About the Author
By Hanna Lolipop
Marie Ya'el grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina with her father and three sisters. She has moved several times during her childhood and teenage years. She grew up in a close-knit family and has had her share of adventures growing up. Along the way she found a love for exploring and learning new things.
She has been writing fiction stories since she was a little girl. (Mostly in her diary) At the tender age of nine she found a new love, Fanfiction. She spent years simply reading fanfiction before she would gather her courage to puplish her first fan fiction poem on June 27, 2011. Since then she has written twenty-eight different fanfiction stories and three supernatural fiction stories.
For her writing is her one true love.
Exploring new genres and learning about different cultures through her writing research has been a blast. Although a great writer, Marie admits to her faults at not being the best when it comes to grammar. However she stated the following in our interview:
"I have so many ideas that I try my hardest to give something out of the box to my readers. But my mind is thinking so much that when I'm writing I get all jumbled up. Oh and spell check is my best friend!!"
As a child Marie grew up watching and reading many supernatural stories. Her fascination with another side of life where magic dwelled and supernatural creatures ran rampant.
"It seemed only natural to delve deeper into this vast world of lore and add my little piece to it." - Marie
As I sat down with her at the cafe to talk she had the following to say about her personal experience when she posted her first story on the website Fanfiction.net:
"Well first thing you should know is...I was nervous! I mean the first time I posted my poem Saving Myself on Fanfiction.net all I could think was: What if they don't like it? What if I get bad reviews? Then my little sister came in and whacked me in the head for being loud in the middle of the night. I don't know why, but that hit must have knocked something loose, because I posted the story soon after. The poem wasn't as popular as some of my latest stories, but I was happy with it. In fact I got a total of five reviews for it and today I might cry if I just had five reviews on a story. However, I took those five reviews as encouragement to keep on going and I haven't stopped since. In my mind if my stories can bring even one person some entertainment and joy then that is success in my book. As I grow older I hope to improve my writing and continue to bring stories of magic, shifters, paranormal creatures, and love to others."
When asking if she would be posting anything new, Marie gushed about her new fanfiction series After the Crash: An Alpha Female, her own spin-off to Maddy Barone's After the Crash Series.
Naturally some fans wonder about her other stories, some of which are still incomplete.
Marie: "Well I won't say it's not moving along...yeah...I'm just lost right now. Of course I'll try to post a new chapter of Twilight Priestess this week, but between work, college, and my almost non-existent love life it's hard to write sometimes."
So we hope that Marie will post a new chapter, until then fingers crossed. I asked Marie if she had anything else to say and she ended our interview with this.
"Uhh...follow me on Facebook and IG."
Some of her favorite anime/mangas are: Inuyasha, Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho, Claymore, Bleach, Vampire Knight, Sex Pistols/Love Pistols, and Ristorante Paridiso.
