Why do you like Fandoms?
Fandoms are a form of art to me. They allow me to express why I love or hate certain aspect of a fandom (mostly love) and allows me to explore the deeper meanings behind their popularity, beliefs and reasoning behind universal themes. It also helps me keep an open mind and prevents me from criticizing other people favorites since i would probably like something they hate or find confusing (even controversial). Fandoms is really another form of outlet for me, a way to lighten up the cloudy days or brighten the boring reality of life. It lets me well be me.
What don't you like about Fandoms?
Mainly the trolls, insulting reviews and fan wars...I mean seriously I know fandoms exist to provide the basics but i really hate it when other fans criticizes someone for liking something completely different. I also don't appreciate being called many variations of stupid (i'm looking at the cowards hiding as guest) when i'm trying to express a different idea through my writing. For one thing when entering a fandom for the first time the information or ideas are all so much for me to process and really I choose what I like or don't like about it base on how other fan girls/boys present the information. Sometimes i read the reviews of other works to see if I would like the story if i'm on the bend about reading it and it stuck me on how diverse people really are. I expected most reviews to be well about grammer since mine is so horrible and i'm told this repeatedly. but it isn't. The most hateful reviews I read are usual AU's. Something that is completely different than the fandom canon information is presented, it takes the characters and i'm surprised by how many people don't understand the term 'fanfiction'. I mean really it confuses me as to why so many fans attack other fans because their OTP isn't right or what their writing doesn't represent the canon information...but serious this is fanfiction. People have a wide variety of likes and dislikes and if you know you won't like something...then don't read it. I mean come on no one is forcing you to read something that you may be fully aware of reading and that your completely against if you didn't and read some of the chapters and found you don't like it then don't insult the writer back out of the story and find another one to enjoy! It's that fucking simple people!
Recently I was reading some reviews on 'Taming an Incubus' in order to finish a chapter and I found some constructive criticism in it...however, I also found that being can be really volatile in some of the reviews. A Guest review has stuck in my mind for a bit since 1. they were really rude of present some information. 2. they started the review by calling me stupid...not the best way to start a day and I felt insulted... 3. The way he gave me the information felt like he/she was trying to scold me on something they believe i should already know but really don't was irritating (definition of ass-whole people) 4. I didn't fucking know their was a Manga series about it! That review was the only thing that made me aware of it at all! When i was writing it I was going off the information i got from researching the demons that Christianity has and forming my own ideas base on the information that i gathered...How the fuck should i know there was a manga series when my only source material was the Anime?! 5. The Anime was my introduction into the fandom...
For one thing i didn't like about Fandoms is that the fans in them can sometimes be...aggressive (that is as tame as I can be) and because of this review i have stopped reading the generally fandom for the past year or so...Now that i am aware of other canon information (books, TV shows, Manag/Anime) being there i had to save up money (that i really didn't have) in order to get said source material because my computer sucks. Even while reading them I thought - why do people read something they know they won't like anyways and would actively attack someone else either because their shippings are wrong are they got the information all mixed up? Because really these sites that allow us to explore our fandoms don't really care are how you present them. The sites don't care if you write smut (because really that all i read on this site and if you take that away then it's just boring fluff), it doesn't really care if you go the opposite way from the fandom universe. As long as you write something that fits in it and show your love by either disturbing details or fluff it doesn't care. These sites allow you to be free not to be hounded by other fan girls/boys.
Also Vanity is another word for Pride - jackass! and if you really want to get technical on how many sins that Christianity labelled are Gluttony, Fornication, Avarice, Sorrow, Anger, Discouragement, Vainglory, and Pride. Get your religion right!
What else do you do?
I draw, play video games (never horror I hate the feelings it gives me!) and well read and write. I'm always preoccupied by something so i'm not really board...oh wait except for certain class in school and if i'm not doing that i'm hanging out with loved ones (because i don't get out much).
