A decade of reading fanfiction, waning in seasons and genres. I believe my first fandom was Sailor Moon. Honestly. I'm beyond baffled and confused and concerned about my mental well-being. All that being said, I just can't get away from it. No matter how many great Classics I read, no matter how many times I delve into the philosophical realm, I cannot seem to grow out of being a fangirl. *headdesk*
There is just something to be said. It has a purpose*. And while fanfiction.net (in my humble opinion) is stubbornly dying a myspace death, there are some truly fantastic finds here. Which is why I'm back... though I don't believe I ever truly left. That and I can't seem to google a way to delete this account. So I'm keeping it. Take that Universe.
There is a limit to any piece of work (the exception being the Bible). Personally, I believe fanfiction authors exist to tell the untold stories. There is no limit to the human imagination- many times it is truly horrific in terms of editing and story-telling, however there a select few able to find the heartbeat of it all... and for that, I am incredibly grateful.
