Introduction

Greetings, all of those who are viewing this profile! As you can hopefully tell, I'm a cartoon fanatic. But I'm also an anime and police procedural show fanatic. Moreover, I am a dedicated fanfiction writer active since 2011 (although timestamps on my current roster of works don't show it), and I aspire to write books of my own someday. I graduated from a public college in California, United States, with a major in English. I've just gotten a job that will potentially serve as my safety net while I tackle writing books, and I am just focused on settling into that job whenever I am not writing. It's a bit of a chore, but I think I can manage.

News update (January 8, 2023)

Just a heads-up, there's a new account feature for this site called "Email Opt-in". It controls the site's ability to send out email notifications to you. It is disabled by default, so you need to go to your account settings and enable it by clicking "Yes". The site will disable the opt-in by default again after 90 days of activation; in other words, you'll need to return to your account settings about EVERY SIX MONTHS to manually reset it. Without the opt-in, you WILL NOT be getting email notifications on whether any of your favorite stories have been updated or not, or whether an author that you are following has posted a new story or not. Please heed these instructions! FictionPress announced this new feature on their Twitter account, but I doubt news of this has reached everyone!

News update (September 24, 2022)

I just wanted to take this moment to address the rumors that I've been hearing recently about FanFiction.Net shutting down. Right now, I'm not convinced of their reliability, since the admins have reappeared on Twitter after a long hiatus to provide some updates on what they're doing for the site. Whether or not those updates pan out like they're supposed to remains to be seen, but I'll take the admins' word for it. Regardless of what happens, I intend to stay with this site till the bitter end. I've been here for over ten years, and I've just become too attached to it to jump off the ship.

But if the shutdown does happen, whether it's in the near-future or not, don't worry, everyone. That won't be the end of me and my projects. For those of you who don't know by now, I've been active on Archive Of Our Own since 2019. Many of my stories (at least all of the ones that I do intend to continue at some point) are also posted on there, and any new chapters and stories that I post on here will automatically be posted on AO3 as well. Glitches that plagued the site back in 2020 convinced me of the importance of having backup copies of my stories posted on other fanfiction sites. So, here we are!

And yes, in case you didn't notice the "Alternate accounts" section above, I go by the same username of "TheCartoonFanatic01" at AO3. It shouldn't be hard to find me there.

So once again, don't worry, everyone. Rest assured, I've been on top of a potential shutdown of FF for years. My stories are safely stored elsewhere. If the end of this site is near, let's all just kick back and enjoy the memories we made here. :)

News update (April 20, 2022)

Sorry for the late update, everyone. But I managed to update "Outlier" yesterday. Check it out when you can! Now, next up is "Fists from the Heart", which I expect to update tomorrow. I know, I know, not exactly back-to-back like I claimed I would do earlier. But hey, it's the thought that counts, right?

Also, I have a major announcement for everyone: I finally got a full-time job! And it's with a government office position! HOORAY!

Now, it's just an entry-level position, nothing truly special right now, but I'm definitely well-situated at the moment. I will be starting my work next week, and as soon as all of that happens, the pace of my writing will slow down for about a few weeks. I don't know by how much, and I don't know how long the slowdown will actually take, but I just want to let you all know that updates to my fics are going to be more likely to come later rather than sooner. Once I become accustomed to my newest schedule and figure out the amount of spare time that I will have to write, I think I'll be able to develop a brand-new, steady pace of writing that I can adhere to.

But yes, new job, new me! Wish me the best of luck, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls! I'm going to need it! :D

News update (November 11, 2021)

It has just come to my attention that email notifications all across the board from this site have apparently been disabled for Hotmail/Outlook users. Acting on the advice that I saw from someone on the Fanfic Help Desk forum, I switched my account's email address to Gmail, since the email notifications appear to be working over there. I have already received a confirmation email from the site upon making the switch, so it seems like the information is legit. I'll continue testing it out and working out all of the kinks, but I have high hopes.

For all of my readers and fellow writers who are using Hotmail/Outlook accounts, I strongly recommend switching over to Gmail if you wish to get email notifications from this site. You could create a fanfiction-exclusive Gmail account if you are uncomfortable using your existing Gmail account for that stuff.

News update (October 27, 2021)

Hey, everyone! Due to the slowly improving situation regarding the coronavirus outbreak, I am going to have to remind you all about the basic steps you should take if you want to stay healthy, courtesy of my university's reminder emails:

-Wash hands often with soap and water for 20-30 seconds at a time, and/or use hand sanitizer
-Avoid close contact with people who are sick
-Keep your hands away from nose, eyes, and mouth (I can't imagine how difficult this part is probably going to be)
-Eat well, get adequate rest, and exercise regularly
-Get a flu shot if you haven't already and are able to
-Stay informed on the COVID-19 vaccines, get shots if you're able to, and try to get a booster shot if you're eligible

And if you ARE sick (I hope you get better if you are), please be a good sport and save other folks the trouble of getting sick. You can do this by:

-Covering your mouth and nose with your sleeve, elbow, or a tissue whenever you sneeze or cough
-Not sharing food and drinks with others
-Avoiding touching your mouth, nose, and eyes (Again, I understand this is probably going to be difficult)
-Avoiding close contact with others
-Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces and objects
-Staying at home if you're unwell (PRIORITY NUMBER ONE!)
-Staying calm and keeping yourself well-informed (My personal advice)

If you already know this, then great! If you didn't know any of this beforehand, please keep that information in mind as we all go through this trying time. It's a realm of unknowns at this point, and I wish myself and all of humanity well.

This is in reference to the below news update. The user in question has just come forward, clarified their positions, and apologized for their actions. I took their apology, and hopefully the hatchet has been buried. But I will keep these news updates on my profile for anyone here who might be dealing with similar problems of online impersonation. Everyone has rights, even on the Internet. Don't forget that.

IMPORTANT News update (May 21, 2021)

Hey, everyone. If you're reading this right now, I've got some urgent news to share with you all, and I need you to pay close attention, because this is in regards to a situation that might affect you if you've written a story on this site.

Someone's impersonating me. This is no joke.

Right now, they're going under the name of "A TheCartoonFanatic01", but they could change the username at any time. Please understand that THAT isn't an alternate account of mine; I have absolutely no plans of using an alternate account for whatever reason. They have been registered since May 16 of this year, and as far as I know, they've left trolling and accusatory reviews on two of my stories before I blocked them; I've reported both of their reviews as well.

After that, it came to my attention today that this user reviewed two "Phineas and Ferb" stories under that username, unnecessarily bashing their stories and referring them to "Evil Phineas", claiming it is better than theirs. I don't know if they've reviewed any other stories like this or done anything else, or if they're in the process of doing anything else. But I'm already feeling the consequences of this. One of the authors targeted by these terrible reviews has already confused me with the impersonator and sent me a PM because of it. I just sent them a response in which I explained the situation to them, told them what to do to get the impersonator off of their back, and apologized for them being caught up in the situation. In addition, I PMed the other author to inform them of the situation as well, and I've reported both offending reviews.

I STRONGLY urge you all to be on the lookout for this person. If you see or receive a review or a PM from someone with my username in theirs, a review or a PM that contains any sort of harassment, unusual accusations against me, strange behavior, or even just plain bad writing in general, I need you all to REPORT THEM. What they are doing right now is absolutely uncalled for and nothing less than the behavior of an immature troll. And let's not forget, it's ILLEGAL.

The funny thing is that I've had experiences with this person before they chose to set up that account. They used to be an unsigned reviewer active in the Marvel fandom who has been VERY critical and nitpicky with how I'm writing one of my stories, "My Marvel Academia: A Tale of Two Schools". Ever since I began deleting their reviews through the site's review moderator function, they've been having an absolutely hilarious fit and trying to harass me here and at Archive Of Our Own, even though I've been deleting their reviews at every turn before they could even become publicly visible. But unfortunately, they've decided to stoop to an even lower point by impersonating me and doing stuff under my name.

And I'd like to take this moment to address "A TheCartoonFanatic01" directly. Also known as "OK KO". Yes, you. I know it's you. And I know you're reading this.

I'm not joking when I said this was illegal. IT IS.

ONLINE IMPERSONATION IS ILLEGAL.

Just Google "is online impersonation illegal" or something similar, and you'll get a ton of results confirming this. You CAN be held liable in a civil court, and depending on how far you've gone, you CAN be charged in criminal court. YOU COULD GO TO JAIL FOR DOING THIS. THIS IS NO LAUGHING MATTER.

I understand that you've got problems with how I've chosen to take "My Marvel Academia: A Tale of Two Schools", and I have taken them into consideration. But a professor of mine taught me this: only the writer has the final say on where to take the story that they want to write, and not the person giving feedback. Constructive criticism is absolutely acceptable and I've had my fair share for every fanfic that I've written. But there comes a point where it turns from that into simply forcing the writer to change the story so it could make more sense to the person giving the feedback. You can't just butt into the writer's vision like that. And there is a direction that I know I want to take with "My Marvel Academia: A Tale of Two Schools". It became clear to me that you persistently wanted one thing while I wanted another, and that was why I started ignoring you. I'm sorry if my direction doesn't jibe with your expectations or beliefs.

But what I'm not sorry about is calling you out on your tomfoolery. I know I could've sent you a PM telling you all of this, but that means settling the matter privately and you're not worth that goodwill anymore. You made this dilemma public from the moment you created an impersonation account, reviewed innocent, uninvolved authors' stories, hurt someone's feelings, and got them to confuse you with me through their emotional vulnerability.

You could've just ignored my story like how I was ignoring you. After all, my fic is just one of many, MANY fics out there, and its existence does not spell the end for the rest of them. It was never my intention to actively, maliciously offend you with my fic or with all of the times that I've ignored you. But you chose to become that pesky fly and keep harassing me until, when all your anonymous and unsigned messages kept bouncing off me, you decided to throw an even bigger and more childish fit by doing what you're doing right now. And I'm not going to let you keep it up for any longer. You need to stop this now. Move on to something else. Take a walk somewhere nice. Keep your mind off of me and my stories for once. Otherwise, you're going to get in a whole lot of trouble for this.

So yeah, long story short, someone is very mad that I'm not writing a story the way they expect me to, and that I'm not giving them the time of day; they've been acting out on it by attempting to impersonate me; and I need you all to report ANY suspicious activity you see from an account or accounts featuring my username in theirs.
