderful stories for this contest. It was not easy choosing favorites for anyone. The votes were very close all the way to the end, but thankfully we were able to determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for public vote and judges scores. You all did an amazing job on your stories and I hope a few of them may be continued now that the contest is over. I can't wait to read more.
Thank you katiecav, mcgt, astonmartin823, and revelrae for being judges and scoring each story individually.
Thank youfor making beautiful banners for the winners in such a short time. They all look amazing. Please credit for your winning banners.

We've all heard the ever popular and sometimes cheesy power ballads from the 80's, right? The ones with a sappy love story, or sad heartbreak story told from our favorite, big haired and make-up wearing rockers.
Well this contest is all about those famous power ballads we all love to secretly indulge in. From REO Speedwagon, Journey, Foreigner, Cinderella, Twisted Sister, KISS, and even Bon Jovi, if you're an eighties kid you've heard them all.
Choose your favorite 80's power ballad and use it as your story prompt. Should be easy, right? Most of those songs tell the story themselves. All you need to do is give it a twilight twist.
We're open to anything. If you want it to be a sappy love story, go for it. If you want it to be full of angst, by all means do it. If you want to make it the cheesiest and funniest story ever, we want it. You can even set it in the 80's and give Edward the big hair and the guitar. But keep in mind we are not expecting this to be an 80's themed contest just a story based on a song from the 80's. You can have it set in any year or place.
The only things we ask is that it be an 80's power ballad, no late 70's or early 90's songs. If you aren't sure if the song you want to use fits the criteria or you need some help choosing a song, I've compiled a large list of songs on my blog with a youtube link attached to each one if you want a refresher or just some help. If there is a song you want to use that you don't see on the list, please feel free to email or even tweet us to find out if it will work. Obviously there were quite a few of them and in no way can I list them all. This list is rather large as is and will take some time to go through, but I wanted to keep it open to any 80's power ballad you want to use.
The story must be based on the song, not necessarily the song just in the story (you know, no Edward as the rocker and he's singing the song and that's it). If you want the main character to be the singer and sing the song within the story that's perfectly fine, hell, you can even put Bella on top of the car dancing around. The story just needs to fit the theme of the song and warrant their actions.
--Must be based on an 80's power ballad
--Must be between 2,000 and 20,000 words (however I personally don't care for word limits in any form so if you go over I'm not going to care. Just do your best to stay within the limits)
--Must be a new one-shot, no previously posted stories
--This is an anonymous contest so please don't tell people which story is yours. Feel free to pimp out the contest on your ffn, twitter, facebook, livejournal, tumblr, or any other place you want, just please do not tell anyone what story you wrote or even what song you chose for your prompt. If we find out you will be disqualified.
--Collaborations are welcome, just be sure to let us know both writer's pen names.
--Any paring is allowed (including slash)
--No pedophilia, bestiality, rape, cutting, or anything else creepy (vampires and werewolves are always the exception)
--Please get your stories Beta'd...if you don't have someone available to beta for you I suggest sending the story to Project Team Beta:. PTB asks that authors submit a Story Application at least three weeks before the deadline, and once accepted, to send in your story at least 1.5–2 weeks before the deadline.
You can also check out Sparkly Red Pen:which just started taking story submissions for beta services as well.
Please remember that this does take time to get done so please if you use either of these services do it well in advance. There is plenty of time to get your stories done and beta'd so don't wait until the last minute. If for any reason you are still having trouble finding a beta please contact earthprincess4 for advice and help on who to contact.
--Limit of three entries per individual or collaboration
