![]() Author has written 80 stories for Yu-Gi-Oh, Harry Potter, Legend of Zelda, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Inkheart, M*A*S*H, Twilight, Batman, Naruto, Titanic, and Fruits Basket. Unfortunate news, everyone: As some of you know, I made a trans-Atlantic move recently. Unfortunately, between the time I checked my luggage with the airline and the time I arrived in my new home to claim said luggage, my laptop was stolen out of my bag. I had also recently lost a back-up flash drive, so between the two, I lost a lot of stuff. A lot a lot. I'm recovering - between finding old stuff on old hard drives, attached files to old emails in my sent box, and continually writing new things and re-vamping old things, I am rebuilding my archives, but it's a slow and painful process. SO... in conclusion, the goal to revisit the hiatused stories still stands, but a HUGE wrench was thrown in my plans. So please be patient with me. :( In other news: Welcome to the profile of Shekiah Rosay. :) I've been writing here since 2003 (crazy, right?) ... and I'm still here. Granted, that's among the only aspects of my life that are still the same. xD I've mostly stayed in several key fandoms: Yu-Gi-Oh (Forever favorite. I may stray, but I'll always find myself back here eventually), Phantom of the Opera, Les Mis, Twilight, Batman, and Naruto. I've played around with a few other ideas in a few other fandoms, but these are the places where they know me. :) I am (technically) bilingual, so I read and write stories in both English and French. However, English will always be my native language. I've studied French for eight years or so, but I've only lived in France for a few months. So, sometimes you have to be a little bit patient with me in French. I like reading and writing in French, though, it helps me practice! As couplings go... I'm a little strange. I used to be obsessive about my OTPs, but I've relaxed a little bit in more recent years. Silentshipping (Yu-Gi-Oh, SetoxSerenity) was the coupling that started it all, but I've dabbled in SetoxMai over the last few years. I'm still little more stringent about my YGO couplings than couplings in other fandoms. I'm admittedly up for just about anything (within reason) in the Naruto-verse. I have a thing for huge age differences over there... like I'm a big proponent of GaiTen and KakaSaku. I will pair Anko with anybody, just for grins and giggles, but I like her the best with Orochimaru, Kakashi, Jiraiya, and Gai. Anko's my hero, and I sort of want to be her when I grow up. As for the twilight stuff... yeah. I like twilight. So sue me. xD Rosalie and Esme are my very favorites, mostly because I don't think either of them get the credit they're due in the originals. So I do what I can to pay some tribute to these lovely characters! Again, on a real-life note... My favorite food is banana pudding, and I carry a commonplace book with me everywhere I go (à la Lemony Snicket). I play piano whenever I'm stressed out and guitar most all of the time whether I'm stressed out or not. I play viola when I'm feeling social. ;) I sing all the time. No questions asked. I love funny online vids; they're a pastime of mine. Old Gregg is my all-time favorite ever. I don't know what it is about him that I find so funny, especially after I've seen the video 10000x, but as soon as Noel Fielding opens his mouth and says "I like you, what do you think of me?" I. lose. my. mind. I also have a not-so-secret obsession with Jerome Jarre. One of my life goals is to either be in one of his vines and/or marry him. I'm open to either, really. I'm hopelessly obsessed with Frozen. Just for the record. I have always loved villains, so naturally I am madly in love with Hans, but it's also complicated because he reminds me so much of this jerk I dated one time. So I am in this passionately awkward (awkwardly passionate?) love-hate relationship with a Disney prince-villain. I'm gonna go ahead and blame it on both the villainy and the beautiful, swoon-worthy sideburns. (Javert fangirls such as myself know the power of an excellent pair of sideburns.) As far as my writing itself is concerned... yeah, I'm aware there's a lot of it. It would take forever to peruse everything. Just enjoy, and pick and choose based on genre/universe. Summaries are pretty specific, on the whole, so what you see is what you get! All I ask is that you all realize that the older stuff is YEARS old - over a decade. So it's ancient. Really. if you're gonna read it, be my guest (that's why I haven't taken it down) but... don't judge. :) If you're in the mood for a recommendation, I'd advise you to go for The Esme Diaries or A Better Man. They're both Carlisle x Esme (Twilight) stuff from 2009, but they're the best things on here. In my opinion. There's something about the dynamic between those two and their individual personalities that I can connect with, and it makes for some of my best writing. If you frequent the anime-verse, go for Same Time Next Week, a Yu-Gi-Oh story from 2007. It's a little older and I don't think the style is as solid, but it's probably one of my favorites anyway. I've also started something kind of revolutionary - at least, I think so. I do it, and I'm trying to start a trend. ;) It's called Stories-for-a-Cause, and basically, the object is putting our favorite characters into difficult real-life situations and exploring the way they help one another, cope, etc. I do this to build up sympathy and understanding for things that people actually struggle with. My two Stories-for-a-Cause so far are Same Time Next Week (Yu-Gi-Oh fandom, topic = domestic abuse) and Something to Fight For (Twilight fandom, topic = sexual assault). Check them out and think about doing a few of your own for topics you're passionate about. Fanfiction is a fun hobby, but it's also a great forum for sharing ideas with others. We all have the potential to become passionate activists, so inspire one another to change the world! In case you haven't noticed,I really love stories about babies and pregnancy. The levels of fascination border on obsession. I think it's my subconcious method of dealing with how much I want to be a parent but how terribly unprepared I am to actually do so in real life. So, until I can make that a reality, babies will just pop up all over the place in my fanfiction. Examples include The Esme Diaries, Rosalie's Baby, What About Me?, Long Distance, etc etc. So, I hope everyone likes babies and pregnancy. This isn't really relevant to anything, but I'm also a sufferer of moderate-to-severe Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. I have been in treatment for it for several years now, but it's still ever-present - and a struggle sometimes. If you want to commiserate, message me. I promise I will feel your pain. Also, if you have any questions about the disease, I'm willing to be a resource. Gotta spread the knowledge. After all, we're just like you - we just wash our hands a little more often. ;) In conclusion... I'm a nice person. At least, I try. ;) My idols (in no particular order) are Leonardo da Vinci, Mahatma Gandi, Weird Al, Jimmy Buffett, Daniel Handler, Mr. Rogers, and Mother Teresa. Drop me a line (or a review, hint-hint) because I like making new friends! :) |
