Author has written 6 stories for Criminal Minds.
Update (7/18/14): I'm trying this Twitter thing, let's talk plot bunnies, prompts, fandoms and general fun, find me
"...But hail thou Goddess, sage and holy, Hail divinest Melancholy whose saintly visage is too bright to hit the sense of human sight; and therefore to our weaker view, O'er laid with black, staid Wisdoms hue...these pleasures Melancholy give and I with thee will choose to live." - John Milton's Il Penseroso
Because in much wisdom there is much grief, and increasing knowledge results in increasing pain." - Ecclesiastes 1:18
"All who wander are not lost." - J.R.R. Tolkien
"And as we wind on down the road, our shadows taller than our soul, there walks a lady we all know, who shines white light and wants to show, how everything still turns to gold, and if you listen very hard, the tune will come to you at last, when all is one and one is all, to be a rock and not to roll." - Stairway to Heaven
"We have thoughts, but thoughts are fluid. Then we assign a word to a thought and we're stuck with that word for that thought. So be careful with words. I like to think, yeah, the same words that hurt can heal. It's a matter of how you pick them. There are no bad words just bad thoughts and bad intentions." - George Carlin
The 'about me' stuff:
I'm a California girl born and raised. I love the Beach Boys song but Katy Perry's song of the same title drives me up the wall. I love cold weather and find that consistently hot weather leaves me with seasonal affective disorder (SAD), which means I am most likely to be indoors writing when it's 95F outside - though I suppose that would change if I had a pool - and outside playing when its 55F and windy.
The best city I've ever been to is San Francisco, CA. I lived there for five years and being away from it...well, I now know what the man meant when he sang, "I left my heart in San Francisco." Train's "Save Me, San Francisco" has kind of become my anthem since I'm stuck in a small town whose idea of musical variety is country AND western and tolerance is an underground and totally transgressive idea.
I'm liberal/progressive and very vocal about it in the right settings. I self-identify as queer but for survival reasons I could pass for an any-woman in Smalltown, USA...well, until I start talking, I suppose. When I was younger, I enjoyed getting into political fights with just about anyone but my edge has dulled with age - unless provoked. I enjoy a good debate especially if the person can hold the opposing point with the conviction that it deserves - even if they aren't believers themselves.
I'm on sabbatical from a post-grad program so I welcome conversation partners that aren't afraid to bat around whacky and pseudo-intellectual ideas. I don't see much of that kind of thing these days.
About my writing:
I've been telling stories and writing poetry for as long as I can remember. I love making people laugh and really love creeping them out too. My favorite kinds of stories are the ones that make your stomach flip at the end. I love a good plot twist!
I started watching Criminal Minds after my mom called me at university and told me about this great program with a girl that reminded her so much of me. It took several tries but I finally got into the show. And as sweet as my mother is for saying so, my fashion sense and wit are nowhere near Ms. Penelope Garcia.
I enjoy working pieces of my own random knowledge, experience, and studies into my writing which is useful when writing for Reid.
My writing, so far, has leaned sharply towards the darker/kinkier aspects of life and I'm okay with that - I hope you are too. I am always open to new ideas, plot bunnies, and suggestions. If you'd like to see something and don't want to write it yourself, lemme know and I'll probably be only to happy to oblige.
I have yet to write het fic for CM but I am not opposed to it. Rossi/Prentiss or Prentiss/Hotch seem to make the most sense in that regard.
Back in the day, I wrote BSB fan fiction for my friends and cousin but I never published it online 'cause frankly, it was just personalized smut. I've written a few novella-length original works but have yet to share them with anyone outside of a creative writing class.
I began writing fan fiction again to get up the nerve to share my work and to get back into the habit of writing regularly. It is so nice to be able sit down and write something that isn't in APA or MLA format. Even though there have been times where I've been tempted to footnote a source - I fought the urge.
A random smattering of music I enjoy:
Opera (Donizetti or Strauss being the current faves) - I am of the opinion that more people in their 20s (which I am) would adore opera if it was more accessible and people who liked it weren't so damn snobbish when sharing their love for it. There is really nothing better than sitting down, passing the peace pipe around, and listening to a beautiful waltz by Strauss or some Maria Callas. Then again that's just me.
1950's & 60's Pop: Mamas & Papas, Simon & Garfunkel, Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, Big Bopper (Chantilly Lace never fails to make me smile), Leslie Gore, The Animals, The Zombies, The Turtles, The Beatles, the Byrds, the Beach Boys...just to name a few.
Rock: Robert Plant (I've been lucky enough to see him live twice and it seriously made my life), Led Zeppelin, The Who, the Beatles (yes, twice), Cream, Eric Clapton, the Yardbirds, Jeff Beck, Janis Joplin, Elvis Costello, John Prine, the Doors, Los Lobos, Journey, Grateful Dead, Garcia/Grisman and a lot of others that left this world before I could come to appreciate them.
Current Music: Rihanna, Matchbox Twenty, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Nickelback (yes, there I said it), Green Day, Backstreet Boys, Britney, Lady Gaga, Christina, Madonna, Kelly Clarkson, CeeLo, and Pink...yeah pretty much anything Top 40..I've even been known to rock out to the occasional Miley. Ya gotta have some junk food in with the protein.
Theatre/Musicals: RENT, Jekyll & Hyde, Reefer Madness: The Musical!, Rocky Horror, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Evita, Phantom of the Opera, Chicago and more...
Television (for the last seven years I've been without one so I'm catching up on my TV):
Guilty pleasures: America's Next Top Model, The Bachelor(ette), Jersey Shore, and Real Housewives of wherever they're filming it this season.
What I couldn't live without: Criminal Minds, Mad Men, Mentalist, Blue Bloods, CSI, CSI:NY, Glee, Jon Stewart, Colbert Report, and South Park.
Favorite Books & Authors:
Stephen King: On Writing, Hearts in Atlantis, Lisey's Story, Apt Pupil, The Body (Stand By Me), Shawshank Redemption. I try to avoid horror novels when I can.
Marcos Villatoro: Holy Spirit of My Uncles Cojones and the Romilla Chacon series. (Great writer and really hot too)
Shakespeare: A Midsummer's Night Dream, Henry V, Richard III, Merry Wives of Windsor, and As You Like It.
Alice Sebold (one of my heros): Lucky, Lovely Bones, and The Almost Moon
Every writer should read Ann Lamott's 'Bird by Bird'
Kazuo Ishiguro's 'Never Let Me Go', Dean Koontz's 'Life Expectancy', Patricia Cornwell's 'Jack the Ripper: Case Closed' and Megan McCafferty's 'Jessica Darling series'...just some random titles.
I love talking to new and different people, so please if you want to chat then let's chat. Random and unexpected friendships are some of the best.
I'd be happy to BETA. I tend to go more for rhythm when I write so do keep that in mind.
Again, I hope you've enjoyed reading what I've put out there and I can't wait to read what you've got.
