Twilight: I started out reading fanfiction because of Twilight and that is more or less the only reason I still mention it. I never did like Edward and quickly found out that Jasper was much more interesting ;o) Don't read much of this anymore... one reason could be that I really dislike most of the actors from the films...
Harry Potter: I prefer Slash here! Somehow I never did see HP as a straight guy, so I'll accept almost any pairing as long as it's a male - NOT RW though... Okay, and once in a blue moon HG too, if they're reeeeaally good as I do tend to dislike her, another reason that it's such a rare thing could be that HG stories tend to place HP with GW and I just cannot read that! ...maybe I just had to wait for the entire cast to grow up; reading about kids is just not all that exciting ;o)
Marvel: I reeeaaally like Loki! Once again my favorites are usually slash simply because I don't like any of the human females and the super females are a bit difficult to understand... at least for me!
...other than that I might read LotR/Hobbit and I might try something new, but I never did enjoy Manga so don't even ask...
Vamps or wizards or whatever - I read stories like that for a reason and that means that I do not understand the need to make them All Human!
Not a fan of drabbles - sorry but I want more than teasers!
Sometimes I do write but English is not my first language and you will probably never read anything from me in here - sorry!
And you're welcome to find me on Tumblr - jezebeldk
I understand that no-one knows everything about a country they do not live in, but certain facts just cannot be altered and for some reason Americans are the absolute worst; driving at 16 is a VERY American thing - something that no European understands, guns are not a part of life in Europe (I have never even seen a real gun!). Likewise what the general population in any country eats is actually quite different around the globe; soup & sandwich is very American. It is not common to have your own bathroom! British houses do not have a front or back porch. These things keep turning up in Harry Potter stories and it annoys me! You could at least try...
- - - And there is a Minerva and a Ginevra - there is NO Ginerva...!
The main reasons I stop reading a story are listed below! If you plan to use any of these words and you don't know the difference; please look them up!! Some mistakes are okay - others cringeworthy and sometimes I find mistakes that make me laugh out loud and yes, I am officially done with your story if you don't know the difference between seamen & semen! Oh, and there is a huge difference between being in a roll and on a roll...
Would of/could of/should of... -_- No...!!

Male/Femaleblond= male blonde=female brunet=male or female brunette=female fiancé=male fiancée=female
...and then are all the others - all found reading FanFiction:accept/exept/exerpt - they are not interchangeable... apposed/opposed - apposed is very rarely used; opposed is most likely correct ascent/assent aspect/respect aw/awe bare/bear bazaar/bizarre berth/birth bowel/bowl brake/break breath/breathe bridal/bridle - being carried in 'bridle-style' just seems wrong... cannon/canon casket/gasket cease/seize - cease fire or seize fire... quite different! chased/chaste collage/college cologne/colon - seriously... if you can smell his ’colon’…. run! complement/compliment - receiving one or the other - two very different scenarios... composer/composure concur/conquer consummation/consumption confidant/confident daïs/dias disclosed/dislocated - a disclosed shoulder?! defiantly/definitely - one of the most common mistakes - - and one of the most irritating... down/drown draw/drawer - you draw water or draw a picture... you put your clothes in a drawer dumb/dump eminent/imminent en masse/in mass exaltation/exultation exercise/exorcise - yeah... I laughed sooooo hard! facet/faucet - reading about different faucets is just a bit weird faint/feint fathom/phantom flea/flee flair/flare formally/formerly foul/fowl - a fowl can be foul (does that help?) grain/groan/groin hallow/hollow - especially in HP... come ooon; it's even spelled out for you in one of the titles... hear, hear/here, here - it is never 'here, here'... higher/hire hoarse/horse - trying to explain a sore throat by mentioning that you're horse isn't really helpful hoover/hover - pretty funny when you use the wrong one - and it works both ways! :) image/imagine important/impotent - whether a man is important or impotent, welllll... not quite the same! intense/intents knew/new lo/low - it is never low and behold marrow/morrow massage/message - I read a fic where everybody kept receiving massages, it actually kept me entertained (but I doubt the author wanted me to be...) massive/missive might/mite naval/navel non/none nuance/nuisance pacific/specific - I'm still speachless when I encounter this one... I mean... HOW?! passed/past - this is a mistake you don't make if you speak another language; two different meanings makes it easier to pick the right one patience/patients - most entertaining in Twilight stories as Carlisle is the only doctor I read about... and a doctor losing patients all the time...!? No! peace/piece peak/peek/pique perfect/prefect plated/pleaded/pleated – describing her plated skirt is just… well! poker dot/polka dot - poker is a game... the dots you're talking about are called polka dots! prefer/proffer quacking/quaking - this one is so annoying, it completely threw me and I had to stop reading about the poor quacking damsel in distress... Dies laughing! rain/reign/rein rap/wrap recent/resent refrain/reframe remains/reminds reserve/reverse ring/wring role/roll salvage/savage scent/sent scuffle/shuffle seamen/semen sequence/sequins set foot/step foot - I really hate this one... step foot *grumbles* There is no such thing!! sign/singe/sing slayed/sleighed sole/soul - a sole mate? spitting image/splitting image stable/staple straight/strait threw/through throes/throws - it's always 'in the throes of passion' thrust/trust thumb/thump trade/trait vale/veil vane/vein variety/verity verses/versus vial/vile waist/waste - Oh god, talk about ruining the moment... Any lemon where you suddenly include 'waste' is NOT my thing!! wander/wonder - if you're wandering about, you're out for a walk...! wanton/wonton ...oh please, don't moan like a chinese dumpling...! warn/worn weakly/weekly weather/whether whipped/wiped
(this collection of mistakes is only here because I needed to write them down somewhere, mainly to keep somewhat sane! But for your own entertainment; try to picture the results of some of these errors...)
...because spellcheck cannot help you if/when you don't know the difference - they might look and sound the same to you, but they are VERY different words - and when you use the wrong one you're often unintentionally funny: 'the chair was titled forward' VS 'the chair was tilted forward'.
Sure, some of these could be typos except you rarely continue making the same typo over and over – then it becomes a misunderstanding! I could have inserted a link to some of the stories with the worst/most entertaining errors... I chose not to make fun of anybody, but they are all found in fanfiction.
I never understood why some authors find it necessary to fill their summaries with comments about not being able to write a good summary; that does NOT make it any better..! In my opinion you can only write a really good one when you know exactly where your story is heading – if you don’t know, it might explain why you have a problem...
