Author has written 50 stories for Itazura na Kiss, My Little Monster/となりの怪物くん, Fruits Basket, Harry Potter, Star Trek: 2009, and Pride and Prejudice. I am retired at last, after 38 years of working as a librarian (both public and school) so now have the time to do lots of things that have been put off over the years. Our son is finally out of college and making his own living, while our daughter is taking a gap year before beginning graduate school; as Starbucks doesn't pay all the expenses, she still has a hand in our pocketbook. I originally started reading fan fiction because I wanted more Georgette Heyer, and I sure wasn't going to get any from her unless I set up a seance. Then my partner for the last three years of work introduced me to manga and anime, and the amount of stories that I wanted to read increased exponentially. We are 20 years apart in age and joked that we are nerds from different generations. She liked to point out to our high school students that I was part of the fandom that popularized fan fiction, shipping, and cosplay. Yes, she may have met her husband while playing Dungeons and Dragons, but I had a Star Trek wedding! I was also known as the "Cool Mom" after chaperoning my daughter and her friends at anime conventions during middle and high school. As you might suppose, as a librarian I generally prefer books over their media adaptations. I find that a lot is lost in translating the format, generally because of time constraints. Sometimes I feel sorry for those who only experience a story through its movie version. There were so many details and subplots lost in the Harry Potter universe, and please don't get me started on the Percy Jackson movies! Anyway, thinking back, I believe I wrote my first fan fiction in high school. I remember being extremely upset over the ending of a Victoria Holt book and rewrote the last two pages. I may have even left my version in the book when I returned it to the library! As for my writing style, I have been burned too many times by unfinished works. I don't begin posting a story until I have a first draft finished; for that reason I acquired a reputation as a 'fast updater'. I am also an introvert and frequently clumsy in conversation, so I am not big on lengthy author's notes. Sorry if that's what you're looking for, but unless there is some sort of extreme condition, mine tend to be brief and to the point. In addition, I have been blessed recently with certain ‘reviews’ which only deserve the name because that is what the blank field on this website is called. To the anonymous poltroon(s): your attempts to insult not only me but my writings proved mildly entertaining at best and puerile at worst. I leave you but three words: Bless your heart. |
