Avoiding pain is only natural, but it works too well, gets stronger and stronger until it's all you know how to do. A bunch of times that people tried to help Marc Spector, and a bunch of times they failed. (Plus one that went kind of okay.) Alternatively, a bunch of times Marc treaded water and one time he finally swam. (Really accurate therapy.)

Fourteen-year-old Marc Spector just got suspended from school for fighting. Again. But it's different now, because he's not just losing his temper, he thinks he might be losing his mind. Marc has to deal with a disappointed father, a reasonably patient neighbor, and a therapist. The latter tries to diagnose what's going on in his head. Intentionally realistic.

Set approximately 5-7 years before S1. Klaus calls Luther from jail. "I wouldn't bother you if I could get someone else, but alas, it's just us brothers. The two German ones. The German brotherhood. No, wait, don't call it that. That sounds Nazi-ish. Let's stick with just brothers."

Daniel Sousa, along with three other agents, investigates the Ward family home in 1996. He knows that time is fragile, that any drastic actions could permanently alter history. Drastic actions are getting very tempting.
