![]() Hi there! I am in my early 30s and have rediscovered my love of reading. I loved reading as a little girl, hated reading while in high school but have since found my love/passion/obsession for it. Better late than never! I have a BA in Speech Communication with an emphasis in Secondary Ed and a minor in Philosophy of Legal Studies (pre-law) and Masters in Communication with an emphasis in rhetoric and argumentation. I currently teach high school speech, debate, communication and English classes and have been coaching Forensics (competitive speech, debate and acting) since 1996. About 6 years ago, my high school students started pestering me to read the Harry Potter books. When their pestering didn't amount to much, they tried (and succeeded) with puppy dog eyes and I dove right in. I am hyper-organized (my husband likes to call me anal) and a bit OCD, and when I find something I like, I become a bit obsessed... so when I started the first book, I immediately went and bought the series and read them in a week, followed by buying every movie that was out at the time. Thank goodness my husband likes watching the movies with me, so he didn't mind when I lost myself in the newest book and then demanded a Harry Potter-a-thon with the movies (each time I finished a new book, we had to start with the first movie and work up to the present). Then the high school girls started swooning over Eward & Jacob in Twilight. My sister was also having a conniption that I had to read the Twilight series. I trusted their judgement being that they didn't steer me wrong with Harry Potter and bought the first book. HELLO, hooked on vampires from that second on. I got the rest of the series and available movies and haven't looked back. To get this out of the way, yes, I am team EDWARD all the way. I even named my 2 year old kitty Twilight. I have read that series about 20 times, including Midnight Sun - Twilight from Eward's POV from Stefanie Meyer's site. For Christmas 3 years ago my sister sprung for the British box set version that comes with white covers and red dipped outer pages, so when the books are closed, they are red on the outer edges... they rock my socks, even if the shipping was more than the books themselves. lol! I have always been a fan of vampires and the super natural, going as far back as The Lost Boys, Buffy, Angel, Charmed, & Interview With a Vampire (though I have not read the Ann Rice books). By some small favor handed down by God, I happened to catch an episode of True Blood on an HBO free preview weekend a couple years ago (during Season 2). I was enchanted and beyond ecstatic when I discovered they were based on the Sookie books. I promptly went out and bought the first 8 books and devoured them within a week. Then reread them countless times and obviously have been first in line when each new book is released. I also promptly subscribed to HBO so I could watch True Blood and have all the seasons on DVD/BlueRay. Oh, and Alan Ball can go suck rocks at the abomination he is now putting out on TB!!! Oh, and have hard copies and copies on my Kindle Fire. I am ashamed to admit that I was a Bill fan until the 3rd book; I then saw the errors of my ways and think only of Eric. With my Eric obsession in full swing, I found "Eric Northman Addicts" on facebook and was directed to a delightful story by Fanfic78 called Pretty Kitty. That launched my addiction to fanfic! The rest they say is history and I don't go a day without reading about our favorite couple on fanfic... as you can see by the gratuitous number of favorited stories. I only favorite a story that I am willing to read again... that is my litmus test to hit the favorite button. Yes, I have read all the stories on my favorite list at least twice. I am also addicted to 50 Shades of Grey... if you haven't read them DO IT NOW. There are rumors of A-Skars playing Christian... SWOON!!! I am toying with the idea to write my own fanfic story about our lovers, but don't know where to start. If any of you are reading my profile and would like to give me a story suggestion, I am all ears and ready to try being an author, even if writing lemons makes me nervous! |
