Does rain make it easier to write? During last week's bad weather, I sat down one day with the sudden wish to work on this fic. Once I started typing, I couldn't stop and I've already completed 2000 words in the last few days alone. I come home from work with this need to just WRITE. It feels like it did at the start, when I was genuinely excited about the whole process and couldn't wait to pen the next chapter in the adventure. Maybe I needed that 2.5 year break (um, yes) to regain my writing mojo. Look forward to an update in the near future!

I can't believe more than a year has passed already. Yet people are still stumbling across this story, not really sure how, but it's appreciated, nevertheless! I guess you can't really trust anything I say anymore, since I was supposed to finish this year apparently and I've only done 350 words of the next chapter. However, I can't bear to just permanently write this fic off. It's my only substantial piece of writing and it definitely has sentimental value for me. I guess I just have to ask you to be patient. Either that, or keep bugging me about it!

Can you guess why I'm updating right now? Yes, you've guessed right - I have exams coming up! I have been productive writing-wise, working on other fanfiction I've posted on another website. I'll probably put a link to it some time soon. My aim right now is to finish this fic by the end of next year, which I think will be achievable because I am graduating this year and so hurrah, no more uni to interfere! Anyway, I'm hoping to have the next chapter up before I go overseas in December. Fingers crossed!

I just checked my Stats and I was really surprised that people still managed to stumble across it, even though it hasn't been updated for awhile. Also makes me feel quite guilty though. I'm in the middle of my exams and for some reason, exam period always renews my interest in fanfiction. So I've actually started the next chapter and am looking forward to working on it soon. Please be patient!

Yes, believe me, I'm shocked too. After 17 months, I have finally finished Chapter 11. I am so dead tired right now, but it was worth it :)
"The Silver Butterfly" SFAQs (Semi Frequently Asked Questions)
What exactly are SFAQs?
They are questions that have been asked by reviewers at least twice, sometimes even just once, and the rest haven't exactly been explicitly stated, but are inferred from readers' comments.
You don't follow the books. Why?
I purposely didn't read Return of the King to make sure the movie wasn't spoiled for me. While waiting for said movie to come out, I decided to start writing my own version of how the War of the Ring ends. The presence of two original characters means the events of the third book change accordingly to accommodate them. Yet I didn't want to follow the exact same storyline with Elaria and Skye just tagging along - I changed the plot to make them more central to it.
How old are Elaria and Skye?
Elaria is 17 while Skye is 13.
Is Elaria a Mary Sue?
I've been told that this story has Mary Sue qualities, but I wouldn't classify Elaria as a total Mary Sue. She seems to be one on the outside, not on the inside.
Who will Elaria and Skye get together with in the end?
Well, I think it's pretty clear who Elaria's love interest is ;) As for Skye, she has two potential suitors in two very different cities.
You haven't updated in ages. Why?
Basically, it comes down to lack of time and lack of motivation. I was once an avid reader of fanfiction, but now my interest has definitely waned. Also, I'm becoming more interested in developing my own fiction.
Arrgh, why did you leave me with that cliffhanger at the end of Chapter X?
Because I'm evil!
Note: If you're in my favourite authors list, it means I like at least two of your fics :)
