"Blessed Unrest" by Martha Graham
There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening
that is translated through you into action,
and because there is only one of you in all time,
this expression is unique.
If you block it,
it will never exist through any other medium
and be lost.
The world will not have it.
It is not yours to determine how good it is;
nor how it compares with other expressions.
It is your business to keep the channel open.
You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work.
You have to keep open and aware directly
to the urges that motivate you.
Keep the channel open.
No artist is ever pleased.
There is no satisfaction whatever at any time.
There is only a queer divine dissatisfaction;
a blessed unrest that keeps us marching
and makes us more alive than the others.
I never really thought I would publishing my stories on ffnet. For the longest time I've kept all my ideas cluttered in a small diary I'd like to call my "dream journal" but somehow, this community has inspired me to write a few pieces of my own.
The quote above is a synopsis of my writing style (it's also quite possibly my favorite quote and the name of my favorite music album by Sara Bareilles). Half the time when I churn out chapters I have a general outline of a beginning and the end, but when I write everything in between there's always room for change. I'm always looking for new ways to improve my writing, whether it's from others' stories or reviews, and sometimes I go back to tweak the content after I publish it online (which I get it, can be very annoying to the reader. Especially when we just want to read the chapter and go on). But I can assure you that I'm working on that aspect for my sanity as much as yours.
That being said, I cherish every single word a follower/favoriter/wandering reviewer will write. I live for constructive criticism and love it when someone understands the feelings I'm trying to convey through my stories. So please, take a little time to leave a comment. Thanks for visiting my page!
As for my favorite pairings at the moment, here are some posted below in no particular order...
Sesshoumaru x Kagome Let's just establish that I am a sucker for mysterious (and slightly introverted) men who are impossibly stubborn, strong, handsome, etc. who fall for equally stubborn, unconventional women. forthright does an exceptional job with this pairing in Lord Charming
Fairy Tail Pairings (and other BroTPs):
Laxus x Lucy and Bixlow x Lucy recently became a new addition thanks to Deathsembrace137
Elfman x Evergreen It's a shame this pairing doesn't get much love on ffnet, but to anyone who supports this ship I would highly suggest checking out Chesh Writes
Gajeel x Lucy is a pairing I'm still getting used to thanks to ErzaDreyar's wonderfully crafted Outcasts
Gajeel x Levy is also a couple I ardently admire, thanks to Miss Mungoe
Laxus x Mira Although their characters clash more often than not, sometimes I think they work quite well together. By far my favorite story is death and dream by Asakami.
Laxus x Cana I think they'd make great drinking buddies. Reference to Drinking Buddies by Mrs.HopeEstheim
And as we all love this expected pairing, Natsu x Lucy There are too many authors which I can credit this pairing for, but if I had to choose, then I would pick A Dragon's Beloved One by KaUiA. It's an AU that sums up the wonder, the adventure, the angst, and the underlying comfort in their relationship quite well.
Raijinshuu Three authors: Chesh Writes (this group is dotted throughout a lot of her FT fics, primarily in Days We Hold Precious) & GemNika (I could tell you how wonderful her stories are but it's an experience in itself so just read everything) & koa-chan (We Are Young is a wonderful rendition regarding the main FT characters, but personally I think this author portrays the Raijinshuu the best. It's heartwarming, hilarious, tear-jerking, and eye-opening in all the social aspects you wouldn't see very often in fanfiction...and in a very good way)
Gajeel/Juvia Their friendship has endless possibilities. What drew me in was their ultimate trust in one another during the Key of the Starry Skies arc. juviass' Kiss on the Palm and Iris is a sweet portrayal of their relationship throughout the series.
Laxus/Wendy I didn't even think this BroTP was even possible until I read Kindred by slstmaraudersjple. Really, their sister/brotherly relationship is too cute.
Inuyasha Pairings:Sesshoumaru x Kagome Let's just establish that I am a sucker for mysterious (and broody) men who are impossibly stubborn, strong, handsome, etc. who fall for equally stubborn, unconventional women. forthright does an exceptional job with this pairing in Lord Charming
Ouran High School Host Club:
Takashi ("Mori-sempai") x Haruhi This has been a secret OTP of mine ever since that Jungle SOS episode. There's something about the way Takashi holds himself with his reassuring smiles, his sparse yet heartfelt words and his underlying devotion to those who matter that makes a relationship with Haruhi so...natural. To see what I mean, please read rhetoricfemme's Silent Challenges.
Shizuo x Celty Rip your heart girls, because Shizuo is 10x better than Shinra. He's far more supportive than Shinra will ever be (I understand why people ship Shinra x Celty, but to be honest I'm kind of sick of the lies he pulls just to keep Celty by his side) and personally I think they need each other. Especially when Celty seems to be the only one he can have a calm conversation with or when she doesn't expect Shizuo to judge her for her insecurities about her head. There's a lot of silent understanding between them (and I'm not just talking about how Celty can't actually speak) and that is why I think they are the most ideal couple. Now if only they were canon...
Final Fantasy XIII/XIII-2/Lightening Returns:
Claire ("Lightening") x Hope This pair can actually serve as a BroTP and a regular OTP, but I like the OTP better. An older Hope Estheim has a lot of burdens on his shoulders to deal with and Lightening, as young as she still is (unchanged because of her time in Valhala), has to find ways to realign herself with someone she used to see as a child. It's an interesting couple to say in the least. At the moment, I'm digging One Hundred Reasons by RainbowSerenity, a collection of one shots with canon and AU events.
Ren ("Kuon) x Kyoko There are so many things I can say about these two characters, but what I like about them the most is how much room there is for change. The amount of depth in their characterization is astounding, and it only gets better when they acquire different roles over their acting careers. The drama is bit unnecessary (and exaggerated) at times but I think we can overlook that considering they're both a part of the entertainment industry ;) Bobapearl posts a lot my favorite stories regarding this couple; please check her out when you get the chance.
Nanatsu no Taizai:
Ban x Elaine
Harlequin ("King") x Diane

But it had, and for a moment it was as if everything had crumbled away into dust and they were the only beings left in existence. A one-shot dedication to LaLu week (also a slight spin-off for Rumor Has It)
Real Happy At the end of the day, it doesn't matter that she's married, he's not or or that everyone else used to think that they were the "it" couple. What matters the most is that she's okay. He's okay. And that they're both happy. Real happy. [Laxus, Lucy, Mirajane]
Heated Discussion In which a terrible impression results in an impromptu battle of their most intimidating moments. Spoilers for episode 225. [Laxus, Lucy]
The Visage of a Bar Bartending is more than just serving drinks. It's an oath to ease the worries they fake, keep the secrets you take and most importantly, remember the memories you make. Loosely inspired by the "Bartender" manga. [Mirajane]
Nanatsu no Taizai
A Treacherous Cycle He's stuck in that treacherous cycle, drowning in the whispers of her laughter as if she's there beside him. [Elaine, Ban] King H.
