Time for another profile update! Not much has changed (other than my age; I'll be 21 in June). I'm a senior in college now, still working toward my Elementary Ed degree with a minor in English. I love writing and hope to eventually publish at least one novel, but I figured out years ago that writers who haven't published anything yet earn no money if they are just writers. Since I also love teaching and elementary kids, I've found a career that will allow me to earn some money (though teachers don't earn much), pursue my passion, and still have time for writing (I hope!)
I love reading fantasy books and classics. Some of my favorite authors include: Gail Carson Levine, Patricia C. Wrede, J.K. Rowling, Brian Jacques, Jane Austen, Vivian Vande Velde, L.M. Montgomery, J.R.R. Tolkien, and C.S. Lewis. I am also working to develop a wider reading circle, delving into realistic fiction and historical fiction. I love a good mystery, and have been known to read Shakespeare (though not for fun yet). I choose books by authors I like, or because of interesting titles or inside cover blurbs. I will start reading just about anything (heck, I read the back of the cereal box!) but have been known to quit in the middle or skip to the ending of a book that doesn't draw me in.
Here on FF.net, I read mostly the fairy tales section, and I write for that section almost exclusively. I have also been known to read Harry Potter, Bones, Redwall, and even Magic School Bus fan fiction. If I know the book/movie/tv show, I will at least peek at a few stories in the section. If the story draws me in with the plot and characters, I'll keep reading. I don't read slash or anything that's excessively gory or gross. I don't mind lemon scenes if they are in a story that features more than just lemons (there has to be a plot beyond the characters having sex or it's kind of pointless...)
When I'm not reading, writing, or doing schoolwork, I can usually be found knitting. That's my other passion. I knit a lot, mostly socks and blankets. I love yarn. I think having the ability to turn pretty yarn into a pretty garment or household item--something people can use--is like having magic. Like many stereotypical knitters, I also love cats. My goal in life is to be a crazy cat lady/knitter/author/teacher. I think I can pull it off!
That's just about it for me for now. Please take a look at my stories and let me know what you think of them. Thanks for visiting!
