Hi to all reading my portfolio for the first time and welcome back to those who are reading this once again!
Things you need to know about Me:
Real name: Jet (Yes, just Jet); However, you can call me A.D.
Occupation: I'm a mainly anime and games story fanfictionist. In real life, just a national serviceman.
Nationality: I'm a dual US/Singapore citizen. I was born in America but my parents are Singaporeans. And for some reason, I have, according to many people, an American accent. Now, after listening to my own voice, I would have to disagree (Till I can get a better microphone). It might also have something to do because I have little experience in differentiating accents in the first place. >.>
What I do:
3D animation -> In Training
Jogging with my father on the defunct train tracks nearby.
Cooking -> I have an expert cook of a sister, but I myself could make a decent rice meal.
Studying -> Always room for improvement
Trying to get myself interested again in Tabletop games via Roll20 but it's a little hard without any experienced gamers to guide me. I remember when I was in 1st to 6th grade, I always took out a pen and notebook and as the teachers were trying to bore us to death, I would begin to create a world, creating the rules, customizing characters and most importantly, pushing forward the stories. I was young then though so it would not be as complex or as in-depth as professional systems, but I could probably say that some of my best friends were bonded to me through this activity and I really appreciated that aspect of it as well. I could even say that creating those table-top games may have been the very origin point of me writing out these stories. When I went into secondary school, though, the social culture was much more different and I regrettably allowed myself to be bent into said culture.
Video-gaming -> List includes: XCOM Enemy Within, Skyrim, Planetside 2, League of Legends, Dota 2, the Total War series, some of the retros like NetHack, Planescape Torment, Darklands and most of all Dwarf Fortress and Aurora 4x. You can probably tell I am a fan of video games that allow you to make your own story and tell your own tales.
(Thing in general) Anime, Manga, Video Games, Books, Cookies, Waffles, Humans, Aliens, Dinosaurs...yeah that sort of thing...
(Words) Zero, Temporal, Indignation, Spatial, Cataclysm. And SPAGEHTIFICATION!
(Person) John "TotalBiscuit" Bain - A charismatic and honest man whom I do not agree with on some issues, but I trust to have his heart in the right place. Love his videos, both his first impressions and arguments on morality and current issues, and he is generally one of the most proactive Youtubers, IMO.
Common Story Themes:
Death - No one is immune to death, even gods and heroes.
Creative work is not a selfish act or a bid for attention on the part of the actor. It’s a gift to the world and every being in it. Don’t cheat us of your contribution. Give us what you’ve got.
Every man dies. Not every man really lives.
It's the game of life. Do I win or do I lose? One day they're gonna shut the game down. I gotta have as much fun and go around the board as many times as I can before it's my turn to leave.
Persona 0: Lost Yourself/ A new set of characters and a new set of Personas. Also old characters and personas make a comeback. Double OCs. Current: Planning Stage.
RWBY: Hunters, Heroes and Humanity. A little foray into this amazing set-piece created by Monty Oum and the Roosterteeth team. Current: 5 chapters. Updated per week on Sunday.
XCOM: Disposable Heroes. A story fusing both Enemy Unknown and UFO, while having a more exploitative Council. Current: 2 chapters.
Qwaser: The Wanderer / A alternate addition to the Seikon Qwaser universe.
Shelved(Ideas that may gather dust until I snag upon in another time/may also be in need for a revamp):
Needless: Saten Alternate / In this version of Needless, Saten doesn't exist but a boy takes his place.
Words that I use which might seem strange to you:
Double OCs: Original and Old Characters. Means both my own dudes and the real dudes work together.
