Author has written 33 stories for Dragon Age, and Neverwinter Nights.
I have written for my own private enjoyment ever since I was a child. When I came across this fanfiction site, I thought to myself, "Dare I"?
I certainly do.
I am too old to be a fangirl, but that never stopped me before. English is not my first language, but I teach it for a living.
When I am not working I do crafts with my son, design jewellery and do needlework. There are books to be found everywhere in my home and I cannot imagine myself not writing, reading or playing.
Life is glorious when in any given day I have met a new friend, read a new book or laughed with my kid.
Thank God, life is glorious every day.
We were talking with my friend Amaya Redfern about how unfair it is that some very talented authors get very little recognition on their work the other day . And not only that; sometimes reviews are just a short "very nice' while your soul is just hungering for some constructive criticism (not that the other kind isn't appreciated, of course, any kind of review is grand)
If you are one of these authors, that want to get more readers to your work, or want real, creative feedback that will let you improve join us at the Authors Exchange forum Amaya Redfern has created. The concept is simple: you read and review an author's work and in exchange they review yours. It is also a place to chat and get help for any writing problem that might arise.
So join us in the shadows, where we stand vigilant.
The forum is still being developed, by with your help I am sure it will blossom.
A note to all my readers:
As you might know I am in the habit of gifting my reviewers with present one-shots whenever one of my stories gets 100 reviews. It is something I have always enjoyed and the least I can do for the people that take the time to read and review.
These one-shots take a lot out of my time, with the result that my updates fall behind...Plus, it has recently come to my attention, that there are people who lurk around, wait until a story reaches x99 reviews and then review in hopes of getting a present. That is fine, but there are people that have been following my job for years, and have offered thoughtful, insightful reviews (or criticism) to my work. It is not fair that they have not gotten a present yet, so I have decided that I will continue to give out present fics ( I had thought of stopping completely) but under these conditions:
a. The reviewer that hits that special number will have to be someone who has reviewed before. Not someone that just stumbled upon the story. I am sorry, but it is extremely unfair that long time reviewers have not gotten a present yet. So if you just hit the xth review and you are a new reviewer, I will gift the fic to the next one, who also happens to be a long time reader. If you have recently changed your name, and I don't realise who you are, send me a PM, and we'll sort the whole thing out.
b. I have to LIKE the prompt. It goes without saying. If I do not like the idea, I cannot write it, and that's that. I will work with the prompter to get something that appeals to me, but if for example you ask me to write a Fenris/Isabela story, I might not be able to do it. Or I might do it, but it will probably suck.
c. It has to be a prompt. Not "write me a Fenris/Hawke". Yes, I will, but what is it that you want them to do?
d. If you don't like it, please tell me while it is being written. I usually send snippets as I write, so you get plenty of chances to contribute to how the story is written. These things take time, and I never again want to spend days of my life for a fic that the owner doesn't even like enough to review afterwards. It's like going shopping for days on end to find the perfect gift, and the recipient doesn't like it in the end. Total disappointment.
d. PLEASE BE PATIENT. My muse is fickle, and sometimes I might put something aside for a while and start working on it later on a whim. Please be patient. I have a life, a job, a family. Send me a PM to remind me that I had promise you something if I take too long (because I am a scatterbrain) but please do not bug me all the time. It will get done. Eventually.
Thank you for listening to my rant, and I am sorry if any of you gets displeased. But I had to set some rules.
PS: Id you have a prompt you really want to see written, you don't have to earn it. Send it to me , and if I like it I might do it. Especially if you are a long time reader. There are some of you out there that I am dying to write something for.
