Author has written 2 stories for Sailor Moon X-overs.
After lurking around ff.net for goodness knows how long, I've finally decided to start putting up some of my own fics. Most of them will be slow coming, as I have little opportunity to sit down and write to my heart's content. College is funny that way.
I absolutely love anime. I'm starting to branch out a bit from my original shows, but still have my loyalty to Sailor Moon, the show that got me into the genre. I remember the first time I saw it, I thought it was the stupidest show I had ever seen. Upon the insistence of my younger sister, I continued to watch, and fell in love with it. In return, I got her hooked on Inuyasha.
Because I know the most about this show, my fics will invariably contain characters from it. I might start in on others, as I become more accustomed to writing instead of reading fanfics.
In addition to Sailor Moon fics, I enjoy reading Lord of the Rings (I'm actually trying to be a more educated fan by reading the books and not just relying on the movies), Batman, Teen Titans, and Star Wars (preferrably those in the JA era). By reading SM crossovers, I'm also trying to get into other animes. I usually stick to the ones I've seen a few episodes of, that way I have an idea as to the characters' personalities.
It has become increasingly difficult, in my opinion, to find fanfics that I can stand reading. Usually it's because a lot of writers out there just stop in the middle of a promising story. I have a lot of fanfics on my favorites list that haven't been updated in years. Which is sad, really. So I fully intend to finish mine, though it might take forever. I'm really proud of how I'm doing with classes so far, as far as actually doing the readings and getting off my butt to show up for the lectures. But in actually fulfilling my responsibilites as a university student, I've had to sacrifice my drabbling as a writer. Sorry about that; I'll try to make sure my stories are extra-good to make up for it. ;)
A question to the SM writers though: Why do so many of you hate Mamoru-san! That's not a rhetorical question; I'd really lke to know, so e-mail me if you can answer it. I hope you aren't basing your opinions of him on the poorly dubbed DIC versions (or whoever they belong to now). I haven't read much of the manga, but I've been watching the original uncut versions with English subtitles, and I really can't find much reason for all of the loathing. That's why I'm hesitant to see many other animes; the English dubbed versions are often their corrupted forms. Do you guys really think Ms. Naoko would set up our beloved Bunny with someone who didn't deserve her? I find myself losing patience with all of the fics that make him out to be a disgusting person just to set Usagi up with someone else. And what's with all of the betrayal fics? How many times have the Senshi died for their leader? It seems quite far-fetched for them to just turn on her. Especially Rei, as she seems to be one of the most dutiful. There other more believable and creative ways to begin a plot.
Artistic license, yes. Slaughtering the essence of the story, no.
As of right now, I am working on an SM/PotC crossover, a Teen Titan/SM crossover, and an HP/SM crossover. The latter will probably be my version of Year 6, now that I've read The Half-Blood Prince. I have to say, some of you authors were right on the money with your fics as far as what would happen that year. Kudos! I also have plans on an AU SM/SW fic, as there seems to be so few out there. While I think I know more than the average fan, I'm not sure I'm ready to take on the SW universe. I would really prefer a beta reader for that one, and anybody interested in the job should e-mail me.
I would love for you to comment on my stories. I've already warned you about the slow updates, although I will never post a story that I don't have at least an idea for its beginning and end. So they will get completed...eventually. I'm trying to work on another thing too: I've read so many stories, and have left only a couple of reviews. I've gotten better with it though, now that I know how great it feels to get one. Writers deserve to know their audience's reaction, and seeing as how fanfic authors don't get any other compensation, it's the least we can do for them.
Works in Progress:
“Sailor Moon: Curse of the Black Pearl” – This story is not just focused on Rei! I think a lot of you are being scared off by the first chapter because it seems that way (or maybe it’s the unnecessarily long intro author’s note). Either way, I’d really appreciate if you kept reading for a few more chapters. Rei is in it now because that’s just the way the timeline goes. We’ll eventually get to the others I’ve promised. To those of you who are actually already reading, I promise that I am still working on it. I actually have most of the next two chapters done. However, there is something crucial missing from what I have of Chapter Three. Once I figure out what it is, I’ll add it in and post.
“The Afterwards” – This is admittedly turning out to be a bit more cliché than I had originally planned. But I dunno, I’m kind of enjoying it! Hope you are too. It’s an easy write and provides for a nice distraction from classes. I’ve gotten way more hits on this one than my other. But as there aren’t that many reviews, I don’t know if you do or don’t like it (hint, hint…).
6/12/05: I've just finished posting my very FIRST chapter. And I've come to the conclusion that I don't like ff.net's uploading system. It really screws with your formatting, ne?
